El Maguey Mexican Restaurant

I ordered through Door dash which was NOT the problem.. I ordered shrimp tacos. And requested shredded cheese.. l got 2 shrimp and one tilapia( I don’t eat tilapia) and cheese sauce. I have eaten here before and had no problems. Even the shrimp tacos were not good.. very disappointing as I’m at work overnight with no food to eat.

I brought a group of 14 friends to have dinner here. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The menu had a variety of different options. Our food was delicious and we received it in a timely manner. Our waiter was new, so there were a couple of mistakes made when we received the final check, but the staff was quick to correct it. All in all, I was very satisfied with everything and will be returning again in the future.. Thank you!

*posting for my mom* So yesterday, May 27th, 2025, after a long day at work and a doctors appointment, my family and I decided to have take out. We decided on el Maguey, I called to place the order for pick up. A "lady" answered and when I told her I wanted to place an order for pick up she proceded to tell me, why dont you cook at home. I was taken aback and said I'm sorry? And she replied oh no tell me what's your order. At that point I thought maybe she was talking to someone on her end so I gave her my order then she asked me, are you coming home from work? I was silent thinking for sure she is talking to someone on her end, she proceeded to tell me, very rudely, im talking to you the one whose order im taking, so again im confused as to why the rudeness, but I finished placing my order and proceeded to go pick it up. Once there I said to the greeter im here to pick up my order and I asked who took this order and I asked to speak to the manager. The greeter realized who I was and said oh im sorry i confused you with someone else. I proceeded to insist on speaking to the manager and was told the manager wasn't there and wouldn't be there until 9pm, which by the way is the time the restaurant closes. She proceeded to apologize and said she wouldn't charge me for my habiscus drink (which upon getting home i saw my recipt and saw it was charged) I proceeded to give her some advice that next time she was on the phone with someone to make sure they are who she thinks they are before speaking to them that way. But I know she lied, she didn't confuse me with anyone else because when she asked if I was on my way home from work, she spoke as if to a stranger, she said, Im speaking to you the one whose order im taking, had she truly confused me with someone wouldn't she have referred to said person by their name? Either way that isnt any manner of speaking to someone, a customer of the business you work at, even if you know them, they are still a customer. I wasn't begging for food, I was placing an order, to pay for with my hard earned money!! I will NEVER again frequent this business. If you want rude and horrible service then yes go right ahead and go here. I learned my lesson! *** UPDATE TO REVIEW: I FINALLY GOT TO SPEAK TO "MANAGER" EMMANUEL, TODAY. HE RUDELY INTERRUPTED ME, DIDN'T LET ME FINISH TELLING HIM WHAT HAPPENED AND SAID SHE ALREADY SPOKE TO HIM ABOUT IT. SO I GUESS MY SIDE OF THE STORY WASN'T IMPORTANT, SINCE SHE ALREADY SPOKE WITH HIM. HE TOTALLY STUCK UP FOR THEIR RUDE EMPLOYEE. HE SAID SHE TOLD HIM ABOUT IT AND SAID SHE MADE A MISTAKE. AND THEN RUDELY ASKED ME WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO, FIRE HER? I CAN'T FIRE HER! I CAN'T GO OFF OF A HE SAID, SHE SAID, REALLY?? WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT?? GUESS THAT IS WHY THEIR RESTAURANT IS ALWAYS EMPTY! WHAT'S FUNNY IS SHE TOLD HIM ABOUT IT SO THERE WAS NO HE SAID, SHE SAID. THAT'S OK THOUGH THEY LOST SEVERAL CUSTOMERS BECAUASE I HAVE A LARGE FAMILY AND I WORK FOR A LARGE ORGANIZATION (HOSPITAL) WHERE A VAST NUMBER OF OUR PATIENTS ARE LATINOS. I WILL GET THE WORD OUT, ANY AND EVERY WHERE I CAN!! STAY AWAY PEOPLE THE STAFF AND MANAGERS AT EL MAGUEY ON KINGSHIGHWAY ARE RUDE AND NASTY TO THEIR CUSTOMERS, SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED CASH ELSEWHERE!!! I WONDER IF THE OWNER IS ALSO RUDE OR MAYBE HAS NO IDEA WHO HE/ SHE HAS WORKING FOR HIM/HER!!!

The food was great the salsa was spicy & the decor is extremely cool & colorful. Its affordable & delicious

It's alright. And it's too pricy

I ordered Carne and su jugo to go along with guacamole and cheese dip. The soup was so hot that it burnt the lid and my food spilled out of it so that’s nice thank you guys for your terrible set up. Putting a cup in a bag of food and not saying so is crazy.
Also, we were told that we have to pay for chips and salsa if we want it even though we spent $15 between guacamole and cheese dip. Chips do not come with those dips. They are a side item so you have to buy chips separately. I paid separately for the chips and salsa and they only gay me chips. It was just really a bad experience, the food wasn’t even good and overall I just can’t recommend and would never come back to this location.
