A little pricey, but who isn't downtown? Pretty much the best burger you'll get at 2 in the morning

Tiny place, but big on flavor! Excellent cheesesteaks and burgers, and possibly the best fries in town. I highly recommend the salt & vinegar fries, but the regular fries are great, too, and they're extremely generous with the serving size, as well. Two people can share a single order, no problem.

Pro tip: they have a daily special and a seasonal special, which is a tremendous value! It's cheaper than a sandwich by itself, and it comes with fries too. Thursdays are my favorite, with the spicy cheesesteak as the daily special, but it's fun to try their other, more creative offerings on other days.

7th on Walnut is a downtown treasure, and we have a moral obligation to support small businesses like this. The owners and staff are super friendly, and you'll be glad you made the trip! Or you can always just order through DoorDash or Uber Eats and skip the parking hassle.

The only downside to 7th on Walnut is the small size. There's only one or two small tables (plus one or two more outside on nice days), so plan to carry out. Otherwise, it's awesome!

If you're craving an insanely good Philly Cheesesteak and fries, this place is an absolute must. It's got the grungy, hip atmosphere a 35 year old man like me needs to feel alive again. Very little seating, so plan for takeout. We got the #6 and spicy Philly and both had a perfect spice level. The fries are top notch. Do yourself a favor, and try this place.

Our visit to 7th on Walnut Sandwich Shop was entirely unplanned, prompted only by the siren call of free-er smells drifting across the street from Jimmy John’s. Chance, in this instance, proved a better guide than intention.

“The Turkey” sandwich was excellent—thoughtfully assembled, generously flavored, and plainly made by someone who respects the quiet dignity of good ingredients. The fresh-cut fries were equally convincing: hot, crisp, and properly seasoned, with none of the apologetic limpness that so often accompanies the phrase house fries.

The shop itself is small—two or three tables at most—and makes no attempt to disguise the fact. Yet what it lacks in square footage it repays in warmth. The atmosphere is cozy rather than cramped, the service attentive without ceremony, and the whole operation gives the impression of being run by people who care more for quality than spectacle.

In short, 7th on Walnut is the sort of place one hopes not to discover too widely advertised: modest, capable, and quietly excellent. Springfield would do well to keep it just as it is.

Highly recommend. We had been looking for a good cheesesteak since our recent trip to Philadelphia. This restaurant did not disappoint. The sandwiches had quality bread and well seasoned meat. Everything was well packaged and arrived fresh and warm without being soggy. We will definitely order from here again and try their other offerings.

Had gone here around 2024 and the service was excellent. Burgers were done right, they gave you good portions of fries and the price was around 8-10$. Now it’s the opposite and the prices being around 15-20$? Not worth it. There are plenty of other places I’d recommend for this price point. I don’t know what happened. Maybe bad timing? Maybe a fluke. But if that’s what happens on a normal slow day; I’d be scared about what happens on a bad day!
