I’ve never believed more in a group of people who own an establishment. I just so happened to share about my fundraiser for wheelchairs in Africa and the owner jumped at the opportunity to help. She offered to even host a fundraiser night. She reached into her own pockets and gave me $200 to support. Not a lot of places I would recommend like I would here.

🚨 Bob & Ike’s – Racist & Hostile Environment 🚨
If you’re Black, biracial, or a person of color, Bob & Ike’s is NOT a safe place for you.
I was, minding my business, and having a drink with waiting for my son to join me … I was there for about an hour when my son showed up with no issues…. While passing through, to greet my son, a woman complimented my hair—I thanked her and continued the conversation.
when a patron at the table suddenly said: ➡️ “You standing over my purse makes me uncomfortable.”
I hadn’t even noticed her purse, but I immediately apologized. Still, something felt off, so I asked: ➡️ “Why exactly do I make you uncomfortable? Should I assume it’s because I’m Black or the way I look?”
And just like that, everything escalated.
🔹 Another patron jumped in: “We didn’t even know you’re Black!” My son immediately started to defend me and himself at this point! 🔹 A white gay man tried to discredit my experience, saying he doesn’t get treated like that. 🔹 When I stood up for myself, they twisted the situation and forced me out. 🔹 They even tried to turn my son against me. When he refused, they got even more aggressive. 🔹 As I was leaving, the bar owner and patrons continued to follow me outside, screaming at me.
Then came the oldest gaslighting trick in the book—they claimed I was drunk and high to discredit me.
🔹 Let’s be clear—I had ONE Truly and ONE shot. 🔹 I was in full control, I remember everything, and I stand by every word. 🔹 This wasn’t about alcohol. This was about them not being able to handle a Black woman calling them out.
And here’s the final proof it was never about my behavior:
The owner refused to let me pay my bill. I had one drink on the tab—a drink I never even touched.
This wasn’t bad service. This was racism, public humiliation, and targeted harassment.
I will NOT be silent. If you care about fairness, equality, or basic decency, do NOT support this business.
Black & Brown folks: Avoid Bob & Ike’s at all costs.

Amazing bartenders. Amazing owner. This place is hands-down the best bar in Springfield. The crowd is amazing. They have live bands sometimes on the weekend. During the week, it’s very quiet and peaceful and the owner is the bartender. She’s one of the best humans I’ve ever met in my life. Oh wait, let’s talk about her homemade pizzas. Check it out for yourself. Don’t miss out.
