Sonja made our wedding cake last July and it was fantastic. Exactly what we wanted and tasted fabulous. We did get an extra tier so we could freeze it and save it for our anniversary. We’ve heard lots of horror stories from friends and family about how their cakes (from other bakers) were horrible a year later. We are glad to say that our cake was still wonderful!! Granted, it was better fresh rather than after being frozen for a year. But we are definitely enjoying it again!!

My husband and I were both incredibly disappointed with our wedding cake we ordered as well as the customer service we received. We ordered our cake over a year before our wedding and when doing the sampling the cake we tried was amazing. Fast forward to a few weeks before our wedding when trying to touch base on what time our cake would be arriving it took multiple failed attempts at calls and an email before I received a callback. Once I got a callback it was agreed upon our cake would be arriving at our venue at 1:00 day of the wedding we went over details for it and a color sample for the ombre effect was sent. Come day of we're getting ready and our ceremony is about to begin and no cake. Our cake arrived 45 minutes late so we didn't get to see it before our ceremony began. It actually was still being assembled once our ceremony was over. My husband and I both were fairly disheartened to see our cake once we arrived inside as it looks nothing like what we'd shown pictures of and requested the year prior at our consult. Taste wise it also wasn't what we sampled our family and friends agreed and also didn't much care for any of the layers they all were incredibly bitter particularly the berry flavor. I reached out to Sonja on the next business day after our wedding to discuss our cake and she was incredibly rude to me. I was told she didn't do refunds, she'd never seen any of our reference pictures, and that she didn't know what I expected. I told her it wasn't what we'd ordered at all. We specifically requested no pipping in between layers and was told that cannot be done. If you're familiar with cakes that can in fact be done and is done regularly (much like the source cake we referenced in our order see the picture of the two tier white cake). As well as how six colors had to go into the ombre effect and how we should be appreciative of the effort it took. She continued to berate me and say we didn't order correctly and was incredibly dismissive and rude. Offering only to make a birthday cake or other smaller cake which at this point after the way she'd spoken to me and how our wedding cake turned down we declined as we no longer wish to work with her. We end the call and I get a callback not even 5 minutes later and to her credit we did get a small refund back. Not to be rude but we can't redo our wedding cake. For around $680 ($580 after our refund) we had much higher expectations. And feel others should know what to expect from this vendor. If the cake was too much to handle we wish that could have been communicated so we could have looked elsewhere. Or better yet had the cake arrived on time maybe corrections could have been made or things altered to be partially what we'd asked for.
