St. Louis is stronger for having unoque offerings like Blue Ocean! The building owners have pushed out Ben and his team to make room for a new tenant and that is very damaging to small businesses. Hopefully Blue Ocean can return đ

Blue Ocean - St. Louis is my favorite spot for vegetarian sushi, hands down! We've been going to them for over a decade, and they have so many fun and unique veggie rolls! They have daily specials but Wednesday's is currently the best value for veg rolls ($8 regular rolls). They will be moving out of their Delmar loop location soon, and I can't wait to see where they land so I can hopefully keep eating this delicious sushi for years and years to come!
My favorite (vegetarian) rolls:
- tempura fried cali (remove crab!!)
- sweet tofu (very unique!)
- spicy asparagus & cream cheese!!
- fried sweet potato
- Hazbin & Cajun Fun Guy are both new and very good (I just love the other ones a bit more!)

Excellent food, service, drinks, and atmosphere. We received some recommendations from the staff that were spot on. They only had the late menu available so we started with some appetizers that were top tier by far. The Goons, Edemambe, and the Fried spring rolls were on another level. Then the main dishes came out and my mind was blown.

Got there at around 7pm last night and was taken to our table. Was told that someone would be over shortly with waters. Sat there for about 30 minutes without being acknowledged once. Had workers literally walk past us several times and everytime I tried to get anyones attention they ran past us. I have never had to walk out of a place before but after waiting for 30 minutes without anyone even asking if we needed help I was fed up. I would also like to add that it wasnât all that busy and I saw atleast 5 people working. I have never even left a review for a restaurant before because I can totally understand being busy and overwhelmed but I can not excuse being ignored. Which it was very apparent they were just ignoring us

The restaurant was 1/3 full. We waited for an hour for 2 sushi rolls and gyoza. We asked several times about the wait as we had somewhere to go. We were told the sushi would take 10 more minutes and it took 25-30

I made the mistake of not reading the low reviews before coming here. The vibes were alright. There was little wait time for the curry that I ordered. However, right after I took my first bite, I saw a HUGE ROACH IN PLAIN VIEW RUNNING TOWARDS ME ACROSS THE FLOOR. When I informed the waitress, she apologized and helped me box up my food quickly. But no one offered any discounts or any other form of compensation for this horror. Absolutely unacceptable to have such pests in plain view in your establishment. The food was good (hence the extra star) but I am NOT coming back here to risk my health with whatever other horrors they have running around that I didn't see.

I arrived at the location at 8:04pm on 09/06/2025. I was meeting two childhood friends for dinner. The restaurant says it closes or at least stop serving food at 9pm. I had my friend order prepared because she texted it to me. The digital menu that the servers is to place orders is stationed near the front door. It took almost 3-4 mins for me to be acknowledged by the server placing an order. Then he said he would be with me in a minute. (He was black/brown bald head slender build). He then sat me near the window table which was fine with three menus as requested and never came back. The table to my left were two women who seemed to be inpatient with the server as well but , did not voice their concerns. I wanted 30 mins for the server to acknowledge or stop by or even give eye contact. There was a female server who went to ask him if he was getting my table and he said yes and still did not come. I still cannot believe I waited 30 mins for service. At some point I just wanted to see how long he would actually take. Iâve worked in the service industry in my youth and all throughout college. I am OUTDONE at the lack of urgency of servers these days. To the point I felt compelled to actually leave a review. I actually texted my third party member and told them, DONT COM! Me and my second party member got up and moved to the bar. The bartender gave exceptional service by just being him. He was a white guy with a ponytail super chill. The bartender made one hell of a Devils Grandma drink.

31 minutes. We sat at a table for 31 minutes waiting for just a pitcher of water. NO servers in that building made eye contact or came to bring us water let alone take an order. We took it upon ourselves to finally move to the bar to receive any type of service because we had our hearts set on sushi. Thankfully, your bartender that night wasnât as rude as your waiters & waitress. Even after we moved, our âwaiterâ didnât acknowledge us or apologize. I wish I caught his name. (Young, bald, African-American man), so I can give him a proper shout out for worst service of the night . PLEASE do better with your staff.

Food is decent, but the food to price ratio is a little off (i.e., if it were slightly cheaper or slightly higher quality I'd like it more). Also, be careful when paying with card; the percentage tip that their card reader automatically calculates isn't accurate. I didnât realize it till afterwards, but it said it was 20% and it was actually like 23% (after tax)
