What a surprise it was to find a vegan restaurant in the Midwest. I admit, I’m a skeptical and biased Californian. Plugged my GPS straight here from the airport. First of all, too many vegan goodness options. I was hungry and EVERYTHING sounded great. I settled on the buffalo cauliflower bites and the KFC BBQ Sammy. The cauliflower bites were perfect. You know how cauliflower can get soggy? These were not. Crisp and with the perfect amount of breading. The KC BBQ was everything I remembered when I last ate pork back in the 80’s. My memory flooded with times from my youth but with the added comfort knowing no animal died for my tastebuds. Go here. It’s that effing good 😋

i don’t know how i’ve lived in southwest missouri for almost two years and until very recently have slept on tree hugger kirchen—the food there is phenomenal!!! i’ll never be able to say enough good things about the reuben, and the caesar salad wrap was also great. the sweet treats are also excellent—the molasses ginger cookie was huge and perfectly chewy and the peanut butter pie was likewise excellent, full of peanut buttery chocolatey goodness…i can’t wait to go back!

Got the Monte Cristo😄was good and love that they practice zero waste by implementing compost/ recycle bins and not just a singular trash bin.

Love this place! Fantastic food with lots of options and big serving sizes. I'm a vegetarian and it's so nice knowing that I can truly get anything on the menu without wondering if it'll have meat in it by accident. Great food, atmosphere and service. Highly recommend.

I've been to this place twice so far. The first time was amazing. Great service and wonderful food. So happy to find a vegan resturant that is still open in MO. The second time I went, there was a young man who was heavy on the micro aggressions. I was just checking out the different menus while I was waiting to place my order. One menu is clearly labeled 'Lil Tot' menu = for kids and he wanted to make sure, with emphasis, that I knew it was the kids menu. When the young man brought the food out to the table he asked if an extra tray was needed to split the food 🙄. My partner is even vegan, he was treating me to a nice lunch. No, we didn't need another tray because it wasn't being shared.
I will try again and hopefully moving forward there isn't an issue considering that the food is delicious. Had to knock a star because of that though.

I'm a certified meat eater so I didn't have high expectations for this place. I have now been twice and both times I have been, the food has been great. Just come in with the expectations that it won't be eating meat so it won't be the same as the dishes try to mimic but they get pretty closer. I had the buffalo Mac wrap and Reuben. Already looking forward to a 3rd visit

Very good vegan and gluten free food. But very pricey for us. 2 adults and 2 kids over $60 including tip and no drinks.

tree hugger is jam-packed with food truck-style bites such as nachos, tacos, burritos, salads, sandwiches more! be sure to try the monte cristo, it’s a deep fried double decker sandwich stuffed with tofurky slices follow your heart gouda and american cheese, sprinkled with powdered sugar and a side of jam!

Quiet, quaint place with a welcoming atmosphere and customer service. Very sustainability-focused (yay for composting!). Has free table games available as well. The food was good, accurately priced for plant-based items, and was very filling.

The atmosphere is furnished like the name of the restaurant. Cozy. It’s almost not too cold but in their defense I like it very warm. The music is also perfect! The service was amazing and accommodating and they have gluten free options. I couldn’t decide what I wanted and she was patient/kind with me. (This was my first time eating there). I ordered phish tacos. (2 orders) They were so good! So good! If I lived closer I would be here all the time. Definitely worth the drive. Thank you so much.

Had to go here twice on our trip to Kansas City. Food is incredible and fairly priced for vegan food. I would recommend this to anyone who is or isn’t vegan, just a great overall place. 8.3/10.
