Really great waiters, delicious wine, and I adored my caprese salad, my tiramisu left something to be desired and had coffee grounds on top which gave it an unpleasant grainy texture, but otherwise everything was lovely

Well worth the little extra. We found them just by a google restaurant search. Yes the prices are a little more than what most would typically pay, but the food was EXCEPTIONAL! The ambiance is cozy, romantic, and the lighting is perfect, not too dim, not too bright. I had one of the specials of the day, ravioli with veal, delicious! For an appetizer we had cantaloupe wrapped in prosciutto with just a hint of black pepper! WOW! My wife had a Caprese salad, marvelous! Definitely a place we will return to when in Springfield but I do suggest calling for a reservation as they fill the tables quickly, with good reason.

Friday night we went to dinner at the Gilardi’s restaurant. We were treated to a 5 course meal curated by Chef James. The combination of flavors were unlike anything we had ever experienced before. The flavors were like paints on a canvas and Chef James we the artist. The flavors painted a picture that we could only see using our tastebuds. The fresh produce made you feel like you were sitting in Tuscany eating dinner in a vineyard. Our courses were each paired with a wine that punctuated the flavors of each dish bringing the main courses to a crescendo. Our evening ended with dessert paired with a lovely port that satisfied our pallet. To deny yourself of this Springfield gem located on historic Walnut street would be a dis-justice. Add this to your todo list. Chef James mentioned a special Octoberfest menu to soon be announced and I for one don’t want to miss it!

Incredibly happy with my meal! So accommodating to allergies! I was able to enjoy a fabulous dish replaced with dairy substitutions (oatmilk and plant butter). I haven’t had such a lovely meal out since having my diagnosis. Thank you Gilardi’s!
This has been my favorite restaurant since my first visit. The food is phenomenal in all aspects from the plating and portions to the taste. Having dined at multiple Michelin star restaurants it amazes me they haven’t received one yet. The atmosphere is unlike any other from the moment you drive in feeling like you found a hidden restaurant meant for only those who have been invited. The staff accommodates that feeling to with their knowledge and presentation. The beautiful scene outside the building is perfect for pictures and to just kick back and relax after the food. The beauty of the gardens surrounding the property translates to the food as well. This is the only restaurant I would ever say is perfect with its consistency with every visit being as good as the last no matter how busy. The owner James and his staff always greet us with a big smile and welcome. The skills of the kitchen are nothing to be overlooked either. Though it caters an Italian menu there skills are far broader than that. With requests being an option ahead of time I utilized it was not let that that’s for sure. The inside of the restaurant is very homie and well decorated and lit. Table placement is just right for comfort. I have never had to wait to be seated from reservations. Time from order to presentation is average but nothing to complain about. The staff are attentive, quick, intelligent, and very personable. The prices are actually quite the steal especially when comparing to other high end restaurants. And last but not least the drinks are exceptional.
I would recommend everyone try at least one special they offer. There menu options I recommend are
-Pesto Limonata
-Gilardis Pasta
-specialty shank dish
-Tiramisu
And the drinks I recommend are the old fashion and the limoncello sidecar

We drove 3 hours just to come eat here And I would do it all again without hesitation!
Incredible restaurant. Worth every penny and every second of your time. I drive hours just to eat there almost monthly. The owner and staff are the perfect reflection of the quality of food and make an incredible environment. This restaurant genuinely puts other restaurants to shame that charge 10x as much with smaller portions even.
Wow..what a hidden gem. Amazing food. Great service. It's in the building behind the house. Don't sleep on this place.

This is a gem of the Springfield restaurant scene. Fine Italian dining in a century-old converted carriage house with delightful food, great ambiance, and detailed service. There are regular features, and the menu is both simple and diverse enough for anyone; they even have options for those with food allergies. There is a vast wine selection of course, but also beer, cocktails, and N/A options. They locally source ingredients when possible, and they have an on-site garden during the growing season from which they get many of their fresh herbs and vegetables. Come here expecting to take your time, to eat well, and to really enjoy the food, drinks, and service as the Italians do...slowly and thoroughly.
Dietary restrictions: They can accommodate assorted dietary restrictions/allergies and it is best to call ahead to discuss this

In all respects, it is like walking into fabulous Italian place in all of the places in this country you would expect to find this incredible gem. Middle of Missouri? Stunning surprise. The food, the atmosphere, the service, even the light background jazz make this place perfect. This is quite literally one of my favorite Italians in the US. Go and test this assertion. And don’t miss the super cool and eclectic art collection.

Haven't been in a while. Had an excellent time with Andrew as our server. Good wine selection, excellent appetizers with the fried provolone (special), and the meatballs and polenta. The special salmon with peach chutney was a little overcooked, but the flavor was perfect. The tortellini with portobello, peas, and prosciutto was savory and creamy. The chicken parmesan and fettuccine was wonderful with a delicate cream sauce.
