I had the crazy experience at civil which i shared with some friends and found its not the first time its happened.
Went on a date with my girl, decided to take her to Civil Kitchen since we had never tried it and it looked cozy. When the waitress comes to the table i order some bread for the table and then let my girl, who is white, place order while i make up my mind. She finishes, and i start to give my order and i look up to realize the waitress is gone. At first i was alittle shockes and then thought maybe she went to get the bread. 45 minutes she does not come back bread so i ask, she looked at me like i offended. When i asked why she had not taken my order her reponse was one of shock, like how dare i want to order food. She generally confused that i wanted to eat with my girlfriend.
I know black in this town still go thru stuff but can we really not even order a meal?

Bartender Riley was awesome. Food 10/10. I went during lunch on a Friday, ordered the pork belly 10/10. Fries could be improved It was not busy .
All the food was great! Our group got the wings, truffles fries, and onion rings as apps. Then smash burger, chicken sandwich, and pork belly tacos. We definitely be back

This place is a must try. Our server Alexis was the absolute best and the food was delicious! My family and I will definitely be back. If you want the best experience here, ask for Alexis!

I had the chicken sandwich and the brownie dessert. The dessert was very good but the chicken sandwich was tough and too crispy of a coating. Now I have to also say that the flavor of the coating was not bad if it was not cooked a little too long. Maybe this was a one-off? I did receive very good service.

I enjoy this place. I had the blue goat burger and it was a unique take on a smashburger. I had sweet potato waffle fries. I love dipping my fries and blue cheese dressing. Civil Ktchen takes ranch dressing and puts in blue cheese chunks. It actually works a lot better than I expected.

Given that this was a doordash I expected less than fresh. However the sandwich was missing the sauce and had 1/2 grisly. The miso potatoes were not seasoned and no different from any other chopped potatoes. All the sides were drowning in oil and lacked any flavor or seasoning. The o e saving grace was the fried kale. I'd like to believe that in person dining would be better but the lack of flavor makes me think not. Likely won't try again but maybe in a few years. Springfield has some good local food but I would not recommend this.

I loved the atmosphere of this place. It felt like a hole in the wall with 5 star restaurant quality. My waitress was amazing and always on top of things. I got the breakfast burger which was delicious, but the meat needed a little more seasoning. The brusselsprouts were amazing too. They were a little too tart for my preferences.

We made an order on door dash and my husband ordered the pork belly tacos and received the most disgusting, unappealing dish we've ever seen. We weren't even sure what it was, and concerned that my husband might not even be able to eat it due to his allergies. After trying some of it it seems like it's a straight slab of pork belly with a very disappointing side dish. It was not even good. He was so excited about the tacos and this dish ruined our hopes for a good night together without having to cook for ourselves. Why would you ever even offer this as an alternative?!? Please see photo, tell me it doesn't look like depression era food...
I hate to leave a 1 star review for a reputable restaurant, but I'm just appalled and insulted that someone would even attempt to serve this.

The Brussels sprouts and their brownie dessert were yummy, as was the peach and basil gin and tonic. Delicious French fries. Overall average experience. I ordered a salad and specifically asked for it to come before dinner. It didn’t. No big deal. When my food was delivered, I just told them I don’t need the salad anymore. Was then told the manager said I still needed to pay for it, and so did I want it boxed up. I asked to speak to the manager at that time. Was later told my waitress they would not charge me for it. It wouldn’t have even been an issue if they just wouldn’t have tried to charge me for the salad to begin with.
There is a $5 parking garage up the street. Limited street parking.

The most expensive thing on the menu, the salmon, was raw. The miso potatoes are just basic potatoes. The broccoli was mushy and cold. Just disappointing, it felt like every ingredient that was supposed to be unique was poorly executed; lacking flavor. Like the cashews in the broccoli? The flavor of the food isn’t necessarily bad but it’s nothing good either, just bland. And obviously it’s not the waitress’s fault or the host's, but it was so incredibly awkward to point out issues with the food as if we weren’t supposed to dislike a 23 dollar plate of raw fish. At least they took it off our bill but overall two other underwhelming meals and bread appetizers with unmelted cheese for over 50 dollars was just a lame dinner. And first impression.
