City Butcher and Barbecue

Start with the coming into the building. Single line slow process. Don't have any real combo plates so you can sample all. Kinda have to piece your dinner together. Half pound of this third pound of that.
I got pound of turkey, 2 half sausages cause wanted to try both flavor, beans and drink. 38 bucks one person.

Turkey was very good, sausages was very good. Bean Soso but a very good portion size.

Trouble I have with this place is brisket pricing. I believe it's 32 dollars a pound. I'm from Kansas city, and that's higher than ANY PLACE I know in kc.
So I didn't try it.
Most places 20 to 26 a pound. 32 is ridiculous.

Very good food though. And clean place. Prices a bit much especially the brisket.

Way overpriced. We ordered me by the pound and several sides there were seven of us. And our food was served on two trays no plates

Really good food. I’ll be back. Spicy sauce was not spicy. Corn was very spicy. Will try the smoked turkey and the pork belly next…..unless I can bring someone who will order That…..then, I’ll eat the burnt ends again. Mmmmmm mmmm! Son had brisket and friends had pulled pork. Sides were big for price and serving size of sandwiches was worth the price.

We’ve been to a lot of different bbq places and each one seems to want to put their own style on their own. That’s okay and can usually be interesting.
We walked in around 12:15 pm and placed our order at which time we were informed they were out of exactly what we were ordering. They opened up at 11:00 am.
Really not a problem as I’m usually pretty easy to please, and it’s not my business to run.
What was available, and being served up to everyone “for free “, was the the “HAIRY AS$ CRACK SANDWICH “ If you wanted it or not.
The GUY preparing the food, a very tall, male white, about 30 something, was wearing his jeans like he was in prison and was open for business. Because of his height he had to bend over to prepare the food. And guess what you got to look at, just before eating. Of course you had to look away, but it was to late.
Many people may say, hey it’s just a little plumbers butt. Sorry, even a journeyman plumber would have been offended.
And for crying out loud, you are running a business, take off your knit hat, pull up your pants, all the way, and try to keep food in stock. Unless you get to close when you run out, which I can get behind, as a short work day.
Anyway, sorry for the rant, I’m just sorry for not ordering the As$ crack sandwich, without sauce of course.
The food we had was okay, average for a quick bite.

Carry out. We bought ribs and brisket, with 2 sides. The brisket was very good but too much seasoning. The ribs were extremely tough. The sides are so spicy. Thank goodness, we only ordered ½ rack of ribs because we threw them out.

Just before 1pm on Sunday they were already sold out of some meats our party of 3 wanted. They recommended the jalapeno and cheddar sausage. We all like that type of meat so we all tried it. It must have been spoiled, I took 1 bite it was ruff!
The other meats were decent. Left pretty disappointed.

Dull, greasy, flavorless, over priced food . Left hungry .

After spending 130$ here the brisket was so greasy and chewy we couldn’t eat it. We left with hungry kids. I am very disappointed and upset .

The food is great usually, but overpriced especially when it takes forever to order, and unless you are there when it opens, they run out of everything. After waiting in line for 40 minutes, they were out of almost everything. Smokin' Bob's is great, less expensive and WAY better service.

I think (praying) it may have been an off day. 130 in the afternoon on a Thursday. Four employees on. one group of three and one individual in front of me upon arrival. It took 14 minutes for them to take the first individual's order. Ask for a pause to catch up for another 5. Took the order of the three. Ask for a pause to catch up again. Took 26 minutes to order. The cashier called out my order three sandwiches brisket, ends, and turkey. The gentleman cutting meat literally said to the cashier "those three things you just said, I don't know what any of that means". For 50 dollars I ended up with three small sandwiches on stale bread with pre done baggies of exactly three pieces of onions three jalapenos and three pickles which makes sense, I did order three sandwiches. I mean who would want more than one pickle on a sandwich. The Establishment itself looks amazing, everything was super clean.

My husband and I stopped in on Sunday for lunch and stood at the counter to order over 5 minutes without being acknowledged by either employee facing us. They were not busy as there was no one else in line and only 2 others sitting down at a table. We walked out. It was very odd.

The food was great and service was amazing even though they were a little busy. The fella threw in some cookies for my kiddos which made their night.

We eat a lot of BBQ this is amazing probably picking up another pound of brisket to go. If you are in the area of live here make the time to visit you won't be disappointed
