Cash only... just an FYI Food was good

Not sure how this place stays in business with so many other amazing Thai restaurants in Springfield. Rama Thai was closed for remodel so we decided to try on a whim. The first thing they say when you walk in and someone finally comes out is *cash only". Then after we sat down the lady waiting on us, I assume one of the owners, was abrupt and rude. I would not have bothered writing a review except the food was barely edible. The chicken had fat and hard parts, the flavors just were not there at all. There were three of us and not one if the dishes was good. We eat That at Tongs and Rama Thai or a couple of others in town weekly. They are all much better. I'm guessing with no cash register they are not claiming most of the money, seemed shady all around. I really hesitate to give any restaurant a negative review but this was too much to ignore.

This is by far the best Thai restaurant in town! For the price the portions are perfect, and the food is absolutely delicious. Probably my new favorite place to eat in Springfield.

After reading the reviews for Thai Basil we were excited to get great food and exceptional service. What we found was a welcoming staff and warm atmosphere. We also experienced the small sign being held up saying cash only. We were told there was an ATM machine at a business across Sunshine. There is no ATM in this business it is at the bank next door. Then we were introduced to the worst drunken noodle dish that I have ever eaten. I had taken a bite of the noodle not realizing that it was so over cooked that it turned to paste in my mouth. My stomach lurched at the thought of having to swallow. At this point there was no other option. Either swallow the bite or spit it out in the linen napkin in front of the other people sitting with me at the table. When our server came to ask if there was anything else that we needed and could they bring us anything else, I asked if they could remove my plate please. They asked if it was ok. I explained that I could not eat the dish because of the condition of the noodles. They said thats the way that make their noodles and that is just how it is. They brought the plate back to the kitchen and the cook left the kitchen to come out and glare out at our table. When paying they did not take this amount off of the bill. It was like to bad so sad, sorry about your bad luck. I wondered why the restaurant lights were turned down to the point of barely being able to see what you were eating, now its very clear. This food can only be eaten in the dark. If you want great, consistent Thai food that represents this wonderful culture, go to Everyday Thai. Terrible experience and we will never leave Everyday Thai again. Lesson learned.

Wonderful place! Food was awesome and our server was fantastic. Just remember that the spice level is for American taste. If you like heat... Ask for Thai heat level.

My husband loves Thai food and I'm not a super fan, and did not grow up ever eating it, however.... since knowing him, he has expanded my eating experiences into the world of Thai food and I have a new love for fresh spring rolls. We ate here when it was Thai Peppers and it was a little better then I think. This time, I ordered the pad thai (first time ever and not just stealing bites off my husband's plate) and it was ok, but not the best I've ever tried. The shrimp and chicken was overcooked, but the flavor was good overall. Hubs got the mango curry and loved it. Their limonades are so good! I've started making my own at home, but theirs are so much better. The pricing is ok $$. Give this place a try and see what you think as I am not an expert of Thai cuisine haha!

We have been to other Thai restaurants in other states and in Missouri.

Our opinion based on our visit; Well, we haven't had much luck finding a great/good restaurant of late, as you can tell by our reviews. We decided to try Thai Basil that we used to go to regularly. The original owner sold this place to his daughter and she revised the original name from Thai Peppers to Thai Basil. The place is definitely still in decline and still needs a good cleaning. Evidently her father does all the cooking now. We were greeted by the new owner peeping around a small partition as we entered (scared the hell out of us) pointing to a hand written sign scrawled on a piece of paper that said "Cash only, ATM across the street". Nice. We ordered our choices, I ordered my extra hot. We waited and waited as she sat in the booth next to us talking very loudly to some friends of hers I guess. There were 3 other people dining and it was about 4:30 pm. Her father kept coming back to her table and hovering around wearing a dirty apron and talking very loudly as well. Our food arrived and mine lacked any spice at all. None, zero, zip. We didn't finish our meals and when I paid, I mentioned how my order was not extra hot and that it had no spices at all. She said they had a condiment tray to add more spice. It wasn't offered at all. She pointed to our ticket and showed how she wrote down "extra spicy"and it was not her fault. This used to be our go-to place when they first opened years ago. The entire outside has awnings that are still dirty and torn and the front was still not clean. We cannot recommend and will continue to patronize our favorite and authenic Everyday Thai.

Well !!! I was really hoping this would be good. I had been there a very long time ago when I was moving from Chicago to Springfield and the Pad Thai was pretty good. But now it is not so great. We ordered fried spring rolls as they had no option of fresh !!! I should have taken that clue as a chance to leave. No cucumber salad and just some strange options. I love Thai food and have eaten at literally 75 to 100 Thai restaurants in my time but this was not very good. Spring rolls came out frozen / cold in the middle. When our waitress came by we had shared this with her and she tried to tell us that since we have ate one apiece Blah Blah Blah !!! Well my father and I were not having it and said we would like fresh and hot ones. Those came back fine. But my Pad Kee Maow , spicy crazy noodles were soooooo soft and mushy, chicken was very tough and the green beans were way overcooked. To give them some credit the Basil tasted good and the dish was Thai spicy as per my request !!! Just took a few bites and left it. Probably just a bad night. But I'm not sure I will try it again. Not as bad as Thai express though. That is some of the worst Thai food I have ever had period. This is sub par Thai food at it's finest.

The food is good, but the service isn't great. The place was leaking water from the ceiling during a rain storm...please fix your roof!!

Came with a group of five for a relaxing meal, and got an exotic taste of sweet and spicy deliciousness. Service was excellent, and the environment was cozy and fairly clean. Don't let the run down exterior deceive you.
