Worth a visit, then decide if it is on your “circuit” of dining. I will return! There is more to absorb than just one visit.

Meatballs are not cooked, good flavor but they nuke them in the microwave. So, they're pre made or ordered frozen. There were racks of ribs I could see dying bc they weren't being served to the people that ordered them. The bartender LITERALLY looked at my tip in front of my face & when I thanked him & over tipped, he pretended like he didn't hear me. This is a family owned & run establishment??? I guess they're trying to keep it small. 👍

Their catering is straight fire. They've catered for some work functions before. But honestly the single portions were pricy for what you get. Burnt ends n ribs were just okay Edit: dropping to one star. I think I got food poisoning here.

I wouldn't doordash with these people. When they get a good doordash order, they take it themselves and deliver it. They don't cancel the doordash order, though, so drivers show up expecting an order and end up getting dinged for not being able to take the order. So Gastropit is messing up these doordash delivery people's pay and time. It's happened several times, and they are pretty rude to the dashers when they show up for THEIR order. That also means the customers who pay for doordash are wasting their money using the third party app.
Unprofessional, low-key stealing, and honestly a bit ignorant. Why accept doordash in your store if you steal the orders?

Honestly, every time we get to-go food here, it’s something is missing or forgotten. They didn’t forget sauce this time (it was forgotten last time) but we ordered cornbread and it didn’t make it on the tab for whatever reason. We checked for sauces before we left. But the cornbread was left out. And that’s unfortunate whenever you finally get home. There were kids playing with legos at the bar two nights in a row. You need to create a good atmosphere and be accurate in your order taking. Especially when it’s a slow night.

I am going to give an honest review here. Our bill for 2 people was $37 for dinner.
I’ll start with the positives:
From the Joe’s favorites plate, the brisket and pulled pork were very good. I really enjoyed the flavor and texture. I also could have purchased the white bbq sauce. It was tasty and I put it on everything!! My partner liked the jalapeño Carolina, Memphis, and Dr. pepper sauce. He also liked the chicken.
I had a brisket taco and I would go back again and again for it.
The areas I think that could use some changes or attention:
I was really excited to try the cheese stuffed smoked meatballs. When they came out based on size, quantity, and texture; I was pretty disappointed and shocked that 3 small meatballs could run $9 and not have a top notch flavor or texture. It’s like they were reheated in the microwave. Definitely didn’t seemed smoked. If you are going to charge that price for the smallest meatballs and only give 3 of them, you better do it right. I’m not one to ask for a refund based on dissatisfaction but that should have warranted it. The staff wasn’t very attentive tonight either. They were nice but forgot things like extra napkins, silverware, and didn’t offer refills on soft drink. The young male table busser was very kind and attentive though. The same issue is to be said able the portions on the joes favorites platter. There wasn’t a lot of meat at all compared to many competitors.
I would go back for tacos and white bbq sauce but nothing else based on portions.

Just had dinner here tonight. Ordered the burger with a side of the seasonal tomato soup. My husband ordered the brisket sandwich, tater tots, and a side Caesar salad. Each item was delicious and fresh. The soup was EXCELLENT! And I am super picky about soups. It was flavorful without being too salty or sweet! I will definitely be back.
We sat at the bar and Jenna was our bartender/seever. She was very friendly.

The side of beans was good, but I prefer dry-rub bbq, which I don't think it was. I liked the Dr Pepper sauce. And I appreciated the paper take-home (no Styrofoam) containers.

the portobello sandwich is AMAZING
Ribs... dry and tough. Brisket cooked fine, but very strange taste. Beans and potato salad not good either.

Definitely went down hill. Seems to always be out of common items as of recent. Not what it once was a year or so ago sadly. Now no different than any other restaurants.

Five stars!!! My family of four each has plenty of options to keep them happy on this menu! Smoked mushrooms are wonderful. Would love to see another vegetarian option or two but love this place! The half salads are an incredible value for $5! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great friendly staff also!
