This was our third time dining here and every time has been excellent. We made a reservation through open table for 5:30p on Valentine's Day. They seated us quickly and service was great overall. We started with deviled eggs and they were very delicious. Then we had three butter lettuce salad with cranberries and pecans and that was also very delicious. For our main course, we had the filet and it was phenomenal. Since it was Valentine's, we indulged in some dessert and the cookie with vanilla icecream was next level. We had an incredible dinner and are very happy overall and will definitely dine here again.
really great for a quiet one on one experience with your partner, the coke was amazing, the scenery is old school witch I really like, overall was a great experience and service was spot on.
The place is really cool. We were directed to the basement for our table and met with our waiter quickly. We noticed some residue in our cups and asked if we could have new ones, our waiter assured us they were cleaned and proceeded to pour water and leave the table. Our water was soapy. The rest of the evening was great, food was a little bit of a wait but to be expected Valentines weekend. Our waiter seemed to be more attentive to other tables and did not ask us if we would like a refill on our beer/cider or dessert - which we would have ordered. Food was hot and delicious.
I have never had a bad meal or experience at Main House. Their staff are super friendly and amazing, the steaks cooked to perfection and do not sleep on the sea bass!
Our dinner last night had a wonderful surprise. We were sat in a section of the restaurant we had not been in before. The Main House has an area for private parties in the basement of the building. This was such a naturally beautiful rustic feel because of the age of the building. The food was delicious and great service as usual, and the added ambiance, we will always have a special memory for this Valentine's Day.
Wonderful experience. The food is fantastic, (I got the pork chop, my husband the steak) with excellent sides. Service was lovely(Grace), and the atmosphere is relaxed and historic.
I went here for the first time last night and one of the specials which was a scallop/pasta dish. The scallops were a little gray and chewy… They served four large scallops with the pasta and I only ate one because they didn’t seem right. There was also a handful of sun-dried tomatoes, which was just too much for the dish. I didn’t say anything at the restaurant because it was my friend‘s birthday and I didn’t want to be one of “those people” but for a $50 plate, it was absolutely not worth it. Not a very good first impression in my opinion. These are the refrigerated leftovers the next day I was about to reheat, but unfortunately, I am going to throw them away to be safe.

Bottom line, Won’t be back.
$200+ bill for a family of 4 with tip(even after my $40 salmon pasta was removed from the bill) … customer service lacks. tired of lack luster experiences at top dollar prices.
The basement seating is nowhere as warm in atmosphere as the main floor but was initially thankful they squeezed us in to the basement.
Brussel sprouts, were overly oily, truffle fries were nothing special and overpriced, Alfredo pasta - bland and they didn’t cook steak as requested but everyone was absolutely starving … so they ate. However, my $40 salmon pasta was raw in center, we asked that it be cooked longer since it was raw. Most restaurants would never ask for the piece of fish back but rather take the dish or remake the whole meal - they just “took the fish” so they could heat it back up. In twenty minutes, never got the fish back and everyone finished their meal so we just told them to take the pasta back too and remove it from the bill.
The server was very apologetic and we of course told her it wasn’t her fault and all is okay but the issue is that no one from the restaurant management came over to make anything right, ask us how we were doing or apologize for a backed up kitchen or not being able to serve a corrected dish in the hour + time we were there and it was very noticeable the food coming from the kitchen was so underwhelming especially for the price.
Again tired of having these experiences and not leaving reviews because I write it off as a bad night and feel bad about doing so. So there’s our take on a Friday night.

Really nice find in historic St. Charles downtown. Service was great. Food and drink were awesome. Pork chop, tenderloin medallions and Chilean sea bass. Salads were great. I loved their Caesar. We will definitely go again. We were seated in the basement. Nice feel down there too.
First time sitting inside for dinner in awhile and we enjoyed the atmosphere very much. The interior is beautiful and very well done. Our server was very friendly and attentive and made sure to check on us frequently even though it got very busy. We enjoyed a couple of Old Fashioned to start along with a Wedge Salad. The wedge was very good and the bacon they use is outstanding. My wife had a filet and I had the beef tenderloin. Her steak was done exactly right and was very tasty. The Tenderloin comes with a horseradish cream sauce which is very good. The have a nice wine list with some reasonable choices. We like the Buehler Cabernet. Looking forward to our next visit!
This was our first visit to Main House and we were celebrating my wife's birthday. We did have a reservation and were seated immediately. We were served by JP and he did an excellent job. He made some good recommendations and was attentive. My wife had the Seabass which was the evening special and I had the Salmon à la Vodka. Both meals were delicious. We also started with the French onion soup and it's definitely one of the better ones we have had. The evening was capped with a flourless chocolate cake which was amazing. The only negative is the noise level is quite high. We could still have a conversation but had to really focus on what the other person was saying. We did go on a Friday night which was very busy. The noise level might be lower at different times. Overall, it was a great experience and we will definitely return.
Outdoors seating area was very nice. Server was nice with quick but not overbearing service. The food was pretty good but not great. I would definitely go again to sit outside when it's nice out.
