The dishes are prepared with authentic spices and flavors. Don’t be confused if you can’t find the price for the dishes, just ask the owner and they will tell you. It is a small operation and you can take free tea and water from the “help yourself“ area. It can be easily missed from the street since no special advertisement is put out. After trying it once I’ll definitely come back for more delicious dishes!

I am an authenticity first kind of person and I found their food to be the most authentic southern style Chinese food I've had in STL. Go here if you like home cooking and hole in the wall style. I can't recommend enough!

Don't let the shabby appearance scare you away. And yes, it's a little expensive. But the food is legit. I grew up in San Francisco, and in my opinion, this is better than most of the Chinese places there. Very traditional and authentic. Get the Chao Zhou roast duck and the other items on the menu with the chef recommendations.

Word around the street is that this place is about to close down for good, so enjoy this restaurant while you can. When walking in, I was immediately surprised by how empty the restaurant was and that there were no prices on the menu. Don't be too worried, everything is fairly priced, though the portions can be a bit small at times. I did like the duck that was served here, but the pot of fried rice was underwhelming. For reference, I think you'll spend around 13-20 per dish unless you get something like duck or fish. This is a great place to go when other restaurants at olive are fully booked.
