My friend and I were looking for something light after the show at the Fox. The Grand Center Arts District is a dud on Sunday afternoons if there is not an evening show. The Grand Tavern was our ONLY option for a drink and a light meal. We each had a glass of Pinot Grigio. It was a measly pour for $15 a glass. We each had the wedge salad and shared an order of the home fries. Bill came to nearly $70. I won't go back. Expensive. Limited menu. Service was adequate.

just a great downtown St Louis eatery. I just love eating here always a delicious meal. So David no longer works here, it's still a great restaurant. More of an upscale casual dining experience. The entire staff is just excellent, very courteous and extremely pleasant. I recommend getting the bison short rib. My girlfriend got the chicken fried cauliflower and it was amazing. It's absolutely wonderful and the truffle mousse to go with it is to die for. A great place to take a date for the first time it's pretty romantic. The atmosphere is very pleasant, simple and easy on the eyes. I absolutely love the lighting fixtures in this place. And on a side note get the mussels as an appetizer.... oh my God they're so good.

Beautiful tavern with an upscale look & feel while remaining comfortable and unpretentious. The service on my two visits was a little less attentive than I'd like (it was very busy on my first visit, moderately so on my second) but the staff was friendly and professional. Overall a solid choice for a meeting spot before events in the Grand Center area.

I had a very poor experience at first with our server. I believe his name was Tim. He had very little knowledge on alcohol. I was very disappointed with the service and attentiveness until a younger employee with blonde hair came over and quickly brought us the drinks we had been waiting for along with other items we had asked for. He apologized and checked on us multiple times. This whole time, Tim was nowhere to be seen. I can't complain, because the food was fantastic as well as our drinks when we finally received them from the young man who was delivering food. All in all, its a great restaurant, but would have liked a better server at the beginning.

Staying at this amazing hotel, blown away with every aspect up until entering Grand Tavern. This place is a total disconnect from the hotel. Can you say Twilight Zone? The lady bartender acted as if we were a burden to her glass cleaning time. We just left the penthouse where Bo was the most amazing Bartender I have EVER encountered to this hot mess. The food is overpriced and mediocre at most.

The original spot where The Rockettes practiced before they headed to Radio City, this restaurant is perfectly located on Grand. The food was presented well and the hostess and staff was friendly. I had the smoked salmon breakfast that was seasoned perfectly with capers, boiled egg, red onions, and whipped cream cheese. The coffee was very effective strength-wise. I will return.

My fiancé and I stopped here for dinner before seeing a show at the Fox. We arrived to find that the restaurant is no longer affiliated David Burke and that there is a completely new menu, that's fine but I wish there was some kind of indication online that they had changed management (and the menu). We started off with the Duck Croquette appetizer which was fantastic! Other than the croquettes the experience was not all that great. I ordered the fish sandwich (cod) and when it arrived I couldn't tell it had fish on it, it was so thin all I could taste was bread, tartar sauce and pickles. My fiancé ordered the salmon with beet risotto. The beet risotto was okay, nothing special but the salmon was so disappointing, it was flavorless. We were not offered a dessert menu so im not sure if they have dessert. We still had some time to kill after the entrees so fiancé ordered a cup of tea. The server arrived with mint tea even though he ordered green tea. We probably won't be back, too expensive for bland food.

We arrived for brunch before Wicked at The Fox. We had the bottomless Mimosas and tried several entrees. All were good and we enjoyed the live entertainment. If you are looking for a laidback place before the show, I would definitely recommend this place.

Every Christmas season, my husband and I take our entire family and significant others to The Fox Theatre for a play and a fine dining experience. It's an annual tradition and something everyone looks forward to. Each year, we choose a different restaurant and this year, it was the Grand Tavern by David Burke. Rushed, poor service with ok food. First of all our waiter...Tim. When asked what beer he would recommend, his response was "Bud Light". After seeing my husband not respond well, he attempted to lighten it up by saying "well, I'm a Bud Light man myself". My daughter's boyfriend ending up making a recommendation for a craft beer that he recognized on the menu. I won't even go into detail about my wine experience. The only reason that comes to mind for the zero recommendations for the wine/beer is because he didn't know anything about either. Had his response been more "I don't know that I can recommend anything" etc. everything would've been fine and we would've continued without being set on edge. However, that was just the beginning. The entire meal was rushed. Even with the server's sense of urgency, my son still had his Couch Potatoes come out after he had eaten almost half of his chicken. Not sure how that could happen when it consists of 5 small fingerling potatoes. And no one wanted to continue saying "No, I'm not done with that". Now, it's pay the bill time. The entire bill for 2 apps, 2 cocktails, 1 glass of wine, 1 beer, and 5 entrées came to $250. Not a bad ticket price had the food been great. It was just ok. If the service had been better, I could've chalked it up as a win. However, after paying the bill, signing for the bill and gathering our coats to leave, I had one more irritation to deal with. The waiter came back to my table and says there is some sort of issue with the restaurant copy of the receipt not printing. And, he needs to see my credit card again??!! So, I give him back my credit card and in less than 5 min, he comes back with the Manager. She proceeds to give me some excuse about why they needed my credit card and that unfortunately the receipt showing they cancelled the original amount didn't print either. So, they cancel the original amount and re-run my card to charge the same amount again but all they printed was the receipt for the new charge. Hmmm...sounds like someone didn't get his tip entered in correctly the first time around. And, yes even with the crap service, I left a 20% tip. All in all, it was a terrible experience and I would never recommend this place.

We tried out the Grand Tavern on New Years Eve and boy what a disappointment. First the shrimp cocktail was $18. I asked our server how many shrimp were included and he said plenty for 3 people. We were presented with 3 shrimp and there was nothing special at all about the taste and presentation. My son's grilled branzino was over salted. Our server said the bison short ribs would be fall apart tender. Instead we could hardly cut off the beef. Also the hipster fries had cold fat globs mixed in. We don't plan on going back.

First time here and what a great find! The complimentary popovers are simply amazing and served warm, right out of the oven! The Chicken BlT was delicious! And the service..WOW! Super friendly, very attentive! I will definitely be back!

Meredith and her bar staff bring excitement and knowledge to every detail of every crafted cocktail or spirit poured. Can’t wait to eat a meal there because the “little bits”we sampled with our cocktails were delicious.

Although I have not eaten here, the bar is awesome. I love the old school classy bar feel. There are other bars in the area but this is my go to spot when in town. A great selection of bourbons and the service is absolutely awesome. The bartenders only add to make the place better. Kudus to Justin and Melissa for a great job.

My husband and I travel to various parts of the country and dine at some spectacular restaurants. However, Grand Tavern right here in St. Louis is probably the at the TOP of our list. The food was absolutely amazing! The entire team was very attentive to our needs. If you live in St. Louis and have never been then you are missing out. We had the K.C. steak that was to cooked to perfection. Also, the scallops melted in your mouth. The evening was a night to remember. We personally want to thank all those who made our night magical. Grant, Michael, Kayla, Austin, Jenna, Robert, Meredith and Melissa. I hope I didn't leave any one out. You will never be disappointed dining here. They serve a killer breakfast too!!

I have been to David Burke in Chicago numerous times, while I cant say he is my favorite chef, the service has always been impecable. We've been to Grand Tavern before for bruch and it was in a word - pleasent. Our experience last night in a word - insulting. Our server TIM, seemed to pay more attention to one table than any other, least of all ours. We ran into terrible traffic coming down for a show at the Fox. We called ahead to let them know our situation and apologetically explained this to Tim. He almost went out of his way to stress us out by ignoring us and then we had to shovel food down like we were barbarians. If not for the wonderful show at the Fox (The Piano Guys) our evening would have been destroyed and it was my wifes 50th birthday. Shame on you Grand Tavern!
