Ni-Kuni Japanese Steak House & Sushi Bar

We go here all the time and have never had an issue but today we ordered doordash from them. the rolls I ordered were not what showed up in the bag. I called and they asked about the rolls 5 times or more. Had to call me back to make sure the order was made incorrectly and then I had to drive all the way back into town to pick up the correct order. We tried to get a refund from doordash but couldn’t because they needed pictures of the incorrect rolls and the lady at the restaurant had already taken them back once we got there. This was a waste of my time, money, and their money. Doordash orders should always be checked at least twice before they leave the store and doing this is a big waste of food. Extremely frustrating and disappointing because this food is not cheap.

We've only been here twice, but it was amazing both times. Our waiter today was THE BEST, but I can't remember his name..I think Mina, but not for sure. He made the experience so much better. We will be back.

Inside was nice and clean, food was very good. Server was very pleasant and kind, The foodCould’ve been a little hotter in temperature when it was brought to the table. My husband got the lobster and New York steak I got the shrimp and the New York steak. Comes with fried rice, vegetables, soup and salad so it was a great deal.

I didn't like the service.

I'm sorry but sushi is mediocre at best. Hibachi is pretty good and miso soup.
Aperizers are ok. Sushi, disappointing...

The food is good but the service is terrible. We got a reservation days ago for Valentine's Day. We checked in 10 minutes early and waited to be called. When we were called they let someone steal our table and when we tried to correct the mistake they placed us in the back corner where the walk ins were at and ignored us for an hour. A busser finally got us a waiter and then we waited another hour to get our food which the busser had to bring a portion of because our waiter was nowhere to be found. I would understand this if they had been busy but by the time we got our food, which we watched sit on the bar for 10 minutes, there were only 4 couples in the whole restaurant. We asked to speak to the manager and he argued with us about the service. We watched other couples come and go and tried to be understanding but the food was not worth the way we were treated. They cared more about the online orders then the people who made reservations days ago. A couple next to us left and told us we should too or we wouldn't eat until 10. I thought that they were exaggerating but they were right. The manager only took off 20% off our bill. The waiter then stood over me waiting for a tip. I never not tip. I believe that tipping is very important but I did not tip him. I would have tipped the busser that did his job that night but the bussers got to leave before we did.

Ordered food at 7:30 that was supposed to be ready by 8 according to the email, now I’m sitting here at 9 still waiting. I understand they are busy due to Valentine’s Day but I also can’t leave because I already paid online and the person running the register went to get the person who can authorize the refund but they never got them. The main reason that I’m not pleased with the service is because people showed up well after me and we’re seated and had their main meal and left in the time that I’ve wrote this Review

Waited 1 hour with reservation. Just to skipped by people who were just getting there. We finally were seated and waited over 40 minutes to never get asked for a drink. Never got acknowledged at all. Servers served everyone around us but us. Bad service. Will never go back

Ni-Kuni is our favorite restaurant in Sedalia. They make the most amazing fresh sushi. My husband had the 3 pick sushi, and he just got the rock n roll sushi rolls. He loves that so much, he ordered it as his 3 options. I ordered the cowboy roll, which has the lobster Tempura, among other amazing additions. I love this roll, and their spider roll are my 2 favorite. I don't even add soy sauce or Wasabi their sushi is just that great. They have great kids' meals here, and their mac and cheese is delicious. 😋🥰 everybody who works here is always so polite and just makes you want to keep coming back. Thank you once again for the amazing dining experience.
