I made a reservation just in case on was needed. This time one wasn’t which was cool with me. I was greeted pleasantly by the staff and given pointers on what I should try. The reason being I was indecisive and hungry. The entire menu has plenty of good choices.

I ordered the creole wings last minute.. they were not freshly cooked. I could tell by the temperature, yet they were warm . I had the creole gumbo…. Oh weeeeee!! You all have to try that spicy gumbo!! It was delicious to the taste buds. Another meal I had to enjoy with my eyes closed to savor every bite. I set at the bar. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a southern taste.

Parking is on the streets. Not wheel chair friendly.

Crab Cakes were the best I’ve had! Super moist & delicate with lots of flavor, yum!!

I have the pleasure yesterday having a quick snack that turned into a fat man dream. The service was great! The food was delicious. So! You wanna know what I have? Not telling! However! The ox tails was so fire! The creole wings! The chili wings was great. Then the garlic mashed potatoes was just stupid! We accidentally came across this place walking downtown. I’m telling you, what a beautiful unique place with a hilarious bar tender, we love Marvin!

I’m never coming to st Louis again without visiting this restaurant and bar.

We were excited to try out Creole with a Splash of Soul. Unfortunately the only soul I felt was the one leaving when served what could have been a shake and bake porkchop - no peppers, no sauce - just a dry chop that was difficult to cut with a table knife. Service was very poor. We had to ask for plates to enjoy out appetizer -the sweet chili wings. I will say that based on the wings, we were excited to taste what else came out of the kitchen. When we placed our order, we were hoping to enjoy a nice cocktail or beer but our server was underage and said that he would have to have someone else come over. No one ever did. We simply enjoyed out ice water. Eventually our food arrived. And just like the bathrooms lacking paper towels the food was also lacking. With the exception of the Salmon dish nothing else was plated as described on the menu. I've had better creole at Applebees. The When the gentleman from the bar came around he asked how everything was but moved on before anyone at the table could even reply. In reviewing reviews, I typically do not give a lot of weight to negative reviews but instead focus on the positives... this is one time I wish I would have headed the warnings.

Fantastic food! Excellent and comfortable atmosphere

I've never started a review with DON'T GO! but today is a day of firsts. What an unfortunate and disappointing experience this was. I called weeks ahead to make a reservation for a party of 17. I was traveling from Kansas City MO with my church and looked forward to supporting a black-owned and woman-owned business. We actually received two referrals to eat here. We arrived a few mins before our reservation. The table was not set up for our party. Once ready, we commenced to provide our orders from the menus we were provided while being told that multiple items were not available to order including no desserts at all because it wasn't the Sunday brunch. Odd but we moved forward. It took over an hour before anyone's food came out however, all orders were not brought out at the same time. We were told there were only two cooks to support our orders. While most of the food was pretty good, the catfish was overcooked, the asparagus was overcooked. One person in our party did not get their full order. The waiter said it's a large party so it would take a while but more than an hour and a half to get food! Most of the receipts were wrong. My receipt included an overcharge for an item and I was told that the system had updated but the menu didn't. The waiter still seemed to expect that I would pay until I refused and requested to speak to the manager. I later found out the owner was present. She was one of two that prepared our meals. Once finished, she never approached our table to apologize for the service or mishaps. Once she finally did come to speak to me about my receipt, she fixed it however, when I was rung up it was still at the higher, incorrect price. As she was called over, I expressed my dissatisfaction and actually disappointment with their service considering that we had reservations and had traveled over 4 hours to come to her establishment. She finally apologized however, she also said that we, her customer should understand that it takes time when you have a large party. My response was, she should've been equipped to support our party, especially with advance notice. Her response was that she shouldn't have taken our reservation. I don't understand why it's our fault that she couldn't handle our party's size. She was rude and again, didn't care much about our dissatisfaction with the service. It took over an hour to process our receipts. There was one waiter for two tables and 17 people to take our order and process our payment.

I would not recommend supporting this owner or this restaurant. I suggest kindly that she get the staffing that she needs. There were some customers that flat out left because no one came to take their order. Start again, there's potential but the delivery comes up way too short. Poor service and poor management!

Service was great but food very disappointing. Not much seasoning/flavor. And worst of all I never had oxtails before so ordered off the menu. I didn’t notice til afterwards that I was given turkey neck bones instead of oxtails

All the food was so good.
The decor was lovely and the staff was friendly and attentive. I love it when we
find a diamond in rough restaurant. I'll be back for soul food Sunday ❤️
