Pretty good food. Were out of a few items we want to try. Issue with their credit card machine may have kept some people out today. Cash or one of money apps was offered. Food portions were good size. Our orders came with the same type of dipping sauce. Thought an option for sauce would have been nice. Fried green tomatoes came thick and thin Sliced. Needed just a little salt to make them pop. If dipped in sauce, made it taste pretty good. Except sauce was a little to spicy for my wife. The cajun fried were good. Cheese, sauce and cut up sausage on top. Gator bits were good with the sauce. The sauce is a hot sauce, butter base, cajun flavor added. Was out of cobbler. Will have to come back another time. Check them out. Full bar, plenty of seating and tvs.

Best food I’ve had in probably a year! Incredible flavor. Nesha was our server and made amazing drinks :)

Food was EXCELLENT. Service was equally amazing. Thanks to Jayla and the rest of the crew for a great experience!

They have a limited menu. Didn’t have some of the items that they serve on that certain day. Disappointed

Amazing experience from start to finish! I came in before they officially opened, and the manager’s kindness blew me away — she offered me a Sprite and great conversation while I waited. Renisha and the young lady who made my mocktail were wonderful, and the food? The best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had, and my husband loved his catfish po’boy. Even the leftovers tasted fresh the next day.

Restaurant Review: Creole with a Splash of Soul

As part of a food-loving group that regularly visits different restaurants to find the best eats, I recently suggested we check out Creole with a Splash of Soul. While the overall atmosphere was inviting and the staff seemed friendly, our experience left much to be desired.

Ambiance & Decor
The atmosphere was definitely a highlight—warm and welcoming—but the decor felt a bit out of touch and dated. It could use a refresh to match the vibe they seem to be going for.

Menu & Availability
The biggest disappointment was the limited menu availability. Many of the dishes we were most excited to try—oxtails, mac and cheese, fried green tomatoes, and Peach Cobbler was unavailable. This really affected our experience, as these items were a big part of why we came.

Food & Presentation
The food we were able to try was hit or miss:

Alligator Bites: Served in a decent-sized bowl, but the portion was small, resting on a bed of lettuce that gave the illusion of more food. Disappointing in both value and presentation.

Candied Yams: Overpowered by cinnamon to the point of being hard to enjoy.

Collard Greens: Way too many stems—it felt more like something from a can than a soul food kitchen.

Fish & Chicken: Probably the best part of the meal. The flavors were good, but the chicken still had feathers on it, which was a turn-off.

Sauces: Limited options. Just heated hot sauce doesn’t cut it—offering a variety of sauces would go a long way in enhancing the food.

Pricing
A bit on the pricey side for what was offered—especially when a large portion of the menu was unavailable.

My wife and I had just got in town on last Wednesday, June 25, 2025 and we were looking online for a good soul food place. After going to 3 other places with no luck we found this jewel. The food was so good! I had the Gumbo and the wife had chicken wings with red beans and rice.

The chef brought us out a sample of the peach cobbler and it was some of the best cobbler that I've had in a while. We got some to go after we finished our meal.

The server, Jayla, was very pleasant to have our waiter. She is the daughter of the owner and you can tell she's been raised very well. it's not too often you hear teenagers say yes mamm and no mamm, yes sir and no sir. she's a very respectable young lady and will go far in. life with her attitude.

The atmosphere was pleasant and very clean. I will be returning to this jewel in the midst of St. Louis.

Jayla was our server and she was amazing. We stumbled upon this beautiful little restaurant by accident and she not only served us but also gave us a little history on the area and welcomed us with such generosity. Then the food came and we were blown away! Amazing experience all the way around.

I made a reservation just in case on was needed. This time one wasn’t which was cool with me. I was greeted pleasantly by the staff and given pointers on what I should try. The reason being I was indecisive and hungry. The entire menu has plenty of good choices.

I ordered the creole wings last minute.. they were not freshly cooked. I could tell by the temperature, yet they were warm . I had the creole gumbo…. Oh weeeeee!! You all have to try that spicy gumbo!! It was delicious to the taste buds. Another meal I had to enjoy with my eyes closed to savor every bite. I set at the bar. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a southern taste.

Parking is on the streets. Not wheel chair friendly.
