I looked this place up on this site. I chose this place over pigwich and I’m glad I did. The food was great and filling. I got the bay of pigs which has roasted pork, prosciutto, smoked gouda, habanero pickles, mustard mayo and it comes on the freshest bread. The service was friendly and he was patient as we figured out what we wanted. Also I got Chicharrones which tasted fresh. I’ll be getting lunch here again for sure.

Terrible. Not one positive remark to make about this filthy place. You'd be better dumpster diving. Not only is the food below subpar, the service is awful. Rude. The wait for food atrocious. The staff arrogant. A total waste of time snd money. Couldn't get out fast enough to get real food. Let them throw away the boss hog. Wasn't worth the calories let alone the degradation.

I eat at the Bite EVERY TIME I'm a the River Market! They have the most creative menu with sandwiches that never leave you unsatisfied. Great options for vegetarians, too! Staff is always friendly and I love the art on the walls.

Staff were very helpful in explaining words that were unfamiliar. He also explained that they don’t do traditional tamales. It was more like a chunk of cornbread with meat and sauce on top. But still delicious! Also really liked the unique slaw.

We frequent The Bite for the comfort food, and definitely needed it for our wedding! Phenomenal food and service, used high quality ingredients, and my guests loved the twist on traditional plates. Highly recommend!!

I love this place! On Wednesday's they have a vegan menu with the world's best nachos (vegan or not). Plus they are just good people.

We love the food from The Bite. Rich flavor, great portion and a clean place to eat when you are enjoying shopping at the River Market. I highly recommend it.

I understand the challenges with covid, but that doesn't excuse indifferent service or uncleaned outdoor tables, in fact those should be spotless. all the reviews were overwhelmingly positive which is why we decided to go. The menu looked fantastic, but unfortunately when you removed the bread, it looked like a Subway sandwich (nothing on the inside), but cost twice as much. The possibilities were there, but fell short. Also, keep politics out of restaurants.

The menu offers so much creativity while still being comfort food. So many vegetarian/vegan options. All of it mouth-watering delicious. (Seriously, try The Toadstool...) Customer service is excellent. The owners and staff are conscientious, community-minded folk. Definitely check them out!

The Bite has been one of my favorite restaurants in KC for awhile now. Their menu is easily one of the most unique ones you’ll find not only in the City Market but in KC in general.Anytime people from out of town visit me, his restaurant is where we go to first. Those that visit repeatedly, request The Bite as their first meal in Kansas City. The owner Carlos, is so passionate about food and the community that I’ve personally witnessed him giving food away to people that are hungry and homeless. I can’t say the same for many other establishments in town.Thank you Carlos for being a beacon of light in our community, especially during the darkest of days.

I have been here a variety of times throughout the years. Their food has always been consistently fantastic. The chef here cares a lot about the menu. The product is always fresh and flavorful. I have had their Crab cakes, their Bay of Pigs, and a couple others menu items I cant remember the name of. They also have supported other local food endeavors by opening their space up for pop ups. Enabling new concepts to find an audience. This business cares a lot about their community and their food is second to none!

Do not allow the fake reviews prevent you from enjoying this great place. My car club throws shows about 3 times every summer in the market and I eat here every-time. If I were closer I would come much more often. The food is great the atmosphere is great. The portions are more than generous. Do not let recent news stories prevent you from enjoying this establishment at the River Market.

Anyone giving this restaurant a bad rating has NOT tried it. Hands down. Not only is the food phenomenal but the owner is constantly pushing the boundaries of food to offer a wider array of vegan or vegetarian options as well as food sure to please any meat eater. His restaurant is clean, hip, and inviting. You can tell the staff is committed to fostering an environment that is friendly and welcoming to the majority of people, even if it may bother a select few who have been asked to be respectful of the needs of other patrons. Any business willing to risk their business to cater to the needs of vulnerable people is a business we should all support. A PERSON we should all support. It's easy to cater to the masses or choose complacency. It's quite another to speak with compassion and equity despite the backlash it may unleash. The Bite is a restaurant that gets it. And they deliver that compassion with an unmatched level of food expertise and passion.

I love this place. The employees and owner were always friendly and kind. The food is great, affordable, and convenient, especially whenever I used to hang around the City Market. Please support small businesses and not some smear campaign designed to tear them down.

Three words: BAY OF PIGS. Seriously the best! I’ve had almost every sandwhich on the menu, and honestly they’re all AMAZING! The Toadstool is probably my second favorite if I’m feeling like not eating meat. Nice atmosphere, and super friendly staff. I highly recommend coming here if you are in the area (or even driving for it, it’s worth it!)
