It's been a while since I was this impressed with a place! The cocktail are well balanced and delicious. we tried several, and you can tell whoever curated the cocktail list really loves their work. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the server was knowledgeable. Low key signs of queer involvement in the establishment and poc support make me very happy. Me and my partner felt extremely welcome and will definitely be back!*edit* they somehow impressed us even more by coming up with a weird concoction. I was inspired by another item on the menu. They took the idea ran with it and made a key lime lie cocktail and it was spot on and the smile while they where creating it made me feel like they genuinely love their craft and have fun with it I'm beyond impressed

This is one of our favorite speak easy's in Kansas City! We always like to go here for end-cap cocktails on our evenings out. If you haven't been here before, the set-up might be a bit confusing. If the light is red, that means the bar is at capacity. When tables open up, a staff member will open the door and call the next group in line. They are cash-only. That being said, don't fret if you get there and don't have cash. They have an ATM available inside. We've tried many of the cocktails over our numerous visits and have yet to find one we don't like. As this is a smaller bar, I recommend going as a pair or with a small group.

This is a wonderful speakeasy located in the basement of a random building. The entrance is in an alley and is now clearly marked to keep people from getting lost. The drinks here are very good but be warned as some are quite boozy. They have a wide selection for each of their menu's so you'll be sure to find something you will like.

This limited entry cocktail bar pre-dated, and is related to Drastic Measures in Shawnee KS. It's located in an alley. Entry is nondescript. Tom's has a bigger waiting area and a few stairs to descend. Staff escorts customers inside based upon occupancy. Dark interior. I drank a Left Turn at Albuquerque. It had tequila, peach liqueur, honey, etc. Not bad (some enjoyable spice), but I think a little simple syrup would elevate it. Broader menu than Drastic Measures, so I prefer Tom's. A pleasant experience.

I've been to several other 'speakeasy' cocktail bars since my initial review and Swordfish Tom's is STILL my favorite. We take everyone there and all our guests think the drinks are inventive and delicious and the service is 5 star.
The light was finally green for me at Swordfish Tom's and it was worth the wait! As a Kansas City local this is a MUST-do. If you're worried about the wait, try a weeknight right after work. My coworker and I were looking to grab a cocktail on Halloween and Swordfish Tom's was the perfect spot. It is the most classic speakeasy in KC. Street parking was prolific. Thankfully, we had cash (but they have an ATM if you need it). It took us a while to browse the menu and come to a decision. But as it turns out, I doubt there is a bad pick on the menu. I immediately knew I needed to come back and bring my husband.

I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at this incredible speakeasy. The bar tender and server were both excellent and friendly. The dark atmosphere and easy going customers made the experience even more fun spotting all of the details in the decorations including the multiple instruments and instrument pieces. It was very clean and I can't wait to go back!
