Mr. J’s stand serves ribs the way they’re supposed to be—smoke rolling, meat tender with a perfect char, and seasoning that doesn’t need dressing up. The ribs especially are addictive, juicy with just the right bite. Service is laid-back and genuine, like you’re a regular even if it’s your first time. Nothing fancy here, just serious BBQ done right!

Came in from Jefferson City/Columbia area for some shopping and good eating, you know I had to buy some sauce for the house…trust me my son is going to make sure I reorder for the house

Yes, I recommend the sauce. I made the trip all the way back from Kentucky and made Kirkwood part of my route to see Marc, Mr. J himself, and get my hands on some delicious sauce.

WOW👏 That is the best pork steak I have ever had! My coworker and I accidentally found Mr. J’s BBQ while walking to the Kirkwood Farmers Market. We both got dinner to go and even after I reheated it, the food was still impeccable. The sauce has the perfect balance of flavor and spice so we grabbed a couple bottles to take home! Definitely give these guys a try! You won’t be disappointed!

The sauce on the ribs was unbelievably good, and the chef makes it himself, I can’t recommend this joint enough great serving sizes great meats, and the sauce was to die for. Definitely will be back.
