Best chicken in town like they said it was
I’m not sure if the recipes have changed, if we caught them on a bad or if it’s just the nostalgia of the place.
Went for the first time since a covid and the chicken was not good at all.

This is a place that my inner grandpa not only loves, but craves. The food is of a kind that used to be ubiquitous and is now nearly extinct: excellent, unpretentious and plentiful homestyle American food served on plastic plates with enough for two meals at a price point that rivals terrible fast food options for a full meal. Though they are famous for their fried chicken, I check their specials regularly for the meatloaf and the Polish sausage, and my go-to is their Chicken Fried Steak, the best in the city by a long shot in my opinion. I always get exactly what I expect and love every fork full, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. This is legitimately one of my favorite places to eat in Saint Louis.

Seat yourself, no hostess. Big restaurant, so it wasn't loud. Good ambiance. The server was very friendly. I had the grilled chicken Cobb salad - very delicious. Wings are great, too.

Great restaurant! Good food and portions are huge! Besides their famous chicken, we also got chicken liver appetizer, which was delicious!

The chicken was very disappointing. My daughter and I ordered Golden Fried Chicken with French Fries and Slaw. Chicken was tasteless and the slaw tasted strange, fries were actually good. No salt, no pepper no nothing on chicken. I can say 100% that Kentucky Fried Chicken is great in comparison but I don't eat KFC anymore. Hopefully it was a new Chef they were training and he missed the beat, but there was absolutely no flavor in chicken at all. Aside, the restauraunt was nice and servers were great.

We did not enjoy the fried chicken at all. It was tasteless. I thought maybe after getting through the tasteless breading I would like the chicken, but there was something about the smell and taste that made me sick. The sticky hot wings were pretty good. Definitely was unimpressed with the supposedly famous chicken.

Visited Hodak’s for the first time today and had the best service and food. Shout out to Nobel who went above and beyond and was such a pleasure to meet.

I was told this was the best fried chicken in town. It must be a pretty small town! because it's not very good. The food is just okay. Service was great
