Subway would be proud of your quality and prices $$$.
Joe Fassi's is a quintessential little Italian huddle. They've made the salsiccia the same way for as long as I know. There's a special place for these types of restaurants in everyone's heart! It's family owned, and Tom has manned the counter for over 30 years! Unfortunately, Tom was attacked and isn't there right now, but it tells you everything you need to know about a place when family and the community pitch in to keep it going while he's recovering! It's a time capsule. It's a look back not only at the way we used to make food but at how we were as a people. It's a place where the people, in my experience, are as warm as the meatball sammich! It's a place to go when you need a little something. And it's been there over 100 years!
Best sandwiches ever...
Believe we met one of the Fassi family today; the cook looked much like one of the family from the pics on the wall!
Great food, small seating area but worth it. Locals and non-locals are very understanding and accommodating since there is limited seating. If there is a line, eat, buss your table and move so others can do the same.
My son had the 17, my wife and I had the 2 and our daughter in law had the Pranzo salad. All extremely good and worth another trip for the Hill to try others sandwiches.
Unbelievably delicious.
The sandwich was great. It tasted like it did back when my mother in law was alive and we all would go there almost weekly. And will go back.
Cozy Italian place with generous portions and SO many good smells! I got the Lunch Buster with 1/2 a veggie sandwich on garlic bread and a salad. A little spicy (keep in mind I’m white-people wimpy with my spice here) and bursting with all sorts of veggies. Hubby got the meatball and let me have a bite - I see why it’s been voted the best meatball sub in St. Louis! Looking forward to coming back when I’m in town again!

I ordered a small bowl of homemade chili and half a Vegie Supini. Either Or would have been enough, the combo was way too much, I ached for a couple of hours from overeating ( my fault).
The chili was a bit of a disappointment. Mostly bland beans, very little spices, and next to nothing meat. More like bean soup than chili.

I have loved this place and Tom the owner since I first stepped inside in 1997. No longer live in StL, so had to stop by during a recent visit. My husband and I enjoyed the Turkey Artichoke Sub and the Meatball Sub. Outstanding food and service. You’ll never meet a nicer proprietor than Tom. Highly recommend for any visit to the Hill.

Reminds me of the welcoming Italian shops back in PA I grew up in. First time coming in today and the service was fast, friendly and polite. Food was amazing. Not a huge provel fan but this place made me love it on the meatball sub! I’ll be back

Excellent food ... Seems a bit pricey for the portions ... Quality over quantity

This is one of those places that makes me proud to be an American. Family owned, family ran, and their pride/devotion shines through with all their incredible offerings.
