What a special place with a special atmosphere. We came down for a small show during the week and could not have had a better experience. The atmosphere is quaint and friendly, the food was fantastic and the service was tremendous. Well done, Jazz St. Louis!

One of the best jazz listening rooms in the country, a gem for the city of St. Louis. Not a dining destination on its own, but still dinner can be quite good as part of the music experience. Place gets quite busy 30 minutes before the show, so if dining, do yourself and your server a favor: arrive a bit early, order early and get ready for a great evening of music.

First let me say this was my first bad experience at a Jazz St. Louis sponsored event. I brought four tickets to see Branford and Wynton Marsalis, the legends at the Chase Park Plaza. Initially, I was unable to purchase my tickets online due to a purchase limit that was not communicated via any platform. I contacted the box office and no one answered so I left a message. I made the purchase via phone and was told I would receive my tickets via mail. A week before the event, I realized I didn't receive my tickets. I emailed the box office and left a message. No response. I went to the box office and was told all tickets would be held at will call. Despite repeating my email address to me, I learned my initial confirmation email went to an email address on file from 20 years ago so it was resent to the correct email. The day of the show. Everything I received and was published indicated a 7:00p start time. However, I received an email mid day that said it was a 8:15p start time and seating was first come first serve in my section. Due to the number of people in my party, It was too late to change my arrival time. I arrived at 6:45p to a long line that I had to cut thru to obtain my tickets at which time I learned someone in my group were given the tickets. I waited 10 minutes for the person with the tickets to make it to will call. We went in and eventually learned that the person seating my section missed a row so people just walking in after 7:45p were sitting in front of me. I did not receive prior notice the Marsalis brother's would not perform until 8:30p until I looked at the program. However, they did not take the stage until 9:15p. Mr. Goins was in the spotlight for the first song. He plays well but I did not pay to see him. For the second song they began to spotlight the pianist as if we were at the end of the show. By this time, I was simply too tired to pay attention and left. I have no idea how long the set lasted but Joe Torrey jokes added nothing to the show. I would have rather listened to the students play. I don't understand the set change between the award given to Mr. Sanborn and the start of the show as there was only a podium and mics in front of the set. In passing, several random people commented this event always start late. In other words, after a long day of work and rushing to get to the event on time, I feel Jazz St. Louis should be respectful of one's time by starting on time and providing more information regarding programming, tickets, etc. prior to the event. I will never attend another fundraising event.

Service is top-notch, sound is awesome and actually having good food isn't necessary but a bonus that's hard to complain about.
