This business will not serve Kansas City Missouri police officers in uniform. That is a disgrace and totally unacceptable. We should walk with our feet away from this sandwich shop

I looked this place up on this site. I chose this place over pigwich and I’m glad I did. The food was great and filling. I got the bay of pigs which has roasted pork, prosciutto, smoked gouda, habanero pickles, mustard mayo and it comes on the freshest bread. The service was friendly and he was patient as we figured out what we wanted. Also I got Chicharrones which tasted fresh. I’ll be getting lunch here again for sure.

We ordered the Boss Hog, The Bay of Pigs and Alambre. We also ordered the pozole soup and an order of maduros plantains. The alambre was ordered on a salad instead of on a bun since one of us is keto. It was disappointing that the hot toppings of the alambre was put on top of the salad greens which were almost non existent because by the time we got back to the hotel, all i had was a sloppy mess of wilted greens. It was somewhat tasty but nothing to write home about. The other two sandwiches were fair and decent but not really special or overly flavorful. The maduros were good and the usual flavor in a plantain, but for the $5 that I paid for them, there could have been a healthier portion of them. I doubt there was a full plantain in the box. As for the pozole, it was good. Not great and it could have had some spice to it, but it didn't. All in all, the choices were mostly bland and for the hype some have given it, somewhat lacking in the fulfillment of the hype. I would not go out of my way again for this one, considering we drove 30 minutes for what we thought was going to be exceptional.

Was in KC to visit my son, stopped in at A's Barbershop (shameless advert) on Hwy 7 for a beard trim and my barber told me about The Bite. I dig good food, owned by neighbors (we may not be next door but if you're a small business owner, you're my neighbor). I don't discriminate by color but seek out tasty food prepared with love. The Bite delivers both with Asian, Mexican/Cuban fusion! Take a visit to the River Market and find a place that speaks to you!

While traveling to KC on business, I took over lunch duties. The local person in our HR department seemed to think Subway and Pizza Hut were the only places in town. She had one job... lunch... and couldn't do that. Anyway, the Bite was the first place I selected. The sandwiches were a hit. My team loved it. The Bite stayed on rotation. The food is fresh. The flavor combinations are not everywhere. The price adds to the already great value that is the food and service. I ordered for groups and the staff at the Bite never missed a beat. The location is nice when you have the chance to relax and dine. The owner is very friendly. This is how I was introduced to bacon bourbon chocolate chip cookies. Come hear. Eat well. Live well. I really wanted to like this place. Creative menu with unconventional pairings of ingredients always inspires me, but I was disappointed in the end. I ordered a Señor Chang sandwich of beef short ribs, queso fresco, sriracha crema, candied jalapeños, pickled onions, radish, cilantro. Nice combo on paper, but the sandwich I got was lacking. The bread was way too chewy, it should've been light and crusty with the excess bread scooped out. The "short ribs" weren't tender but overly chewy, like a cheap butt roast. And not enough of everything else: the spicy mayo, radish and pickled onion. The "queso fresco" was MIA. The cilantro was a nice touch of freshness but someone forget to pinch off and remove the woody stems. A little attention to detail could have elevated this offering to exceptional, but instead, I was left with a feeling of what could have been. What if the bread was better? What if it was actually short ribs instead of what it was? What if the other ingredients were in the proper proportions? I guess if that was all done well, we would have been in someplace like NYC and not some contrived hipster place in KC. The upside? Someone here loves food and is creative, cutting edge even. A really cool combo of ingredients is offered here. It's just the attention to the construction of the sandwiches that lacks detail and discipline. If you're the owner of this place: you clearly can do better by demanding better from your people and better quality control. If you do, this place could be legendary. You also need to find better bread and scoop out the excess. Just sayin.

Terrible. Not one positive remark to make about this filthy place. You'd be better dumpster diving. Not only is the food below subpar, the service is awful. Rude. The wait for food atrocious. The staff arrogant. A total waste of time snd money. Couldn't get out fast enough to get real food. Let them throw away the boss hog. Wasn't worth the calories let alone the degradation.

I'm obsessed with The Bite and here's why: 1. The price point is on point - see what I did there? :) It's probably the restaurant in KC that I think is priced the most appropriately. You can grab an affordable snack for $5 or buy enough food for a meal for 2 people for less than $25, which I think is fair. 2. The flavors OMG - I love the seasoning, fun combos, and freshness of the offerings here. 3. Location - I live in the River Market, so it's easy for me to walk over here for a happy lunch event. It's such a fun area. 4. Music - I always end up dancing whilst waiting for my goodies. I just love this place. I've never been disappointed and on the contrary, am usually blown away by the flavors!

I eat at the Bite EVERY TIME I'm a the River Market! They have the most creative menu with sandwiches that never leave you unsatisfied. Great options for vegetarians, too! Staff is always friendly and I love the art on the walls.

Staff were very helpful in explaining words that were unfamiliar. He also explained that they don’t do traditional tamales. It was more like a chunk of cornbread with meat and sauce on top. But still delicious! Also really liked the unique slaw.

The Bite has awesome food and great service. I especially appreciate their amazing vegan options. Everything is packed with flavor and the sauces and sides add a touch of magic to their already incredible dishes. Always a favorite spot when we are running errands or walking around in the City Market.

We frequent The Bite for the comfort food, and definitely needed it for our wedding! Phenomenal food and service, used high quality ingredients, and my guests loved the twist on traditional plates. Highly recommend!!
