“We've been looking for a great gyro place for a while and were very happy with our experience here. Clean, friendly, family environment. Food came out quickly even with orders in front of ours. Our gyros were delicious as was the rotini salad. Didn't finish all of my gyro and it warmed up nicely the next day!! We have found our new gyro place!!!“
“If I could bottle the feeling of joy that comes from an unforgettable meal and serve it to the world, it would taste exactly like Olympia Kebob House & Taverna. Nestled on McCausland in the heart of St. Louis, Olympia is more than just a Greek restaurant,it’s an experience, a destination, and for those of us lucky enough to know it, a weekly ritual. From the moment you walk in, something shifts. You’re no longer in Missouri. The aromas, the laughter, the ambiance, they transport you to a lively taverna in the hills of Athens. And then the food arrives. We started with the Taverna Potato Peels (crispy, golden, addictive). Add a side of Tzatziki, and you’re in trouble (the best kind). Honestly, just go ahead and order extra Tzatziki. You’ll want it with everything. You’ll want it by the spoonful. You’ll wonder how a yogurt-based sauce can make you this emotional. Then came the Gyro Deluxe, a masterpiece of flavor, texture, and satisfaction. It doesn’t just set the bar, it is the bar. The Deluxe Chicken Shish Kebob Platter followed, with juicy, perfectly charred meat and a balance of herbs and seasoning that would impress even the most traditional Greek yiayia. On the side? Spanakorizo… a Greek spinach rice dish that sounds simple but hits with soul. Every bite was warm, fragrant, and comforting in the way that only true home-cooked food can be. And just when we thought we couldn’t be impressed further: Chocolate Bak-Lava. Rich. Decadent. Crisp. Sublime. I’ve traveled. I’ve eaten Greek food in several cities. And yet somehow, nothing prepared me for Olympia. That first time I ate there, I found myself shaking my head after nearly every bite, not because anything was wrong, but because I could never had been prepared for this experience. And the service? As stellar as the food. The staff is genuine, warm, and clearly proud to be part of something this special. They treat you like family, but more importantly, they seem to mean it. If we lived closer, we’d be there twice a day. As it is, we’re still making the trip once or twice a week without fail. That’s how good Olympia is. It’s not just a restaurant. It’s a place that makes you feel thankful, thankful for the food, the people, and the joy of discovering a place that just gets it all so right. Olympia, thank you for what you do. You’ve earned every word of this. THANK YOU!“

“I have been wanting to get here for several years, and we finally made it, tonight, to Anthonino's Taverna, a short distance from Rob's place. (Fun fact, this place has been spotlighted twice on Guy Fieri's Food Channel Show. I can now see why. 🥰) Well, I wish I had made it here sooner. But, that's behind us, and tonight was a delicious, and delightful night. Our waitress, Bailee, had the excellent insight to know it takes awhile to decide on a drink, and dinner choices. It doesn't matter if you read the menu online or not. Changes are always added. She gave us the grace to settle in for a few minutes. She gave us enough time to settle in so we could make our choices. Rob had a Kona Wave draft, and I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Bailee brought us bread made, and baked on The Hill with great quality olive oil, and herbs for dipping. Rob ordered the lasagna, and I opted for the Tutti de Mare with seafood, garlic, butter, and olive oil. My dinner was delicious, and made with freshly made pasta, and a perfect mix of perfectly cooked wild caught seafood of mussels, shrimp, clams, and squid. Rob's lasagna also featured freshly made pasta sheets, Anthonino's red sauce, sausage, ricotta, and mozzarella cheese. I tasted it, and it's your pick here if you love lasagna. Homemade taste that brought me back to my grandmother's and my mother's tables. 🥰❤️ I also felt welcomed, and comfortable as soon as I walked through the door. Italian girl here, and I would highly recommend this place for the food, drinks, the customer service, and the ambiance. I am already planning to come back on my next trip here. Anthonino's Taverna“

“I’ve ignored this place over the decades, assuming it was a typical dive bar. A friend assured me the food was great and I should try it. Understatement! Believe it or not I’m a hypercritical person but I could find no fault at Michael’s. During both of my visits, everything everyone ordered was cooked and seasoned beautifully. So far I can highly recommend the Greek salad (standout among the large number of Greek salads I’ve tried), the rack of lamb and the galaktoboureko - a house-made dessert consisting mainly of a fluffy custard and phyllo dough. Even the side vegetables and rice were wonderful. The beer and wine selection was good as well and I wrote down my wine to look into buying a bottle. The many servers were extremely busy and professional and our server Amy did a helluva job. Large rack of lamb with sides, entree-sized Greek salad, two beers, wine and dessert for only $80 -which for the quality of our dinner was quite a bargain. Generic name belies quality cooking and serving! Pass it on!“
