Teetasty is a small cafe in a strip mall on Southwest Trafficway serving Nigerian and African cuisine.
We stopped in to try it for dinner the other night.
We tried the Vegetarian Plate, Jollof rice with fried plantains and spinach, it was also topped with a slightly spicy tomato based sauce which added some depth and rounded things out. The rice has a surprisingly strong almost smokey flavor, but balanced out nicely with all of the other components.
The Vegan Egusi Soup with Fufu was interesting to try, not my favorite dish but it was pretty good and I think the SO enjoyed it. The flavor was fairly mild and slightly salty. The Fufu that it came with was a large ball which you tear off a ball and squish it into a scoop shape to eat the soup. A little different dining experience. It was soft, but not unpleasantly so.
We also tried their house made Zobo drink, which was hibiscus, ginger, cloves, and pineapple. It was strong and pretty tasty, I wouldn't have thought cloves would work on a fruity drink like that but it was pretty good.
As well as the bottled Maltina, which was a malt drink with very strong overtones of molasses. The SO loved it, I thought it was interesting to try but a bit too much like drinking molasses.
The service is table service, but seems a bit like a cafe that you should walk up to ... Their service was friendly and helpful.
The atmosphere was pleasant if not anything fancy. A little oddly decorated with everything hung extremely high up the walls. Various cultural art work, mostly of people.

My order was delivered and arrived packaged with care, and bursting with aroma. The jollof rice was smoky and bold. The okra soup with beef tripe was rich, silky, and deeply satisfying. The stir-fry spinach was packed with flavor, and the samosas and fried plantains were simply yummy. Highly recommend!

The food was actually pretty good! It was my first time in Kansas City and the wanted Nigerian food. I got beef suya, chicken suya, basmati fried rice with shrimp, fried plantain. I ordered puffpuff but they didn't have any. My only complaint is that the food took time. I ordered off Uber eats and the driver said he waited a while for the food.

Visiting from California, I went here with my SFL. Let me start with we came in through a back door. After seating ourselves we had to request the music (that is advertised) be turned on. Our server was very pleasant. We ordered the mini platter, which was good aside from the over cooked shrimp, the whole tilapia meal to which the fish texture was almost slimy, not a good fresh fish, plantain was hard, the jolloff rice taste like colored white rice that had been cooked on a grill, very smokey, puff puff with caramel drizzle was quite tasty, the zobo drink was very nice, but the egusi soup with chicken and swallow... the worst thing I ever put in my mouth. It taste like they got this dish straight from a septic tank. I truly do not know how they are in business let alone have 4.5 stars. They must be writing their own reviews. The food and safety administration should really follow up at this place and test that soup.
I have had plenty of African food and this makes me want to deny my Nigerian (African) heritage and my SFL doesn't even want to go to Africa anymore after eating here.

Very unreliable. We placed an order a day before, and when we went to pick it up, they told us the person who took the order hadn't informed them, and they hadn't made it.
