Stopped by this place after a trip to the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. I believe it's the closest bar and restaurant to the Arch. We had some appetizers and a pizza for lunch and a pizza for and early dinner. The beer is cold. The drinks are made pretty well. This is a great place to stop after visiting the Arch. The fried ravioli is awesome. The sauce adds to the outstanding flavor. The hamburger rolls are tasty. Also, the fried mushrooms are equally tasty. You may ask, "why only 4 stars?" Well, the staff is not that attentive. This place seems to be a locals hangout, and we'll, as such, if the bartender doesn't know you, you'll get somewhat ignored. However, knowing that, the food is good and the bar is well stocked. Give it a try. 5 stars for food, 2 stars for service. Don't be in a hurry and you'll be fine. If you are in a hurry, skip this place.

Excellent food...came here twice while in town. Service was good the first time and meh the second. Pricing was very fair and will make this a location I come eat at every time I'm in town.

Came in after Cardinal game. Was told 25 min wait and escorted to sit to side (inside). Attempted to purchase drinks from bar while wait- no luck. Placed a to-go order, again 25 minutes, and another wait (25 min) and another attempt to buy from bar. Was yelled at by bartender that this was the wait / to go area and they did not take drink orders at this end of the bar. First time visit to Cardinals- First time visit to this restaurant. #GoCards. Won't try this place again.

Wanted a bite to eat 2 hours before dodgers and cards and ballpark village was a 2 hour wait. Decided to walk and try out caleco's. Great choice. They had a wait for tables but we sat at the bar. Heather was outstanding. Ordered med rare burger, well done, no big deal, short staffed like everywhere else.

Caleco's is Downtown & in walking distance of the hotel we chose. They're open after midnight which is great. The service was pretty fast and friendly. The drink was a little stronger than I'd prefer but it was still good. The hot wings had seasoning, but there wasn't very much sauce at all. The pizza was so good and cooked perfectly! I would definitely recommend checking out this restaurant. It's a for sure go to next time we're in STL.

Excellent food and service. From the greeter to the very busy server all were attentive and kept checking in with us. Pasta was delicious. We had Chicken Carbonara, and Cajun pasta.

We came here after looking up places to eat near the arch. The menu looked extensive and we were on foot. It was a Wednesday early afternoon in early August. Just a party of two. My husband orders appetizers everywhere so if they're terrible we can avoid waiting for a whole meal. He got the potato skins and the Buffalo chicken dip. The skins were good but we devoured the dip!! It was excellent. For our entree we got pizza, the waitress recommended that or any one of their pastas. The pizza was okay. Nothing super special. The ham and sausage are finely diced and the sauce was good. I took off a star because the service was mediocre. We ran into that a lot in the Midwest. Being from Vegas we're used to above average service (that is our industry!). The waitress didn't refill drinks without being flagged down, or being extra napkins for what was essentially all finger food. Minor stuff, but it adds up.

Only reason this isn't a one star (or zero if it were an option) is because I know all of the restaurants in this area a really short staffed, so if that turns around maybe they can pull out of the absolute nose dive this place has taken into the dirt. Terrible service at the bar, not busy, seemed totally manageable however the bartender made it seem like ordering a drink was just about the hardest thing she had ever been asked to do. A draft pull took 25 mins, meanwhile 3 people also ordered and waited to be served...terrible. Absolutely no reason for this. And based on the other reviews not long before mine, this seems like par for the course. Hey bartender, if you hate it so much, do something else, seriously. Upon getting seated, the waiter was apologetic and explained they were short staffed but then proceeded to totally foul up over 50 percent of the orders, with no real explanation except that maybe he was having a bad day. I ordered a ribeye sandwich rare, it came out well done but tasted decent, no chance in hell I would send it back after waiting 30 minutes for it to arrive. The noodles with white sauce was more like mac and cheese that had sat in a big pot for a few days and got tossed into a microwave just before service, ironically my kids loved it, why not. The manager stopped by and regaled us with a peppy sports story that, while interesting, left no opportunity to bring up or even hint at the massive shortcomings his restaurant was facing. I have to give it to him for smiling and being personable but seriously man, your business is going to close in a few weeks or less if it continues like this. Do not go here under its current condition unless you are looking to be miserable and disappointed.

I was in this place three years ago and I loved it i told all my friends back in Tampa about it. I'm back in STL for the Foo Fighters concert and a Cards game and I decdied to come to Caleco's. This place has done a complete 180. The menu has been reduced to nothing and what's left on the menu they didn't have tonight. They're not even 50% full and the kitchen is overwhelmed and the bartender copped an attitude. When I, along with a few other people, asked for something she didn't respond.. When we repeated our requests she snapped back with "I heard you!" I probably should've just dined at the Hilton where I'm staying. At least they know how to treat people. Another thing that bothered me was the fact that they charge an instant 18% gratuity for dining after 6 p.m. That's unheard of. They charge that for parties of eight or more, which I understand having been a bartender a long time ago. But charging an instant gratuity for dining after 6 is ridiculous. In closing, remember the six P's. Proper planning prevents piss-poor performance.

My experience was at 10pm on a Sunday night so this may have had something to do with our experience. Staff did not greet us for well over 5 minutes. A bus person came up and he told us without asking him anything, so not order streaks, burgers or chicken breast, they are awful. The cook over does them and you will not like and so they will do is say next time we will give you a deal. Odd I thought. Finally got seated and waitress seemed tired and didn't want anymore customers, she even stated as they were saying another table, I said no more. She was pleasant and did a very good job checking with us. Pasta with sausage was good but instead of creamy parm sauce it was separated and a butter sauce. Tasted fine though. Place was clean and nice inside.

First time eating here. We stopped by after the cardinals game, as we were walking back to our hotel. My hubby got the turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes. Wow, LARGE servings! I had pizza, and it was very good. Their house salad and hot bacon dressing was outstanding! Definitely will be returning!

Toasted ravioli was tiny, over cooked, over priced, and not good. Took over an hour for a 10 inch St Louis style pizza to come out. Waiter was avoiding our table and barely stopped by. A table next to us sat down after us and got their larger pizza before us. Poor service and not the greatest food.

On my visit home to St. Louis, my friend, and I stopped at this establishment, on Fathers' Day 6-20-21.We were told by the Hostess, that our table would be ready in 10 minutes, she suggested we go into the bar to wait. The bartender, who said she had just started her shift, informed my friend, and I, that our table WOULD be ready, but food orders, were taking 45 minutes, to 1 hour, to be served!!!!While I realize, that the Pandemic is strongly an issue, communication between staff members should not be.

Great atmosphere, great food, and an even greater experience with "D" Dana and Veenie the staff. The people here are top notch with great attitudes, professional and really made our night!
