Really tender roast beef able to cut with a fork. Had college parent night there as they were transitioning from a restaurant to a convention/banquet center.

Although the dining room is now permanently closed, Matt's steaks were, by all measures, the best steaks in Mid-Missouri. The bottomless salad and bread sticks were the best around. The service was attentive and friendly, and in two decades of dining here, never screwed up an order. The atmosphere was decidedly rural, along with much of the clientele, but it's the food that made this place special. Now apparently open only for family events, hopefully Matt's still will offer the random carry-out meal for order.

Service was great, although, with the quality of food, they should've just comped the meal. Spinach artichoke dip was overpowering and sour. Salad was wilted, and tomatoes were mushy. Steaks were undercooked for me and overcooked for my wife; neither had any flavor. Sides were bland. They took the appetizer and one of the steaks off the ticket, though both of us only had a couple bites of each item. Not worth it, especially for the price.

I will say that this place is okay, not great, not poor but just okay. Honestly, you'll get the same experience if you go to a Texas Roadhouse, Longhorn Steakhouse or something equivalent. But based on its location, you'll go here for a steak because there's no other options nearby.Parking: More parking than this establishment will ever have customers

We went for my husbands birthday and we got rushed to order when there was maybe 4 tables full in the whole restaurant and we got our food and it tasted bad and just dry and not flavorful. We could have went to have something cheap for the quality we got.

They were not busy at all and had plenty of staff so the sign on the door asking for patients due to a staff shortage didn’t apply. (And In addition to that, if businesses are posting signs warning you of potential bad service, they should lower the prices). This was not the case. They were staffed fine for the tables. Our waitress was an older blonde lady who just didn’t seem to have any patience for us. We put in our drink order and she asked if we wanted an appetizer. I asked the family if anyone saw anything that they may want as an appetizer, but she apparently didn’t want to wait and was off. I had ordered a bar drink (this comes up later) She didn’t bother to bring our food out when it was done and DIDN'T CHECK OUR TABLE NOT ONCE AFTER OUR FOOD CAME OUT! Not is everything tasty, not a refill, nothing. I wanted another drink from the bar. Nope. We actually wanted dessert but because it took so long for her to appear, we were ready to go. As I figure it, that restaurant lost an extra $60 on our bill because the waitress didn’t bother to serve us. Ready for the caviat? We were dressed a bit rough. T-shirts and shorts. We were driving back from my husbands sisters funeral in Illinois and after a rough week of hospice, we weren’t spiffy. She sure brightened up when I put my platinum Amex down to pay the bill though. I work hard for my money and for their prices, asking for decent service isn’t asking too much. We were never offered refills, no extra salad, which is supposedly endless, no extra breadsticks, hell, we never saw her until the bill was presented. I tipped her the 20% but only because I didn’t want to fall into her obvious pre-judgment of my hungry, heartbroken, and haggard family. If you have a waitress that is so hardened and used up, maybe you should consider some new blood

The steaks here are second to none. Our server has been with them for a few years and was knowledgeable. The only hang up was the selection. They were out of many items. The first person who ordered asked for a baked potato. Apparently that was the last one. They didn't have door of the other sides. Some struggles with stock and staff. Call ahead and see if they are open. The staffing issues have caused some hour adjustments.

What a disappointment. My husband loved this place, my first time, and now we wish we would’ve went to McDonald’s over this place for our anniversary. For paying $100+, you expect at least a decent meal… this was not the place. My drink had no alcohol, our calamari wasn’t fully cooked, spinach artichoke dip wasn’t either. Salads were awful. And our meals… even worse. See photo for “medium rare” steak. With certainty, I will never go back here and will make sure no one else does either. How is this place even open? We should’ve known because there were only three other cars in the parking lot in hindsight…

I had high expectations based off reviews and recommendations from other…but this was THE worst steakhouses experiences I’ve ever had.The only “good” thing was that my steak was cooked perfectly (although bland and zero flavor), broccoli sides were just green mush….the pork chops looked like they had been pulled from a freezer and were not even seasoned. The $8 kids pizza…our three year old took on bit of and it wind up back on the plate. I tried the pizza and do not blame the kiddo for not eating it - how hard is it to make a cheese pizza…???The staff was okay, nothing great and not overly friendly. Overall poor experience and good quality.I highly doubt I’ll be back and would rather have just flushed a $100 down the toilet if I’m being perfectly honest. Very disappointing.

Ever go to a steakhouse only to be disappointed? Spent 50+$ and got a sub par piece of meat and mediocre service wishing you just would have eaten at home ? Well that won't happen at Matt's !!! I've been several times and let me tell you the steaks, service and atmosphere are top shelf. I would suggest the ribeye even though Matt recommends the KC strip which is very flavorful, I prefer the tenderness and marbling of the ribeye. The beef at Matt's is high quality, properly trimmed and cooked to perfection. All of the steaks come with unlimited salad and bread sticks . The homemade cheesecake is some of the best cheesecake I've ever had . Try the banana split cheesecake it's my favorite.

Was upscale and expensive. The five of us ate for about $250. It was my birthday and our first time there. Service was awesome! Food was awesome! Drinks were awesome! Fountain around the beautiful stone fireplace wasn't working, but that didn't matter to much. The driveway could use repaving, luckily the weather was nice or we may have had trouble getting down it in our van. Overall we had a fun time and enjoyed ourselves.

Was told it'd be a 20 minute wait. We ended up waiting an hour, a group of 5. A group of 4 came in roughly 30 minutes after us and they were seated before us.

Buffalo Shrimp appetizer was good.... disappointed that I couldn't get a Vodka Gibson because the bar didn't have COCKTAIL ONIONS. I can go to just about ANY "Hole in the Wall" and get THAT drink... LOL ???Server was just ok as well.
