Hibiscus Jerk Hut

Absolutely amazing authentic Jamaican food. My husband is Jamaican and we both were both more than impressed by the food and customer service. We had the oxtail and jerk chicken dinners, and the rice and peas were perfect, too. We'll be making trips back to Springfield and Will always stop by!

I want to like this place, I'm always rooting for small businesses. But the food just wasn't very good, there wasn't much flavor or spice on the jerk chicken sandwich (which promised to be spicy), and the fries tasted like I made frozen grocery store fries. The dipping sauces were good, and the Ting soda was delicious. Also I got diarrhea like an hour later, but not 100% sure it was from this meal.

Never open to try

Was going to try this place first time ever, was looking forward to trying it and so I placed an order online during normal business hours on a Thursday and came to pick it up. They were closed, and so I had to call to get the order cancelled. Im pretty annoyed as I was extremely hungry and waited 20 mins for food that wasn’t even being made.

the jerk chicken has a mild kick and their mac and cheese was some of the best ive had in ages

The food advertisement online will lead you to think; this is an eat in restuarant. Not this business. It is a food truck. I did not allow that to prevent me food wanting to order food. I arrived 30 minutes after advertised opening time. The truck was closed without a warning. I will not waste any more of my time driving there again.

Amazing!!I tried the jerk chicken rice bowl. The best chicken I've had in so long. Smoky, spicy chicken with peppers, mushrooms and crunchy onions. I will definitely be back soon!

The ox tails are awesome. Not fatty and incredibly tender. The ox tail gravy is good enough to be a meal on its own. Very large and diverse menu, anyone can find something good here.

I am visiting the area and saw this place while trying to get my steps in. They were closed (Monday) the first day, so I came back the next day with a friend.

There were a few others waiting, so I hoped that was a good sign. It was a nice day so we decided to stay an eat there.

I wanted the oxtail plate, but they had sold out, so I ordered the brown stew plate instead. My friend had the Avocado Chicken sandwich with fries. I was looking for a hibiscus drink and mest patties kinda disappointed they didn't have any on the menu.

The brown stew was cooked well, cut perfectly, and was fresh. The rice and peas were moist and also cooked perfectly. The cabbage was tender to the bite but lacked seasonings. They were bland, to say the least.

The Avocado Chicken sandwich was wonderful, says my friend.
We both were stuffed and glad we had walked there.

If you're looking for good, fresh, traditional island food, with friendly service, give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. I will look for this place when in the area again for sure.

I’ve tried different things from here, all the food was tasty. Today I enjoyed the goat stew, and it hit the spot. The portion size was differently a plus too. I will be visiting often, the owner is true chef. With his flavor combinations. It’s given big city vibes, so it’s really impressive we have them in little old Springfield.

I ordered the sampler meal . The ox tail melted in my mouth! Yum! The shrimp was spot on ! The jerk chicken was way better than I anticipated and spicy, loved it! Even the rice and peas were fluffy like it is supposed to be not dry or clumpy. I didn't have room for the cabbage and carrots until I tasted them , commanding me to devour all of them. Thanks for an awesome meal. Wish your restaurant was in iowa. Oh yeah, price wise worth every penny. Really nice people here.
