It was our anniversary so we decided to come and grab some dinner. We were greeted and sat very quickly. We had Sherri as our waitress and she was phenomenal at the end of our dinner we were joking around and told her it was our one year anniversary and she brought out a free dessert for us, with decorative writing on the plate. 10/10 would recommend!!

I don’t know why I have never left a review! This place is awesome! I bring a small group twice a year and have done the Easter brunch once and have reservations for this year! Also go to if friends come to town and we are taking out. Had a couple of business meetings here. The staff is the best! The food is superb! I have never been disappointed. Wow! My Mom wanted to have Ocean Zen today, I hesitated because I'm very particular about where I eat Sushi. I was pleased and will return.
The atmosphere was wonderful, it was 3 p.m. and only 3 other people were eating that we saw when we walked in The color scheme/decor was elegant but not over the top.
Our server, he was amazing! He was attentive, our questions were answered and suggestions were also given.
Substitutions are also offered due to being allergic to seafood, they used soy wraps vs seaweed wraps to wrap my sushi. Which is what I look for at any sushi restaurant and were flexible to add or remove items used in their normal sushi rolls. They were very accommodating to my restrictions, and happy to do it.
The food, My Mom ordered a bento box with salmon. Her first reaction after taking a bite of her salmon, "Oh My Gosh!" and smiled! The only thing she didn't care for was the little salad mix. My Sushi rolls were the bomb! Not over sauced, fresh, and not oversized/rolled.
The price, not overpriced in my book. We will return to try other items we wanted to try today.

Server wasn’t to attentive.. took husbands drink order and took off before I could give mine.. had to wait for awhile till she was back to get my whole tables order and ask nicely “ can I put in my drink order first before my food order”?. She was nice I guess u could say, wasn’t rude by any means but I normally tip really well at places I go, especially if I have great customer service. But I would’ve given her the basic percentage you would tip on a check of that price.
Atmosphere was fantastic though food was fantastic as well. I would come back.

I found a new way to get the Zen flowing that we all need sometimes. I hit up Ocean Zen on the Southside of Springfield, Missouri, and boy am I glad we did. I met up with Chef/Owner Johnson Tan, who is the Executive Chef and creative designer of the menu.
Chef Tan builds his philosophy by letting Eat meet West in bold culinary ways. Let’s dive into the menu items we enjoyed last week.
Stop Drop & Roll - Spicy Tuna, Shrimp Tempura topped with Walu Butterfish, Shrimp, Sriracha, & Furikake $21
They light this roll on fire and in my opinion, it is one of the best Sushi Rolls in the 417. I love butterfish, and that is an item you can’t find in the area often.
Crispy Hong Kong Style Salt & Pepper Jalapeno Soft Shell Crab w Garlic, Butter, Jalapenos & Spicy Mayo $20
This dish was one of my favorites and a lot of the film crew had never had soft shell crab so that was cool to share that experience with them.
Sesame Nori Crusted Seared Rare Ahi Tuna which was Tobiko Caviar, Enoki Mushrooms, Teriyaki Soy Mustard Lobster Sauce $20
This dish was so fresh and flavorful like a tuna umami explosion in your mouth, highly recommend this dish!
The ribeye melted in your mouth and I am a huge fan of the Brandy Dijon Cream Sauce. The green beans were fried and super tender and juicy.
Chef Tan also brought us out the special that was South African Tail Lobster with a Garlic Butter Sauce. South African Tail is so sweet and one of my favorite seafoods.
I am so thankful for a restaurant like this in our area where you can leave all your troubles of the world behind when you walk into the doors of this establishment. From the divine NA Cocktails to the service, the ambiance and the flavors, this restaurant is on point!

My fiancé and I just spent our 2 year anniversary at ocean zen. This is one of our favorite restaurants and it never disappoints. From the amazing crab cheese wantons, to the yummy sushi, and delicious crème brûlée dessert, we left feeling stuffed and happy.
Our server Colin was impeccable— he was knowledgeable, attentive, kind and made sure that we always had what we needed and more. Would definitely recommend him to be your server!

You can never go wrong with this, they use real crab in the wontons, and the ribs were on point. The film crew devoured this dish after the shoot, A++
Blueberry Teriyaki Glazed Salmon - Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Asian Veggies, Crispy Shrimp Roll, Blueberry Butter Sauce $34
What a fun spin on salmon. The blueberry sauce was different and eclectic, with a great flavor combination.
Ocean Zen Signature Seafood Pasta - Butter Garlic Roasted Half Lobster Tail, Jumbo Bacon Wrapped Scallops, Seared Shrimp Stix, Rigatoni Pasta, Pesto Cream Sauce $35
The lobster was perfectly cooked and I loved the Bacon Wrapped Scallop. This was a masterpiece of a dish.
