Amigo Joe's Mexican Restaurant and Cantina

Great value

Amigo Joe's is our go-to local Mexican restaurant. The food is delicious and service is wonderful.

Server was awesome with our party of 15. Be kind and call ahead to inform of large parties. It's a courtesy, and our server was appreciative. She was most excellent. The Texas nachos are my favorite. Had an ultimate margarita, lime, on the rocks. It was pretty good. Definitely one of my go-to Mexican restaurants.

met up with our kids and had a great waiter. weekend had a 1 year old with us and he was very kind and accommodating. food was Fabulous and I loved the guacamole. there was 5 adults and a toddler

We had been visiting the zoo and we knew that we needed really good food after the day we had. The atmosphere is pretty typical of a Mexican restaurant, and it was really nice. The service was incredibly friendly and our waitress was personable and kind. She made light conversation, and was really quick with refills and checking in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was incredible. The salsa they bring out has these amazingly fresh flavors, and then there's a kick to it after about two seconds that leaves you craving more. I had a type of burrito that had shrimp, steak and chicken in it with onions and bell peppers. It was a dream and was covered in the most delicious white cheese sauce. My husband got a more basic dish, but he said it was incredibly flavorful and he was very satisfied. I also tried a banana margarita and it was delicious. The waitress said that they are increasing in popularity because more people are enjoying the banana margaritas. I am so glad we picked this restaurant which was both close to our hotel and the zoo that we had visited.

American restaurant with some hispanic food. Seems a good place to go get drunk and listen to pop music. Not really a "mexican" restaurant.

Waited 35 minutes for an appetizer--it wasn't cooked completely and had to be sent back. Was pretty good when it came back.

Waited an hour and 10 minutes for two very normal entrees but they came out lukewarm and had obviously just been sitting and waiting. Would have walked out if I had been by myself.

The server was friendly and might be one of those kitschy neighborhood dive situations but between the carpeted floors, excessive TVs, and abysmal food service I wouldn't eat there for free.

I have only eaten here once and I very much enjoyed it.

Fried Chicken- I had the spicy version of this and it was great. The perfect amount of spice for the dish. I was surprised at how often the fried chicken was recommended since this is a Mexican restaurant, but now I can see why. Very good.

This chicken is 1000 out of 10!! A must try so flavorful. Our waitress was so sweet even told us how the chicken was marinated to the bone! Will be back.

Really good chips and salsa. I'm guessing all their "ground beef options" just taste like grocery store seasoning packets, so maybe try avoiding it. The mega Alambre was very tasty.

Waitress never came by again after dropping off the food.
