The food was very good. Great flavor and portion sizes especially compared to one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes that I usually select at other restaurants. My wife enjoyed hers as well. The service was awful. I don't think the old man who served us was interested in being a good server only in finishing up his day. He once even loudly reprimanded me for asking for a soda versus just water. I did have some concerns with cleanliness as well. There was a reason only two people in the restaurant we will never go back.

Ordered pho bo (beef) for pick up on a weekday around dinner time. Service was average, ready in about 15 to 20 minutes. Broth was so-so, a little on the sweet side, not much complexity in flavor. Accoutrement such as the bean sprouts and basil did not look the freshest, but was not bad. Decent portion of noodles, but not huge. Overall was OK, but I personally would choose one of the other places down the street for pho.

The food is always amazing. Great flavors and so many things to choose from (it is an extensive menu). I personally like the vermicelli noodle dishes with an eggroll but you can't go wrong with anything. The eggrolls and/or spring rolls are a must. As is a Vietnamese coffee. Don't be scared of the owner. Yes the other reviews are true. It's part of the experience; roll with it and enjoy it for what it is.

I and the wife haven’t been here in a few yrs and we decided to give another go because of their burn rice pot dish. Greetings wasn’t inviting. Sat down we were instantly shock and horrified like a deer on the headlight.. dumbfounded actually..we felt sorry for the couple the table next to us. When the server come and take the order,he was loud,rude as hell. His speech is like you there for the free meal. A prison lunch lady serving inmates..the couples was reaction after he left they look at each others dumbfounded. Am sure he will give us the same treatment if we didn’t speak our native languages. Next he went to the table with the 2 gentleman and does the same things. He was so loud and rude. Me and the wife look at each others in fear. Like we won’t make it out of here in one piece.. next the gratuity..20% automatic added to the bill.. we instantly knew why..he probably wouldn’t get a dime base on Services so he added 20% him self and give all the customers a big middle fingers. Here the twist…he is the owner..this establishment seem to be running by wife in the kitchen and husband run the front. I ordered a beer and never gotten it. I was to dramatize to even mentioned. The bill does have the charge for it. Usually I wouldn’t mind and just leave it as additional tip, but no way am letting him take 20% and another $6 dollar for the beer..I check the reviews right at the couple got serve and all point to the same thing..this business won’t 2 yrs from now..

I’ve never written a bad review for a business. However, I feel that more people need to be aware about the way they run this establishment. Check your credit card bills! They automatically add 20% gratuity, which I did not realize and tipped on top of that. No where along the way is it posted that this is something that they do. Honestly, the server was so rude that he didn’t deserve a tip. However, after working in the restaurant business years ago, I never leave anything less than 15%. (I always give the benefit of the doubt because everyone can have a bad day.) Essentially, the server got paid 35% tip for being rude, hurried, and condescending. The food is not as good as it used to be years ago. There are MUCH better places to eat in St. Louis. The restaurant is dingy and the restrooms are freezing and dirty. I sure wish Pho Grand was still in business. Do NOT give this restaurant your business!

Food was very tasty. The surley owner and his total look of disappointment when my wife asked to leave out the chicken from the delicious pancake. You could see the wheels of his mind turning then stopping then turning again was priceless.

Watch your receipts if you pay by card.Looked at other reviews now I see why my receipts didn't match what bank statements said.So they charge an auto gratuity, customers should be notified.I've been patronizing this place for many years, dine in and carry out. Yes the owner/main server is very, very brusque. Probably that's part cultural, annnnnnd perhaps he is miserable in his life? It's unclear.The food is decent. Lemongrass was usually a 3rd choice. With Mekong and now Pho Grand gone, I was using them more.Pho Long is my current favorite. I hope they stick around! ??I can deal with a gruff owner, butI give really good gratuity, so now that I see that over many years I've given them a bunch more than I realized or intended....I think it's over.Ciao!

I can honestly say this is the worst service I've received in years. We were the only customers and had to wait over 10 minutes to be acknowledged and seated food was slow to come to the table and was average at best. Hopefully Pho Grand will return soon.
