Great food, funky place. The wait is long but the food is worth it and you can’t beat the atmosphere. Really nice people.

Absolutely incredible food, service and atmosphere. The pictures and eclectic walls tell stories as if there wasn’t a pile of VHS tapes and shelves full of old movies to pick from. Although delicious, the unassumingly casual and readily available table popcorn almost makes you wonder where you are as you scroll through their digital QR menu. When your eyes find the incredibly priced $2 kool-aid flavor of the day, it’s easier to accept that you, my friend, have stepped into the Twilight Zone.

The farm-to-table/vegan menu exceeded my high expectations and I fell in love with their banana pancakes/french toast. Perfectly cooked bacon and fries. The list goes on, as the management has special farm to table 5 course dinners held monthly. It does not get much better than this guys, honestly. The hours of operation make you wish they were open everyday, but that’s just one of the special things you have to appreciate about Gooseberries. The management/staff work very hard in the restaurant, kitchen, and most of all on their farm: to serve mouth watering meals for the people of Saint Louis. That’s what the Midwest is all about.

Do not pass up on this place, your heart will know why once you’ve had a taste.

Wife and I went for late night eats...Waited over an hour for , badly made vegan biscuits and gravey and some kind of fried tofu with beans and potatoes that tasted like the can they came from.

Fantastic place! Dinosaurs on the table and blackened spam on the menu. Had the chicken and egg sandwich with bacon and olives. Amazing. Never would have thought of putting olives with that but it so worked. Also, very economical. Two entrees, 2 large sides (excellent blue cheese mac & cheese), 1 salad, 1 bagel, 1 cookie, 1 drink - all for less than $20! I'll be back.

Found myself wondering why I haven’t reviewed this place after so many good times here. Definitely a gem. If they’re open and you’re in need of some good food, this is your spot.

Dietary restrictions: Solid selection of vegan options; not just an after thought

Possibly my favorite restaurant or even place in STL. I’m afraid to give it a review because I don’t want people to hear about it because I want Gooseberries all to myself.

The best time you’ll have at 2am, wish it was open later.

The pizza was delicious! We added mushrooms, green olives and fried tofu to the coconut milk cheese pizza. Loved it! The vegan tacos were tasty and the vegan mushroom cheese steak had really good flavor but could have used a little more cheese.  We also got a small order of the cinnamon sugar donuts and were surprised by the gingery flavor. If you aren't a fan of ginger then these might not be for you! A VHS of Who Framed Roger Rabbit was playing when we went to pick up our carry out. We were offered kool aid and popcorn while we waited for our order. Gooseberries sometimes has farm to table dinners that you can reserve a spot at in advance and they can work with most dietary restrictions. Cool place, nice vibes

not sure how I didn't leave a review yet. this is far and away the best late night food in St Louis. It's also awesome on Thursday evenings when I want some nice cozy comfort food! Great vegan options, amazing slingers. DELICIOUS banana pancakes. one time they gave us free hand pies. One time they had chicken and dumplings that was to DIE FOR. I love watching Shrek on VHS when I'm here. They also have a ginger iced coffee which is a flavor EXPLOSION. Very queer friendly!

Stumbled upon this gem looking for late night vegetarian options and I’m so glad we went! I have never been so happily overwhelmed, there are so many vegan/vegetarian options on the menu. The atmosphere was eclectic and welcoming with a wide array of movies, games, and decor to entertain. The service was top tier and the food was delicious. We ordered the French toast, vegetarian slinger, and lentil sliders all of which were great! The prices were more than reasonable, especially given the convenience and meal portions.

Vegetarian options: There was a vegan section on the menu, but more meals could easily be made vegan/vegetarian as well. There are so many options, I was having trouble choosing (which rarely happens), and ended up ordering two meals to try.

I live a few minutes from here, so I wanted to check this place out. Great service. Notified me that the wait time for my meal would take a while to prepare, which I’m fine with. The place is nice. They have a dine in and a take-out option. I ordered the smoked tofu platter. It came with a free bag of popcorn. The food is great. My favorite is the hush puppies. Will come back again.

Vegan donuts are. banger, Long wait times but it’s a hole in the wall open in the middle of the night on the weekends, be patient.

My boyfriend and I decided to eat dinner here as we are vegans and don't have very many options especially late at night. We waited outside until they opened and were the second customers in there we sit down and no one says anything to us then the very rude dude who I guess owns the place comes up mumbling some stuff about a QR code. It completely stumps us but rather than explain to us we need to scan the QR code to order( which was new to both of us) he just walks away. So we sat there confused for like 20 minutes while more and more people pile into the restaurant who I guess ordered online. We couldn't find the QR code as we weren't provided with one at our table. We finally find it and order online.noone checks up on us or says anything.Pancakes and fried cauliflower was all we had ordered. We ended up sitting there for nearly 2 hours!! He never came back never said anything about our order just glared at us from across the restaurant and helping other people. I finally get fed up and go and ask for an estimate on my food and just then he tells the kitchen to make it and says less than 5 very rudely and walks away from me. Are you kidding me ?! So we sat there for 2 hours for them to make our food in 10 minutes! And the manager acted rude and like he was mad at us the whole time. For US waiting 2 hours while everyone else around us got and ate their food. We sat outside for you to open. Waited patiently and quietly for our food. Were polite when you first talked to us. We were just trying to have a good eat out experience since we're vegans and that's hard to do. And it sucks honestly the food wasn't bad. But I couldn't imagine giving my money to that awful man again. This place took our amazing date night and ruined it. I stand by what I said soooo glad we didn't tip any of you. Shame on this place. Can't wait to see it closed. Food 7/10 really wasn't bad sucks I kinda liked it. atmosphere 0/10 there's just trash everywhere and seats are way too close together it's a negative energy as soon as you walk in. Service -10/10 we were so excited to try this place out so excited we might have a new spot to eat at and the service here completely ruined that. Not only will we not be coming back but we will be informing everyone to stay far away!
