I asked myself why haven't we ordered Bonos pizza in the past 10 years,so I thought let's try it again, after the first bite I remembered why, thick doughy crust, terrible sauce, and the topper they gave us the wrong pizza, I had better pizza from Costco which is also terrible.
We got the New York style pizza. The crust was burnt. Our waitress came and got our order then later plopped plated, silverware and napkins on the table and walked away. After a very long wait she brought our pizza sat it on the table and walked away. She never came back to the table. We had to go ask for a box. Then we had to go to the counter for our check. Then she never came to get the money for the check so we had to go back up to pay. The pizza sauce was super thin like it had been watered down. However the salvage yard 9 blocks away has an amazing Chicago style pizza. That is where we will go for now on if we want really good pizza. Never again will we pay for burnt bland pizza.
Great food and experience!
It was really a good time, met the owner, a swell fella and talked a bit...my son and I had the Chicago style pizza, one with the house made sausage and one with the pepperoni...both pizza's were absolutely fantastic...the sauce was super fresh and tasty, cheese perfect, toppings great and the buttery crust perfect too...we will return❗
Food said it would be ready at 220. When my husband showed up they said it would be another 35 minutes they messed up the food. Then got the food home and there was a hair. It was deep in the sauce and bell peppers. Never again. Called to let them know and was told someone would call back but that never happened.
When are you going to open one on the west side as in LAKE ST. Louis, Wentzville area.?
Blackthorn in South City Much better Deep dish. Been around since the 1980s.
We had the meatball sandwich and the Philly steak sandwich. Both were delicious! I can't wait to go back and try the pizza ! It looked great !

Always looking for a new pizza place, preferably mom and pop type. This fit the bill. Arrived Monday Dec. 29 2024 at 11:15. We were the only people there and once the owner finished his phone call (2 minutes) he came to our table and took our drink order. He seemed very pleasant. I ordered a caesar salad and deep dish sausage pizza. My brother ordered the Bono special. The salad was good size, cold and excellent. The owner Tony explained the pizza would take a little longer as it was deep dish. Both arrived in a reasonable time and looked fantastic. My brother enjoyed his pizza very much. I am reviewing my meal only. I love going to Chicago and eating at Lou Malneti's. A favorite of mine. The pizza at Bono's was every bit as good if not slightly better. The pizza was steaming hot when it arrived. My first bite was enough to convince me to write this review. Wow, what a flavor. It was literally perfect. The red sauce was amazing, very flavorful. The tomatoes were incredibly tasty. The sausage was some of the best I've ever had and the crust was perfect. After finishing our meal and boxed the remaining pizza, I complimented Tony on a great meal. He explained that his family owned the restaurant Calico's that I remembered from the 70's. I grew up near their restaurant on Old Olive and frequented it often. He mentioned that he makes the same creamy italian dressing his dad made at Calico's. I can't wait to visit again and try that. Tony was very pleasant, very attentive and genuinely appeared to appreciate our business. I look forward to my next visit and highly recommend Bono's Pizzeria.

Phenomenal pizza. It was soooo good and a great price too. I had the new york style with sausage and pep as well as a Margherita neopolitan. Definitely coming back and recommending to others.

We traveled 45 minutes into town to give the pizza a shot. We saw a video on TikTok and it looked amazing! It took about 15 minutes to even get a drink order in, there were only two other parties sitting at tables, it was not very busy. After waiting another 20 or so minutes for mozzarella sticks, they came out and the cheese was still cold on the inside. After about 50 minutes, they brought us another tables pizza and brought it back and said they were gonna have to remake our order. We unfortunately had to leave without pizza because we had tickets to a show. Willing to give it another shot because the pizza just looks that good, but very disappointed with the first visit.

This place is a hidden gem, the lady had been wanting to check this place out for a few weeks and we finally found some time to make it happen. Pizzal was awesome, Caesar salad was also awesome. The waitress we had was great. A must try for anyone looking for Chicago style pizza..
