This is my favorite coffee shop in Springfield! Love their chicken salad sandwich from here. Staff was friendly and accommodating. I like how all the art on the walls is by local artists and for sale.

Our Christmas Eve visit to Big Momma Coffee had the quiet, settled pleasure of something done exactly right. There was no sense of holiday rush intruding on the experience—only warmth, welcome, and the reassuring smell of coffee taken seriously.

The Americano and cappuccino were brilliantly brewed, opening with bright, fruit-forward notes that were clean rather than sharp, lively without tipping into acidity for its own sake. It tasted intentional. According to their own account, Big Momma works with thoughtfully sourced beans and roasters who emphasize clarity, balance, and careful development over brute strength. That philosophy shows in the cup: no muddiness, no burnt bravado—just well-handled coffee allowed to speak plainly.

The mushroom sandwich was equally divine, a dish that understands restraint as a virtue. Rich, savory, and deeply satisfying, it managed to feel indulgent without heaviness, the sort of food that complements coffee rather than competes with it.

Big Momma Coffee succeeds not by novelty but by confidence. Everything—from the brewing to the menu—suggests a place comfortable in its standards and generous in its execution. On a day when many places merely endure the calendar, Big Momma quietly excelled

Update: this used to be one of my favorite places to go, but the last few times I’ve been there the quality has really dipped and it doesn’t look like much has been updated or cleaned in the shop since my last post 13 years ago!

Management, there are a lot of great coffee shops opening in town and C-Street needs big mamma’s to stay top notch!

The last two times I was there the lettuce on my sandwich was visibly spoiled and even with a rustic vibe, your interior is looking dirty, especially your kitchen, which is easily visible from the open door.

Prior review: LOVE it, love it love it! Best coffee/atmosphere in springfield. I have to stop in every time I am on the north side of town!

Unfortunately I did not get to try the food I ordered. There was a group of 8 of us who were going to have dinner and a meeting. We arrived at 5:15. Online states they are open until 8:00. One of the waitresses came over and told us they close at 6:00. We then had to cancel our orders and find a new place to quickly move our meeting to. When addressing that online states they already open until 8:00 they informed us they knew that and its been wrong for over 4 years online. So it appears they have zero desire to correct that. We didn't even get an apology not were we provided with receipts to show our orders had been refunded. Overall, I was not impressed with the situation.

I just wanna thank the baristas that were working around noon on 9/14 - ya’ll were so sweet to my mom and she really had a good time. You could tell they really enjoy working there, as they were happy to give suggestions and make something specialized, which is rare to see
