I haven’t had a good hot pastrami since I was a kid growing up in University City. Husband was in the hospital across the street and the nurse recommended Carls hot pastrami. It did not disappoint. It was delicious!!

The service was not very friendly, the ordering process is not straight forward, and the price confusing. The sandwiches even though large, were not well constructed and not possible to eat like a sandwich, so I had to use a fork to eat mine - maybe that size is a good thing for some people, but I was looking for a sandwich - it tasted good, just difficult to eat cause the bread did not hold it. The place does not look the greatest, but it didn't look dirty, just a normal deli - not very inviting. It looks like it's frequented by regulars, maybe I was an odd ball - so if you're going there for the first time, maybe have someone that knows the place with you.

Had a roast beef sandwich - beef a bit over cooked IMHO. Others had the pastrami and thought it was very good.

Very large average portions. Bread got soggy to quick.. The interior needs an update.

Carl's Sandwich Shop in St. Louis is a must-visit for deli lovers, especially if you're a fan of pastrami. Their pastrami sandwich is a standout—generously piled with tender, flavorful meat. Every bite is a delight. Cozi little place, lunch only with great staff.

So, typical processed corned beef
Had 2 sandwiches to go
The “corned beef” was dry, chewy tasteless,
It was put on supermarket rye bread
Tried eating it 10 minutes later
It soaked thru the bread. So it was no longer
A sandwich . My wife had a “ Ruben”
It was even worse
Never had a Ruben that wasn’t grilled
Like a panini. The bread became mush
Inedible. My wife thought it was deli ham.
Went to Protzel’s for lunch
Unfortunately they were closed for the Jewish new year holiday. Their food is fantastic. Never coming back to Carls

As a tourist I googled to find the best corned beef sandwich in St Louis. Carl's was rated one of the best and so I took my son and grandson. Fantastic. Huge sandwiches with dill pickle spear and several types of potato salad available. Better get there early to avoid the line.

My husband and I left Carl's Deli 2 hours ago and we're still talking about how good the sandwiches were. Loved them!

I am currently devouring a hot pastrami on rye. It is phenomenal. I am so glad I chose to eat here. It was all because of the google reviews.

My first time. I chose the turkey pastrami, sadly it wasn’t that good. Presliced processed meat! Even Schnucks Boars Head is better. Carrot cake for dessert, give it a 3 in flavor and moisture. Not worth 2.50. I don’t see myself returning Sorry!
