Was really hoping to love this restaurant with it being so close by. The food was good but small portions for sure. Our server was MIA most of the time. When asking for a soda refill they said we'd have to pay for another soda, no free refills... talk about nickle and dining ya. Unfortunately we won't be back.

Steve provided worst service ive had in a long time was there with another party on a double date. When it came to the bill he was upset we didnt tell him we want separate checks. He never asked i dont understand the issue. Then had a Terrible Attitude when he returned the correct bill. The food was mediocre at best i didnt care for it neither did my wife. Had two drinks they were weak. Idk how much longer this place will be open.

We love it here. We have had great service and great food every time. Their street corn loaded fries are TO DIE FOR! Also all margs are skinny margaritas which adds a lot of flavor!
Great food. The chips and queso were delish. My sister had fish tacos (her go to at this restaurant) and I had the house salad with chicken. Both were delish!

The salsa tasted like pasta sauce. The servings were small like tapa servings. We order guacamole and it came in a small bowl like it was a sample tasting. Food was kind of bland. I won’t be going back. Service was good.

We kicked off our Tour de Tacos at Diego’s Cantina y Cocina, and let me just say—they understood the assignment. From the bold flavors to the literal fire at our table, this place delivered.
We sat inside where the A/C was strong, the margaritas were stronger, and the vibes were just right. The service? Friendly, fast, and happy to set our cheese on fire for dramatic effect.
🔥 Yes, they lit our queso flameado on fire. At the table. With flair. It was a full-on performance, and we were living for it. We may or may not have shouted “Opa!” in honor of Momos, the Greek spot that used to live in that building. Old habits die hard.
What we devoured:
– Queso flameado (melty, smoky, sizzling hot drama)
– Loaded bean dip (a sleeper hit—don’t skip it)
– Costra de pollo (crispy cheese, juicy chicken, perfectly seasoned)
– Tres leches (moist, milky heaven)
– A shared pitcher of hibiscus margaritas (sweet, tart, and slightly dangerous)
Every dish brought something to the table—literally and figuratively. There wasn’t a single bite left behind.
This is now a must for STL Mexican food lovers. Great for friend nights, dates, or any moment that calls for strong drinks and even stronger queso.

I love Diego’s and that’s why I’m giving them five stars… They always have good food great margaritas, and great service. But yesterday, I stopped in just to get a to go order of chips and guacamole and the guacamole had clearly been prepackaged for quite some time. Just fyi

The decor of the place is really nice and we had a first great experience. I went back last night, the place had a lot of empty booths but they refused to give us a booth, stating that the booth was reserved for guests who were coming one last later. These booths were small, able to seat 4 and not even for a larger party. It was disappointing.
The drinks were good, food was decent.

I recently dined at Diego’s Cantina and had an overall positive experience. The service stood out as a highlight, prompt, attentive, and friendly throughout the visit. Staff made sure we were well taken care of, which definitely enhanced the atmosphere.
As for the food, it was decent but didn’t quite stand out. While everything was prepared well and presented nicely, the flavors were somewhat underwhelming compared to expectations. It wasn’t bad by any means, just not particularly memorable.
That said, the great service and inviting ambiance make Diego’s worth a visit. With a few improvements to the menu, it could easily reach 5-star territory.

Terrible service and incredibly tacky bill service. Menu and food is otherwise great.
I had the misfortune of dining at Diego's Cantina recently, and it was an unmitigated disaster. Our server, Angela, looked like she just rolled out of bed and put on the first thing she found on the floor. Her apron was filthy, and her shirt was covered in dog hair. But hey, maybe I could've overlooked the slovenly appearance if the service had been decent. Nope.
Angela was surly, inattentive, and seemed put off by our presence. She managed to screw up my margarita order not once, but twice. She also forgot to refill our drinks multiple times and took an inordinate amount of time to take our orders and deliver our food. To make matters worse, she got my order wrong, cold, and it tasted like cardboard.
Chicken and cheese? Are you kidding me? That's not Mexican food; that's an insult to Mexican food. She seemed completely uninterested in addressing our concerns or apologizing for the mistakes.
The only thing that didn't suck was the decor. But who cares about decorations when the service and food are this atrocious? It's clear that the owner needs to step up their game and hire more qualified staff. Servers like Angela are a liability, and it's only a matter of time before they drive away even more customers.
Unless you enjoy being treated like dirt and eating subpar food, stay FAR, FAR AWAY from Diego's Cantina. One star is even too generous for this dump.
