Exorbitant but definitely the place to be in Springfield. Service is always amazing.
Of the three dozen Blue Points we ordered only a couple had off taste and the rest were outstanding- best you can ask for in Missouri. Drinks are spot on and other dishes were definitely freshly prepared with quality ingredients. Flavor and preparation of salmon wasn’t a favorite but still satisfactory. The atmosphere is so pleasing that I’d say the price tag is worth it. It’s a beautiful place for romance or a special occasion.

Amazing food. Hunter is a great cook. Loved the pistachio cheese cake. Also got a Ribeye with the jalapeno bacon cheese mashed potatoes. So delicious

My husband planned a date night and wanted to try somewhere “nice and new,” so we went to Char Steakhouse. We were seated right away with our reservation, and I immediately loved the romantic lighting and cozy booth seating.

The menu was a bit overwhelming for our taste, but our server, Michael, was great. He could tell we were new and kindly walked us through everything. I skipped wine and ordered the Flirtini, which was strong but tasty. We both ordered filets, an 8oz medium for me and a 14oz bone-in medium for my husband.

While waiting, we were served a bread basket which unfortunately was soggy in the middle and seemed underdone. Our entrees came out quickly, but maybe too quickly, since my husband’s steak was nearly rare in the middle. The staff was very apologetic and took it back, but by the time it returned (perfectly cooked the second time), I was nearly finished with my meal. The chef personally brought it out with a fresh side, again very apologetic, though his comment about “those being so thick they take forever to cook” wasn’t exactly what we wanted to hear.

Overall, the food was good, but not quite as impressive as we expected for the price point. They did comp our dessert, which was delicious and much appreciated. It was a nice evening, but probably not one we’d rush to repeat. My husband jokes that he still prefers Colton’s. 😉

Exceptional Service from Collin at Char

Our dining experience at Char was truly elevated by the impeccable service from Collin. From the moment we were seated, he made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. Collin went above and beyond—not only recommending outstanding dishes, but first taking the time to ask about our preferences and tastes before offering thoughtful, personalized suggestions. Every recommendation was perfectly suited to our palate and complemented the flow of the meal beautifully.

Throughout the evening, Collin balanced attentiveness and discretion with ease. Our glasses were never empty, plates were timed perfectly between courses, and he seemed to anticipate what we needed before we even had to ask. His professionalism, knowledge of the menu, and warm, confident demeanor set the tone for an exceptional fine-dining experience.

It’s rare to encounter service that feels both polished and genuinely personal, but Collin delivered exactly that. He is a true credit to Char, and we’ll absolutely be requesting him for every visit!

Apps were amazing, steak was mid. Had that dry aged flavor that you either love or hate. If you like it, you will love this place. If that isn't your flavor profile, then not so much. Fantastic service.

Sadly this is not the same place it used to be. The last two visits back to back resulted in forgetten orders. In talking to a colleague this happened to them as well.
The fish was overcooked and chewy, trust steak was average.
I cannot say I will being going back to visit again. Which is a shame but it is not worth the experience anymore

My husband and I just move to Springfield from Colorado and decided to have a night out for our anniversary at Char. We had such a pleasant experience from the moment we walked in! The hostess was lovely, our booth was cozy and quiet, the food, cocktails, and wine were all perfection, but the cherry on top was our server, Collin. He was knowledgable, personable, and took the entire experience up a notch by making us feel like we were guests in his home. We are already planning our next date night to Char!

I recently attended a wedding rehearsal dinner at Char, and I can't say enough good things about the experience. The food was outstanding—each dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. From appetizers to the main course, everything was cooked to perfection.

What an experience! Nona, Daisy, Carley, Ethan, manager Justin, and team absolutely blew us away with their warmth, professionalism, and genuine care. Their willingness to go above and beyond made the night unforgettable. The food? Phenomenal, hands down the best restaurant in Southwest Missouri. We’re already planning to return to Springfield just to eat here again. Keep it up, Char squad, we need you on the East Coast too!
