2. i’ve been back since the original review. todays 8/21 and mimi’s still running one heck of a restaurant! her food ALWAYS hits! I can’t find a soul other than mimi that can make yummy tasting cabbage. I have no clue what magic she whips up in the kitchen, (her team back there with her is fabulous too!!)but i can tell you this. Get your butt in there and order something you won’t be disappointed ??!!! I recommend a nice juicy piece of chicken to sooth your soul WITH FRIED CABBAGE.!
1. if you have not been to Mimi‘s, I highly suggest you get in that car and go! The prices are great and so are your portions. The food is absolutely a blessing to your tastebuds and soul. The staff is wonderful they are super nice and know just what to get for you if you can’t decide!! I’ve been eating here too often, but I don’t care my soul is happy!! Plus take out wait time and dine in wait time is always pretty quick!

Loved, Loved the catfish. Some of the best I’ve eaten in awhile. So when we got there must have been a new person or new computer system. Took awhile to order one appetizer of fried pickles, one 3 pc fish meal with fries, an extra side of Mac & cheese, Mt Dew soda and a water. Then nothing was explained that the soda machine did not work so only thing available to drink was water or tea, Then fried pickles come out. (Waitress / cashier noticed at this point my husband did not have his soda he ordered and brought him a 16oz bottle.) Pickles were delicious. Then fish and macaroni and cheese (the extra side dish we ordered) which I would not call this Mac & cheese.. I would call it a spicy garlic sauce pasta dish, it was good in its own way, but definitely not Mac and cheese. Maybe add some grilled chicken with this topped with some sun dried or diced tomatoes and use a penne noodle instead?
A good Mac & cheese soul food might go heavy on some real cheddar cheese with some jalapeños diced in…
I Asked about our side of fries. We waited finished all our other food and They came when we were done and ready to leave. $32 +tip. They tried real hard but need some training and organizing. I definitely will try again, this is no way harping this business… just needs a little redirection and organizing. But do not get discouraged if you plan on visiting. This is a cozy mom and pop type shop with a good vibe that we love to support.
One young lady in the back looked like she was the only cook and she was rocking it!

I wanted to try this place because I was in the area and wanted to try something different. I walked into this place and was immediately turned off by how dirty this restaurant was.
I approached this black male working there and was immediately treated with racism and poor customer service.
This black, male employee immediately gave me this dirty look like What do you want?” and rudely greeted me with “Can I help you?” like as if I didn’t belong here. I asked him a question about a menu item I was wanting to try. The employee was rude and didn’t even look at me in the eye while I was talking to him. He probably assumed because of the color of my skin that I didn’t speak English well. I walked out and didn’t bother ordering anything.
This is a black family owned business in a majority White city. This place will not stay open long if they plan on only caring about customers of the same skin color as them. They need to have better emotional and intellectual intelligence here. No wonder why this place looked deserted from the outside. Springfield isn’t crime driven ST LOUIS.
I understand Springfield isn’t very diverse and I know there aren’t many Hispanics there but I felt very uncomfortable at this restaurant.

placed an order well ahead. i get there to pick it up and they got the order and just decided not to make it. waited an additional twenty minutes after i’d just got off work. don’t even care how the food tastes. won’t be back
Showed up at 8pm on the 6th of July and they were already out of fish, meatloaf, and cornbread. So we order fried chicken collard greens and mac and cheese. The chicken was overly salted to the point it was barely edible, the collards were just ok and the mac and cheese was so watery that I could scrape the mac to one side of the bowl and the cheese would run to the other..

Went for lunch on a Sunday. They were closed and it looked like they may be out of business. Disappointing.
Called them Monday. They say d they got out of church late. Well, okay. But the guy swore they be open at 11 through the week. So I went Wednesday. Opening time was 11..I was there at straight up noon. Not a soul in sight.
I don't know what the deal is, but I'm through playing. They may have great food and all if you happen to catch them open. But it'd have to be ambrosia for me to put up with this.

Very well cooked fried chicken breast and leg. Juicy, perfectly done. The breast was extremely salty. The leg was also somewhat salty. Extremely unusual for me to complain about something having too much salt. My side item was the wrong one, perhaps substituted. Green beans were okay.
