WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THIS PLACE?
I came here twice this summer, had a great experience, and then on Friday, 1/9/26, my friend and I decided to go back since we like it so much. WRONG CHOICE. Got there a little before our reservation, and with maybe three parties seated in the whole place, the hostess seats us at the tiniest table, literally right inside the back door. Like, there is no one in there, and had had to seat us in the WORST possible spot, NO ONE WOULD CHOOSE TO SIT THERE! Super cramped around the tiniest table imaginable, especially for ordering food!
We order a charcuterie board, which was skimpy and NOT worth $25, and a flatbread. Charcuterie came out, and we ate…and proceeded to wait, and wait….and wait. The waiter, while very nice, comes out with what we thought was our flatbread, asks if we got our flatbread, and proceeds to walk to another table, ask if they ordered it, and if they mind if he gives it to us since ordered first, and then comes back and give it to us. WILD. We eat and order another martini. The chocolate raspberry. We get it, taste it, and both of us immediately are taken aback with how awful it was. I’m talking straight up cough syrup. We both can handle a strong liquor taste, but this was not a drinkable drink to either one of us. We call the waiter over and describe it and tell him we’d like to send it back and order something else. He proceeds to take our drinks back to the bar, and after awhile, we get our tried and true drinks in their place. Upon delivering our new drinks, the waiter says we had a bartender in training, apologized, and says, “it took some convincing, but they decided to not charge you for the drinks you sent back.” We thank him, grateful, but bewildered at the statement. I’ve never once sent back a drink in my life. Neither has my friends, we’re super easy going, and don’t like to cause a fuss, but these drinks, were not acceptable in any way. We talk and drink for a bit longer, I go to the restroom, get back and my friend goes, “You’ll never believe what just happened….”
She continues to say that the hostess came back to say they had another reservation and we need to “wrap it up.” Now, mind you, we had a reservation at 7 pm, got there about 6:45 pm, and it was just now approaching 8:30 pm. We had only been there an hour and a half, and most of that time was spend waiting on our food to be brought out! We basically got asked to leave, and that’s the first time I’ve ever experienced this. Mind you, we ordered three drinks each, and food…so we weren’t just taking up space. Our bill combined was close around $140, and we ordered food and drinks, so I feel like it was completely unwarranted to ask us to leave….i felt bad for the waiter, because we probably would have stayed and kept ordering, and he would have gotten a fatter tip, but this really ruined the whole experience for us. It’s such a shame because I loved this place, and brought several friends here on different occasions, but after this, I don’t think I’ll be going back. I hope someone in management reads this, and fixes all the weird and disappointing things happening here…

So fun! A bar/dessert bar dedicated to chocolate! If you're worried about your figure this might not be for you. If you want to indulge and show others that you are an adult and can eat and drink chocolate for dinner you need to go here! Drinks are unique and decadent. Desserts are fabulous. Loved it loved it loved it!!

Always wonderful drinks and desserts. They make their own ice cream. Different chocolate martinis are amazing. The flatbread pizza was pretty good as well. The space is pretty small and very dark and can be considered romantic. Has a speakeasy type feel. Service was excellent.

“Don’t touch the roses!!!!” Says the rude bartender named TERRA. After all I did was look at it! Next time girl, talk more professionally next time and say these exact words “ma’am I’m so sorry, we don’t allow our customers to touch the roses.” And do it with a softer tone next time. By some of the reviews, this unprofessionalism wasn’t the first.

I want to start this review by expressing how genuinely excited I have been to try Baileys Chocolate Bar. I had actually found this resturant back in a July trip, and had not been able to visit until a trip to STL for the weekend before Christmas.

Unfortinately, it was an altogether horrible experience. The trouble started from entry (even though parking is not ideal, either...). The entry space is extremely cramped. We were the second party to arrive for our reservation, and another two-person walked in after us. There was no greeter ready to confirm reservations. My partner had to walk up to the bar to ask about our reservation, while an exiting party attempted navigate to the door that was being totally blocked by at least 7 people waiting to be seated for their reservation.

This discomfort did not last long, as the bartender called over someone to work on the reservation arrivals. We were brought to the back of the resturant thinking the difficult awkwardnwss would be over. It was not.

I am a fat person, and I would be incorrect to say there was a single other plus size person in this entire resturant - which wouldnt be important, except we were placed at one of the available high top 2-seater tables. There were 4 other low-top tables available (1 4-person, 2 2-person, and 2 recliner type chairs facing each other. Immediately, before even taking a seat, we asked the server if we could change seats. He told us no, and cited there being reservations. Okay, so we sat down... or up, I should say.

The situation got increasingly frustrating, as a new party arrived & the 2 2-person tables were scooted together. I didnt understand why the 4-person couldnt accommodate them, when it was obvious I was visibly uncomfortable. I had to scoot my chair into the walkway a bit so that i wasnt hugging the cold brick wall. BTW- they have lit candles (WITH FIRE) on theTABLE, so I couldnt even adjust myself on the seat by using the table.

And thats how we waited. We came in expecting to pay a pretty penny - Two martinis, 2 nosh sides, and maybe even a dessert to share. As we sat there in complete discomfort, we continued to watch three waiters scurry about the room, hoping each time that we would have someone come to our table. We continued to watch as multiple parties that arrived after us were served multiple times. I mean, one table had had their martinis and desserts before we had been able to talk to a waiter. As we continued to wait, what we planned to order continued to be less and less, until we were just going to get martinis and leave.

While we did get a chocolate cookie (without ordering them) and a glass of water each, we continued to wait and wait in the discomfort of the high top. Eventually, the table next to us left, so my partner immediately got up to find the waiter and ask if we could be moved there once the table was cleaned.

He said no.

My partner, who knew how excited I have been and how long I had waited to try this place, went ahead and found someone else to ask. I believe the person he found was the hostess. She said that we could switch, but at that point, my back was cramping up and my leg was going numb from sitting in a METAL HIGH TOP CHAIR WITH NO CUSHION.

So, we went ahead and decided to leave. We were there for a little over 35 minutes.

I wish it would have been better. I was really excited to experience this.

Such a romantic place to visit. If you want to do something super romantic, or super intimate, this is the place to go. I took my wife here for her birthday after dinner because the description sounds so romantic, and it didn't disappoint. Looks very unassuming from the outside, but when you walk in, different atmosphere. The table set-up was very classy and our server (Justin, I believe that's his name) was Out of this world wonderful! The only issue I had was that the lights were super dim, however, that is a part of the attraction and atmosphere so it was definitely all good because of why we were visiting. The drinks and the menu were beautifully explained and the presentations were just as beautiful. We will be back!

Beautiful spot with a cool dark vibe. The food is light and good.

We had to wait a while for our server to come over but that was the only hiccup in our experience.

The space is small and can get loud. There was a table of four lady that were so loud you could hear their conversation through the whole seating area.

We had the lovers plate thing ($20 something) and some hot chocolates ($8 each). The hot chocolate was nasty, I would not recommend.

I really wanted to love this place but the bartender ruined our whole experience. The ambience was nice and drinks were good. Our waiter was very nice as well. The only reason I’m giving it 1 star because of the rude bartender which was the guy with glasses. First of all when we walked in, he already looked like he was annoyed we was even there. All he asked was if we had reservations. We said yes then we asked if we can seat anywhere because nothing was said about where to seat us or where to go. We both ordered drinks and my friend didn’t like her drink so she sent it back and got something different which he acted like he was annoyed about. The Waiter was understanding about it. My friend and I were just sitting and talking, then I noticed every time I looked up he was staring at me. I thought I was tripping. We decided to just get drinks and grab food somewhere else since they only had mostly desserts. The waiter brought us the check and we paid with cash. Then we talked for like 15 more minutes then got up to leave. The bartender then yells “you didn’t pay” . We said “yes we did”. He then says well I don’t show you paid. I said “well we did and we paid with cash”. He then walks to the back to ask the waiter. It was so rude and I don’t like how he tried to put us on blast in front of other customers. The thing is he didn’t even apologize for accusing us of not paying. So my friend went back in and confronted him about not even apologizing and his reply was “That was the plan but yall already was walking out”. Still not taking accountability. My thing is if you not sure if we paid , GO ASK THE WAITER before confronting the customer !! You not seeing it in your system is between you and the waiter!! Not our problem!! You could of just asked instead of assuming. I don’t like to throw the race card out but now that I’m reading the reviews from other people, that’s what it’s giving. His customer service skills sucks and makes me not even want to come back. And to think I was going to make a TikTok review on this place with a good review smh I’m about ready to post a bad review instead. Again the waiter was very nice. But the bartender don’t need to be working there

The vibes? Impeccable.

The dessert? Delicious.

Our waiter (Jimmy)? Literally the sweetest person alive.

We had an amazing time here. Such a good date night. Everything tastes great and the setting is so romantic.

The service was incredible. Jimmy waited on us, and even though he was clearly new, he did such a good job and really made our night. He was attentive without being overbearing, and we just really enjoyed every interaction we had with him.

They were able to accommodate our party of two on a Friday night without a reservation.

The Dubai chocolate martini was incredible, albeit with an unusual texture. The brownie was big enough to share and exactly what you want out of a brownie.

My only complaint-- with offerings so rich, please provide larger glasses of water. The tiny glasses at the table do little to quench one's thirst or wash down such decadent desserts.

We waited a bit to get our check but another server stepped in to do so, so the collaborative service was greatly appreciated.

I'll be back for another martini before it leaves the seasonal menu. Thanks!!

Nice little romantic dessert oriented restaurant. The cookies really stood out above the other desserts. We had the lovers platter, I believe.

Definitely a good place for couples.
