Recently received poor service from this place. I ordered on the inkind app and was charged an additional $24 service fee (from the restaurant) for having over 10 guest and a delivery fee although I ordered takeout. Spoke with the hosts immediately once I noticed the charged and she stated “yea I noticed the charged as well and wasn’t sure why it was there”. She wasn’t even the one to bring it to my attention or even mention the additional charge. She informed me to call on Monday (although they are closed on Monday) and once I finally spoke with someone on Tuesday they said they would refund me for the additional charge and I have yet to receive a refund. Spoke to someone a week later regarding a refund and informed me I’m suppose to contact inkind (although they are the ones that caused me to pay the additional charge). This is ridiculous I’ve frequently visited this place and spent my hard earned money OVER 10 times with $100+ dollar orders on this place and this is the thanks I get. I will never return due to the poor customer service I received dealing with this situation. Had they not charged me this fee to being with I would not be in this situation at all and since they did charge me they have not done a thing to resolve this issue.

Great food! Got the veggie egusi soup, plantains, and the party jollof plate with a side of sautéed vegetables. Everything was fantastic. Alysha was kind, attentive and gave great recommendations. Will be back.

I was having a horrible time. Staff was unfriendly. Bree was very understanding which is the only reason why I did not give 1 star

I was so excited to try this place especially because there is not a lot of good African cuisine restaurants in the area and their marketing on social media looked amazing. So I decided to wait until my sister from Texas came in town so we could try it together. We invited a few other people that’s never had West African cuisine, so I made a reservation on a Sunday afternoon.
We were a party of 4 & 2 of us arrived early for our reservation, we were immediately greeted and seated. The ambiance was very welcoming, and chic. The hostess was very kind, she let us know that our server would be with us shortly.
Finally our server arrived she introduced herself as Brianna gave us menus and brought water. She stated if we had any questions let her know. I asked her about the proteins that come in the egusi stew and the broth that it was cooked in and she informed me that all of the stews except the vegetarian are cooked in Goat broth. For me my feelings were instantly hurt , because I don’t eat goat. My instincts then told me to leave but I was here and wanted to try it, but I knew it wouldn’t be any of the stews that I had my mouth set on so I asked for the beef Suya to start and was told they were sold out of it. At this point, I have to look at the menu all over again because I knew what I wanted when I walked in that door but everything that I wanted was either sold out or cooked in goat broth stated by Brianna. I asked her if I got the vegetable soup could I pay extra for meat she stated “it depends on who’s in the kitchen” I’m like omg ma’am damn did we offend you because the attitude was much too much for me. Then, someone else asked about the level of spice in the food and immediately Brianna said “it’s an African restaurant everything is spicy you will be safe with the jollof” in a very nasty and condescending tone. As if we said or did something to piss her off. Another party asked about the house level sauce for the wings and she couldn’t even finish her sentence before our lovely server Brianna cut her off with a “we don’t have that” again with a nasty attitude. Trying again I decided to go with the Jollof rice platter with beef and was told they’re out of beef no beef in house only chicken and no hibiscus tea and a few other options. Now at the point I really don’t want anything I’m ready to go but the other ladies were hungry and we were still waiting on one more person but I knew what she wanted and was going to order for her. So I went ahead and ordered the Jollof rice with chicken. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and 2 of the 3 restrooms downstairs were filthy the toilets hadn’t been flushed and were full of surprises. And no paper towels to dry your hands. Once leaving and going back upstairs my food arrived and omg I just couldn’t believe my eyes. The damn chicken still had feathers on it. The plantains were cold the jollof rice looked like and over cooked Spanish rice. Lacking flavor very bland and over cooked tasted like it was sprinkled with curry powder and a little salt and that’s about it.
If I could give this place a negative number I would did I mention there was gum in the seat so when I left out of the restaurants my friends spotted the gum on me. I’m all about second chances but the server was horrible I understand people have bad days but the amount of attitude we received from her there’s no bad day in the world that could justify that working in the hospitality industry. The feathers on the chicken let me know that it wasn’t properly cleaned so I’m good. I really wish I didn’t have to write a negative review on this spot because I was so excited.

I made a reservation to visit this establishment on June 14, 2025. My wife and I arrived before our reservation time which was at 6:00 pm and we waited about 15 minutes before someone came to greet and seat us. There were two other parties that I guess made reservations at the same time so the hostess looked really overwhelmed, however she worked it out and started asking us all questions about our reservations and seating. Between ourselves and other party waiting at the same time, we were asked if we would like to be seated downstairs or upstairs. We chose the upstairs because we felt it might be more intimate, and it was okay. The art work was very nice and was a wonderful talking point while we waited for service. The tables could be a bit bigger, or at least longer to support if you would like to order a number of dishes. We waited for about 22 minutes before anyone came to get us drinks. I honestly am the one that is very critical of restaurants because in my experience, well ran restaurants have a system of how they operate to keep the flow of a great dining experience, so I was ready to walk out. She wanted to stay because she really wanted to try this place, so we stayed. Our server, a very upbeat, and knowledgeable young man came to service us and I appreciate him asking how long we had been there. I told him we have been seated for 22 minutes. He promptly apologized and asked us for our drink orders. He hurried and got the drinks, which we had two waters, and I ordered some kind of lemon berry cocktail. It was really good. When he returned, we had questions about some of the dishes and he was very detailed and patient. He even suggested dishes he thought were very good. My wife ordered the whole fish with veggies, and I ordered the goat with veggies. When the food came to the table it looked very good, however, my rice and veggies were ice cold! 🥶 We also had to eat with plastic utensils, because well as the server said, people take the silverware!IDK, just what we were told! 🤦🏿♂️ I notified the server about my dish and proceeded to eat just the goat, which was very good. During our meal, I was bit turned off and annoyed because some of the other parties from downstairs came up to view the art work and just to take a look around the upstairs. I was annoyed because I didn't like people walking past my food and drinks. They should direct their customers to come upstairs using only the front staircase to avoid this type of issue because that just didn't sit right with me. My wife's entree was very good though and she enjoyed it. The server accommodated the issue with my entree which I was very pleased because he was very apologetic. All in all, my personal opinion, I would be okay with not returning. My experience wasn't one that so many people post online as spectacular! A lot of them notify these businesses that they are food bloggers in the order to get the spectacular experience. This obviously can't be said for people that spend their hard earned money just to enjoy good food.
