The food is so good; lots of great flavors. Try the lemonade, it is unique and delicious. The dessers are great as well. Order at the counter and they bring it out to you. It can be a little loud, but it is comfortable.

Well, the good things are the super nice people and rustic ambience. But it stopped there for me. I had the crispy chicken Cobb salad and the chicken was a frozen and heated Tyson chicken tender cut up. The bacon wasn’t real crumbled bacon. The jalepeno cucumber lemonade was not fresh squeezed. It was definitely from a powder. There was no hint of jalepeno or cucumber. A few pieces floating in a container doesn’t infuse it. There was nothing gooey about the lemon butter cookie. It was very dry cake style cookie. The entire meal was a let down.

I’ve been coming here for years and The Russell used to be one of my favorite hidden gems in KC. I’ve pretty disappointed the last few times I’ve ordered from here sadly, I feel that the quality has gone down a bi. But I thought, you know who isn’t suffering in this economy? But today left me a little irritated. I ordered some entrees and a dessert through uber eats, and the receipt just said “been out of these” next to the dessert I ordered. No phone call and no replacement. So I reported that and got my money back so whatever. But then I opened my entree and saw that the Brussels sprouts I ordered are pretty burnt. I’m never one to complain but they’re pretty much inedible. Not to mention the last time I ordered I didn’t even get dressing with my bib salad but I let it slide because I loved this place so much. I don’t know what happened recently but do better.

Best Salad Ever!
The salmon bowl was very flavorful, a perfect balance of ingredients. The decor is rustic. The service was great. Our meal arrived within 5 minutes.

They are THE BEST caterers we could've hired! I hosted a 40 person rehearsal dinner at their restaurant, and my brother had them cater his wedding reception the next evening. We were both so impressed by the responsiveness, creativity, quality of the food, price point, and the service provided over many months of working with them.
Natasha, the catering coordinator, helped me create a Chinese-themed dinner menu largely from scratch when I couldn't find a caterer who could do that. Everyone at the dinner and reception were delighted with the delicious food. Highlights included a perfectly executed fried rice, a creamy mushroom risotto, and the steak and chimichurri sliders.
The team even decorated the restaurant for us using our decor and family memorabilia. I was a bit skeptical about this because I had a particular vision, but they executed perfectly, probably better than I could've done myself. And they do beautiful displays that look like cascades of food on a harvest table.
Anyone planning a big event should seriously consider the Russell as caterer. The owner and event staff are kind and can-do people. They will work with you every step of the way, and come through for you in all the ways that matter.

I used Russell on Main for my wedding cocktail hour and reception and my guests are STILL talking about it 3 months later. Being in the wedding industry for over a decade I have eaten all the different types of catering out there but for my wedding I knew I wanted my favorite and The Russell delivered. They did such a fantastic job day of!!

The Russel has always been our favorite Lunch spot! Today the restaurant was closing early for an event when my wife and I showed up. We drive from 30 mins away just to have lunch here (it is that amazing!) and they were so kind to accommodate. i usually get the steak sandwich which is the best i have ever had. Today I also got the spicy chicken sandwich and it is hands down the best chicken sandwich i have ever had. Could not recommend enough!
