Always looking for a new pizza place, preferably mom and pop type. This fit the bill. Arrived Monday Dec. 29 2024 at 11:15. We were the only people there and once the owner finished his phone call (2 minutes) he came to our table and took our drink order. He seemed very pleasant. I ordered a caesar salad and deep dish sausage pizza. My brother ordered the Bono special. The salad was good size, cold and excellent. The owner Tony explained the pizza would take a little longer as it was deep dish. Both arrived in a reasonable time and looked fantastic. My brother enjoyed his pizza very much. I am reviewing my meal only. I love going to Chicago and eating at Lou Malneti's. A favorite of mine. The pizza at Bono's was every bit as good if not slightly better. The pizza was steaming hot when it arrived. My first bite was enough to convince me to write this review. Wow, what a flavor. It was literally perfect. The red sauce was amazing, very flavorful. The tomatoes were incredibly tasty. The sausage was some of the best I've ever had and the crust was perfect. After finishing our meal and boxed the remaining pizza, I complimented Tony on a great meal. He explained that his family owned the restaurant Calico's that I remembered from the 70's. I grew up near their restaurant on Old Olive and frequented it often. He mentioned that he makes the same creamy italian dressing his dad made at Calico's. I can't wait to visit again and try that. Tony was very pleasant, very attentive and genuinely appeared to appreciate our business. I look forward to my next visit and highly recommend Bono's Pizzeria.

Phenomenal pizza. It was soooo good and a great price too. I had the new york style with sausage and pep as well as a Margherita neopolitan. Definitely coming back and recommending to others.

We traveled 45 minutes into town to give the pizza a shot. We saw a video on TikTok and it looked amazing! It took about 15 minutes to even get a drink order in, there were only two other parties sitting at tables, it was not very busy. After waiting another 20 or so minutes for mozzarella sticks, they came out and the cheese was still cold on the inside. After about 50 minutes, they brought us another tables pizza and brought it back and said they were gonna have to remake our order. We unfortunately had to leave without pizza because we had tickets to a show. Willing to give it another shot because the pizza just looks that good, but very disappointed with the first visit.

This place is a hidden gem, the lady had been wanting to check this place out for a few weeks and we finally found some time to make it happen. Pizzal was awesome, Caesar salad was also awesome. The waitress we had was great. A must try for anyone looking for Chicago style pizza..

Totally disorganized/chaotic, but very nice, service. Dirty tables. Long wait for food. Pizza was 3-ish stars but everything else took it down to 2 stars.

Bono’s pizza is a great place to chill with friends and family and have some good food! 🥘
The people working there are extremely nice and friendly, the food is genuinely good and it’s kid friendly.
Their pizzas are traditional style, served in metal plates ( which I love! Like the old times! )
At night there’s parking on the other side of the alley ( not sure which org is that but I didn’t see any signs 🪧 saying don’t park here! ) there’s also few parking spots in the front and side of the restaurant ..
The kitchen is visible from the seating area which gives it a warm and welcoming vibe! There’s also a bar on the other side.
The building and decoration is old and not spectacular, but that also gives the restaurant a unique character, like a humble little place who cares for good food more than a fancy presentation! Idk 🤷♂️
One cool thing to notice: There’s a cool large satellite dish looking at the sky on the other side of the alley 📡 not sure but might be for a bank or something
There’s isn’t really much more to add, I’d recommend this place!

I ordered A New York-style pizza from Bono’s Pizza, expecting that authentic NY taste that I know well as a New Yorker. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet my expectations. The crust was much too thick to be considered true New York-style, and the flavor overall was pretty bland. The cheese also lacked the richness I’d expect. It might suit some tastes, but for those looking for a genuine New York-style slice, it misses the mark. Hoping they can make some adjustments in the future.

I’m sorry to say it was the most bland pizza I’ve had in some time, red sauce taste like plain tomato paste, you should add some garlic or anything would be an improvement. The peppers taste like bagged frozen which is fine for some dishes but not pizza as the flavor is vague. Had the Special and could only taste a bland red sauce and sausage, if you open a restaurant your food should pop out from everyone else’s & leave a lasting impression.

10 out of 10. Great food, great service. My only critique would be to give a heads up as my Chicago style took an hour. I later learned that that is typical for Chicago Style.
We sat at the bar at 8:45pm, and want to make it very clear that Maggie was phenomenal! The 3/5 stars is only because she had to make up for the angry back of house employee who came out and yelled at her directly in front of us and refused to make part of order. She deserves six stars and he deserves none. We ordered our pizza with ricotta and he told her that they don’t have it, although it is listed on the menu with the calzones. We understand that even though it is available, every establishment does things a little bit differently, and to request that is asking for some degree of costumer service. Not a big deal, not an option here. More importantly, we ordered pasta (fettuccini alfredo) to go at the same time we ordered our pizza and he refused to make that as well. We were watching Monday Night football but felt due to the antics of the back of house employee we needed to leave . He was rude and unaccommodating.
