Stopped with family while visiting St. Louis. We enjoyed dinner very much. That dinner turned into a whiskey tasting, that tasting turned into a whiskey tasting #two, You must do the tastings!

I had been wanting to try Gamlin Whiskey House for some time. When the opportunity came up to meet a friend for brunch in the CWE, I made a reservation at Gamlin. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed. Despite having a reservation, we still had to wait several minutes for a table................and over 1/2 the restaurant was empty. I am guessing they were not adequately staffed. While the menu had several interesting options, I found that most of the brunch choices were pretty pricey. I ordered a Bloody Mary, spicy, which came without a salted nor spiced rim, no garnish, and there was no spice that I could detect except maybe some pepper. My friend and I ordered the Surf & Turf omelet and the chicken and waffles and split both entrees. The waitress told us she would split them for us, but she didn't. Nor did she bring an extra plate. But no big deal. The omelet was unique in its combination of chorizo, mushrooms and shrimp, but it was greasy and hard like a diner omelet. The chicken and waffles were made with frozen, breaded chicken cutlets that had freezer burn. The waffle also may have been frozen as it did not taste fresh but stale. The waitress never came back to ask us how everything was or if we wanted another drink, or I would have mentioned these things to her. She didn't even refill our water after we asked a few times. Overall, we were quite disappointed.

Eh... ok. Whiskey House you'd think would have a bad a** whiskey list.. not the case. Nothing special. Bartender was solid.

Brunch with delicious cocktails. We had the Quiche of the day and the ribeye omelet. Both were excellent. This place is all about its high end liquors, cocktails, wines and elixirs.

Walked in to horrible service. Trendy snobs in an unfriendly atmosphere. Would not recommend this crap bar to anyone.

Poor experience all around....

Our Server Angelica was horrible and she made sure we knew she didn't want to serve us. For instance, she never introduced herself, we had to ask her was she our server, everything we asked for took 15-20 minutes that included from sugar to coffee. She was unprofessional and we all were appalled at how she treated and talked to us. Needless to say, WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING.

Danielle, our waitress, was very warm and helpful before, during, and after our meal. The food was excellent. We didn't have to wait long for our food. The atmosphere was pleasant. I highly recommend this restaurant. Be aware, the prices are rather high.

Went here as a couple on Saturday early evening with a reservation. Seated right away, food was wonderful! Ordered the pork chop and 10oz strip with Brussel sprouts, as well as the marrow appetizer which was very unique.

Great location, food and drinks. The girls and I have been to Gamlin a few times and the food is always good. The interior is cute and their hospitality is great as well. I wish they didn't rid of the sweet potato waffle that used to go along with the chicken & waffles (now it's just regular buttermilk) and having an unlimited mimosa option would be nice but other than that, Gamlin is a great place for brunch. Full review on my blog as well. The link is in the bio. =)

Just went to dinner here tonight. At the end of our dinner (only 1.5 hours) our waiter approached us and said "I'm sorry to do this, but we have a VIP guest here who specifically requested your table. I'm not saying you need to leave, but do what you want with that information." I guess we're not important enough for their business. I will never come here again. Totally classless.

This is one of the few places that I have Frequented regularly since moving to Saint Louis. I mostly like to try new places, but I keep coming back as i love the decor, they have a really great selection of whiskey and the bartenders are more of mixologists who are very kind and friendly. To me their drinks stand out more than their food does but brunch when the weather is nice is a fun experience because the patio is in a prime location and the food is decently priced. If you are going and to have a sit down meal definitely sit in the main part of the restaurant because the bar area is more transient as people are coming in-and-out and especially when it's cold outside the bar area can get cold but I will say it is worth it for the drinks!
