I had always wanted to try Nigerian egusi soup, and I'm not sure that any other restaurant in the KC area serves it. The woman behind the counter was kind enough to give me a sample before ordering a full meal of it: it had a nutty and creamy taste, with the earthiness of ground crayfish and some leafy green, as well as some unexpected spiciness. The goat meat was roughly chopped and absorbed the flavor nicely; previously I had only tasted goat in a biryani. I was less enthusiastic about scooping up the soup with fufu (a stretchy starch), as it required talents that I lacked — it reminded me a bit of eating with injera in Ethiopian cuisine, and in both cases I think that the flavor of the actual meal is swaddled by tasteless carbs. But it's a meal that everyone should try and Wah Gwan prepares it richly and skillfully.

I absolutely love this place and will absolutely come back! It was my first time being here and everyone was helpful and friendly when explaining what everything was and what they recommended me to get. The place is amazingly decorated and has an amazing vibe and vibrant colors, I recommend this to everyone. The people that work here have a positive vibe and are absolutely hilarious which I love!

The food is absolutely killer. Curry goat was perfectly soft and spiced. Brown stew chicken was a standout. Beefpatty was also really nicely balanced. Jollof excellent.

Wonderful customer service, great atmosphere. Absolutely recommend eating here without hesitation.

Parking: Parking is located behind the business off Troost. Entry is south of the business.

The food was amazing. We got curry goat (which was fall apart tender), curry chicken (delicious), and brown stew chicken (my personal favorite). The plantains and beef pattie were great too. Everything was great. Nisi was helpful, kind and very friendly. Great atmosphere and comfortable restaurant.

Wah Gwan is incredible. A friend and I went for lunch and were impressed with everything we got from the Oxtail to their Hibiscus drink. If you enjoy incredible flavor, meat that melts off the bone and a cool atmosphere, I 10/10 recommend trying Wah Gwan.

Lovely staff with equally amazing food. Patties make amazing air fryer snacks. Jerk chicken had great flavor with a medium lingering heat. My partner loves the honey garlic BBQ Tofu.

My husband and I had came here once for lunch and had THE BEST and Juiciest slide of the bone Oxtails and Egusi Soup with fufu.

My family came to visit and we took them there and the hostess, Wing, was so friendly and accommodating for our group of 5. The service and “family” feel we received deserves its own 5 stars…but then there’s the food!

I wish I had thought to get a photo before digging in, but this time we tried quite a few things on the menu. Of course my husband got the oxtails again, and one of our group ordered the egusi soup. This time we ordered the coconut curry shrimp, jerk chicken platter, and the Rasta pasta! Everything was delicious and superb. Oh and we had beef patties which were sooooo yum.

This is an amazing family owned restaurant and you can tell not just by the food but how the owners and staff treated us and every customer who came in.

We’ll definitely be back and maybe I’ll remember to take a photo before we eat!

Parking: You can park in front, but it’s better if you’ll be dining in to park in the back since the front is street parking.

A whole vibe. The waitress was everything! The jollof was tops! The oxtails were pretty good also, as well as the plaintains and cabbage. The rum cake was not rummy at all. But the beef patty had the perfect spicy

I ordered curry goat and jerk chicken. The cost was $61. The goat was so tough 80% of it was uneditable. The jerk chicken was made with too much pimento. I give the curry goat a 0 The jerk Chicken a2. I love Jamaican food at this place was not it. Save your money Go elsewhere. I wish I could post the picture of the curry goat.

Food was great, seasoned well, and we loved the aesthetic. However for the price you would think you’d get more food. I ordered the egusi soup and that little pot they serve for $28 was not enough and I always get to-go containers for my meals. But this was more of a child’s portion in my opinion.
