This is in a relatively good location, within walking distance of the Arch. I received an accessible room, not by my choice, which was larger than I'm used to so that was nice. The view out the window was of another building but it didn't matter. I thought it was a really nice hotel with a pool table in a room off the lobby, oh and a 13th floor :)

One of those unique times when a downtown, classic hotel turns out to be everything we hoped it would be. Beautiful rooms, excellent service - including valet and bellman... Truly feels like early 20th century grandeur that has become modernized!

Save yourself the trouble and book a room at the Marriott or Courtyard next door, we’re currently in the middle of a very disappointing stay. The rooms are not as neat or clean as they appear in photos and we had several items housekeeping did not refresh in our bathroom. Parking was a nightmare and outrageously priced for valet at $48! The $30 / day self park option doesn’t have in and out privileges for this particular property as it does for the other Marriott ones, which makes zero sense. Staff is also very rude and not helpful - we were told water bottles were complimentary for gold Bonvoy members (which we are) yet one woman at the front desk insisted she charge us. Additionally, don’t get your hopes up for cookies that the hotel promises are available at the front desk from “8-9:30 every night,” we’ve been hearing excuses about why they haven’t had them for the past two days.

Historic hotel located right downtown. It has been nicely updated for the most part. We were put in a room right by the elevators initially, but upon asking they were able to change us to a room further down the hall. Our suite was nicely appointed with a walk through closet/bathroom and separate living room area. The bathroom faucet sprayed sideways a bit, and the shower pull didn't shut off the water to the spout completely, so it was gushing water into the tub while taking a shower. But these were minor maintenance issues. Room was pretty well insulated from outside noise as well.We stayed in the fall, and it was in the 40s at night. Each room is equipped with an in-room thermostat, but it doesn't really work because we were told that the way this hotel works is that the whole hotel has to switch over to heat, and that hadn't happened yet. So we were rather cold at night. This is probably my biggest issue with the overall stay experience. We tried the room service for breakfast, and it was $56 for two people, including a 25% service charge and $6 delivery charge. Had I read the fine print, we wouldn't have ordered. At least it was tasty.Other than that, service was generally friendly, particularly the bartender at the restaurant. Ooey Gooey butter cake was delicious, and made on-site.

Handy location downtown, not too far from Busch Stadium. Service was very good. The hotel is old and has been remodeled downstairs, but the hallways and rooms are a little creepy. Feels very old, narrow hallways with low ceilings, low lighting. Door to the room stuck, so you had to mess with it. Room was just okay, but felt old and musty. Vents looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. Room was cheaper than other hotels nearby, and it's obvious why that's the case.

The hotel is itself beautiful. The staff was super nice but not very helpful. They didn’t have any cream for the coffee and one night we asked for lemons(there is a nice restaurant on the first floor) and we were told no sorry they couldn’t help. Room was nice but view was of all the AC units. It’s a quiet weekend for Christ sake give us a relatively good view. The toiletries were not replaced ?….valet was 50 dollars a night. I expected it be a busy downtown because of the cost but it was the emptiest downtown I’ve ever been in. A travesty for the cost I think. Overall the hotel was nice and I think renovated because the building was older but it did look redone. Would stay here again if I had to. But might try another place out too. Haven’t had much luck with Marriott lately. Their Marriott or Marriott affiliate we’ve stayed at in the past 2 months. None of the facilities are what they used to be. And staff, despite being very nice(which in this day and age is appreciated), did the bare minimum.

We checked in Thursday night 8/17/2023 the first shock we received was the price of the valet nightly parking $48.00, the second surprise was that a vending machine is not located in the hotel to purchase bottle water or anything. Then we entered our room which is beautiful and comfortable. However, the TV did not work, they offered to change our room but by this time we had unpacked so we waited until morning for the repair. Breakfast totaled $70 for Pancakes, Bacon an Omelette and bottle of water. After an hour of trying to repair the TV a new one was brought into the room that one didn't work either so another was finally brought that worked. Housekeeping came so we left to run errands and came back to a super poorly cleaned room, I am attaching a picture. We still have two days to go can't wait to see what happens next.***Update***The next morning Saturday, about 13 hours after posting my initial review, I received a call on my hotel room phone. I was told that my review had been read by the hotel and they offered me a discount on my stay and other amenities. Later that day while out visiting friends, I received a call on my cellphone from the hotel manager apologizing and checking to make sure everything was now okay. The hotels response was beyond my expectations and I very much appreciate the effort that was made to correct our first impression. I am increasing the service rating based on the response of the hotel management.Rooms: Very Nice Rooms.

I most definitely do not recommend this hotel. The room was old and creepy. What appeared to be a 3 or 4 foot wall vent was halfway attached to the wall. The light fixtures in bathroom had about 2in opening around them. It was enough space for me to see wires and ceiling. Creepy air vents are located in direct view of bed. Sofa had strange stains. Turning on shower was a challenge. Valet parking is the only option and it's $48. Upon arrival there weren't any luggage carts available, so I had to carry everything.. I checked out the room shortly after checking in due to not feeling safe. There were no cameras in hallway my room was on .

Had lunch at the restaurant, the service was horrible and the food came out partially hot. The bartenders were aloof and not personable. They were gone most of the time I was at the bar! Don't order the wings or the potstickers! I do appreciate Tia at the front desk, she's amazing! And the valet were awesome!

I normally have a go to place I stay when I'm driving through St. Louis, but I (fortunately) stayed at the Magnolia hotel instead on my most recent trip (8/12-8/13) since my normal place hiked up it's prices recently. Magnolia hotel is beautiful, clean, original (doesn't feel like a chain), all the staff are friendly, and I can't state enough how positive my experience was. In particular, I'd like to shout out to William on the Valet team. I noted that I was leaving at 5am and he was able to park my car on the street in front of the hotel so I could get a timely start to complete a 24 hour drive. In other hotels, it is often a wait to get your car out, and this has caused me significant delay in other hotels when I have driven through St. Louis. However, William's thoughtfulness really helped me to get underway in time to reach my destination and was a mark of the excellent customer service I experienced. The front desk staff were super friendly and professional (even provided an extra treat for my dog). The bar tender was also fantastic. Not only did she make me a killer gin martini, she put it in a normal glass for me to transport it to my room so I wouldn't have to deal with a martini glass and its easy spills. The entire team is thoughtful, customer-centered, and always went the extra mile to provide a positive experience. In a world where customer service is disappearing, it is refreshing to stay at a place like this where you feel truly welcome. Also the rooms were beautiful, clean, and very comfortable for my stay. If you are considering staying here, do it!!Rooms: Clean, spacious, and comfortable.Nearby activities: I happened upon a Shakespeare festival the night I stayed here, and was able to catch part of the Merry Wives of Windsor at the park next door - so cool!Safety: Lots of security - this place felt very safe.Walkability: There are a number of restaurants right by the hotel.
