Grandpa's Ice Cream and Pies

Multiple flavors available. The Italian ice was great for people with dietary restrictions as it is gluten free, dairy free, and tree nut free.

We are from Nebraska, and we were really wanting something sweet. This is the spot to go!

I read some previous reviews, and this place has ZERO trump flags. There is a trump store next door, Teresa's Trump Store, but Grandpa's Ice Cream has nothing political anywhere. She has flags outside, but again, this is does not have anything to do with Grandpa's Ice Cream. It is a very family friendly (nothing political or anything) establishment! I am not sure why so many people are confused by this.

I brought my family in last night, the line was pretty long but the people working were very efficient. Even though it was packed, all the workers were friendly and helpful. They have lots of choices of ice cream, italian ice, pies, fresh squeezed lemonades, food, lots of choices. Can't wait to come back on our next vacation!

Love central dairy ice cream/ so glad we have it at the lake. My favorite though is Acia bowls. The staff(especially those kids)goes above and beyond to get what you want , even if it’s not on the menu.

Grandpa’s Ice Cream at Lake Ozark is honestly one of the best ice cream places around. They have a ton of flavors and everything tastes really fresh. The waffle cones are super good and the homemade pies are amazing too. The workers are always nice and the place has a fun old school vibe that makes it feel different than other places. It’s a really good stop after being out on the lake or walking the Strip. I definitely recommend stopping by if you want good ice cream and desserts. - Carl

A must try! I stopped in and it was super busy, but the staff was quick and very friendly. Prices were reasonable for the big portion sizes. My son got a large milkshake and it was amazing. They will make it out of any ice cream and toppings. l definitely recommend giving it a try.

Portion sizes are big, pricing is great, and if there’s ever a problem, staff immediately fixes it with no questions asked they are great will definitely be coming back

My family stopped in tonight after a long day of birthday parties for my daughter. This has been our go-to ice cream spot for over 10 years, and we’ve always had great experiences until tonight, under the recent ownership change.

My brother ordered the same ice cream he has gotten every visit for over a decade. Halfway through(he eats very fast), he realized there were some kind of nuts in it, something he is seriously allergic to. He had to leave immediately and go to the hospital. When my father went in to ask what happened, they told him that he was given the wrong ice cream from what he ordered. After, we also overheard 2 other customers saying they also received the wrong flavor from what they ordered.

Mistakes happen and the man who I assume is the owner came out and gave us an apology. We were prepared to move on, but then what upset me most (and probably the main reason I'm leaving a review in the first place) happened as we were leaving. I went inside to use the restroom and overheard the owner speaking to staff and other customers, blaming my brother for not checking his ice cream or disclosing his allergy. Speaking about him in that tone people use when trying to make others seem incompetent and stupid like it was absurd that he didn't do those things. That is unacceptable. Instead of taking responsibility for a dangerous mistake, the blame was shifted onto the customer.

We have been coming here for over a decade, he orders the exact same thing every time and has never had a problem. I feel that it is not unreasonable for him to assume he would be receiving what he ordered. Even if he did disclose his allergy, given that multiple customers received the wrong ice cream, I'm not so sure it would ended with a different outcome. This is just pure negligence from the staff. When it comes to working around food allergens, mistakes like this can be life-threatening.

We own small businesses ourselves, and I have past experience in the restaurant industry. Situations like this require accountability and proper staff training, especially around allergens. This is not something to dismiss or deflect and I know it's just serving ice cream, I'm not saying they need to act like it's as serious as performing surgery but this staff's carelessness on such a simple task can literally get someone killed.

We still love this place and plan to continue coming here, but the new ownership needs to take this seriously. Train your staff, own the mistake, and ensure this doesn’t happen again. If it does, talk to your staff, don't blame the customer. No one should be put at risk over something so preventable.

This is hands down THE ABSOLUTE BEST ice cream & dessert shop around! Our family stopped day one of our vacation to get ice cream. There is a huge selection of flavors. Their waffle cones are homemade and absolutely delicious. Because of how amazing it was, we made two more visits during our short vacation 🤭. They have a huge variety of sweets. Their fresh lemonade is hand squeezed while you wait & you can choose flavors and boba, which the kids LOVED! They have some great dirty sodas as well. Their portions are generous and their prices are very reasonable.

Support this locally owned & operated business. It is under new ownership & they are doing a fantastic job. The family was kind & provided amazing customer service, along with outstanding ice cream & treats!
