If I could bottle the feeling of joy that comes from an unforgettable meal and serve it to the world, it would taste exactly like Olympia Kebob House & Taverna. Nestled on McCausland in the heart of St. Louis, Olympia is more than just a Greek restaurant,it’s an experience, a destination, and for those of us lucky enough to know it, a weekly ritual. From the moment you walk in, something shifts. You’re no longer in Missouri. The aromas, the laughter, the ambiance, they transport you to a lively taverna in the hills of Athens. And then the food arrives. We started with the Taverna Potato Peels (crispy, golden, addictive). Add a side of Tzatziki, and you’re in trouble (the best kind). Honestly, just go ahead and order extra Tzatziki. You’ll want it with everything. You’ll want it by the spoonful. You’ll wonder how a yogurt-based sauce can make you this emotional. Then came the Gyro Deluxe, a masterpiece of flavor, texture, and satisfaction. It doesn’t just set the bar, it is the bar. The Deluxe Chicken Shish Kebob Platter followed, with juicy, perfectly charred meat and a balance of herbs and seasoning that would impress even the most traditional Greek yiayia. On the side? Spanakorizo… a Greek spinach rice dish that sounds simple but hits with soul. Every bite was warm, fragrant, and comforting in the way that only true home-cooked food can be. And just when we thought we couldn’t be impressed further: Chocolate Bak-Lava. Rich. Decadent. Crisp. Sublime. I’ve traveled. I’ve eaten Greek food in several cities. And yet somehow, nothing prepared me for Olympia. That first time I ate there, I found myself shaking my head after nearly every bite, not because anything was wrong, but because I could never had been prepared for this experience. And the service? As stellar as the food. The staff is genuine, warm, and clearly proud to be part of something this special. They treat you like family, but more importantly, they seem to mean it. If we lived closer, we’d be there twice a day. As it is, we’re still making the trip once or twice a week without fail. That’s how good Olympia is. It’s not just a restaurant. It’s a place that makes you feel thankful, thankful for the food, the people, and the joy of discovering a place that just gets it all so right. Olympia, thank you for what you do. You’ve earned every word of this. THANK YOU!
Delicious food-terrific service even though they were slammed. We will be back.
First time back since I moved from the city- service was prompt, food was awesome as always. Brought my husband for the first time, so we had to do the flaming cheese, LOL!! Spanakopita was way bigger than I remembered- ample leftovers. Had to take the baklava to go. Glad that Olympia’s is still here and busy. Good people
I went there for my birthday. The food was great, service was great, and they had clone hero (like guitar hero) in the back. My group stayed until well after close playing video game music with the staff. It was an absolute blast and I can't wait to go back again.
Best Greek food I’ve ever eaten and top 3 meals I’ve ever had in my life! So good!!!!!!! 5/5 stars! ⭐️
I eat here all the time, and they’re gyros are off the chart, and I love their flaming cheese, and their burgers are outrageous, I would recommend this to anybody
We enjoy Greek food and our daughter wanted some for dinner; we went with another couple and all had a great time and enjoyed the night... and had a dessert to take home and enjoy... for breakfast! We enjoyed: - the mixed appetizer platter ... GOOD: For those who want to try a variety of dips and appetizers. Tzatziki, Babaganous, Hummus and roasted red pepper dip, served with three toasted pita bread - Kabob dinners Our famous marinated kebobs! Served on a bed of rice with sautéed green peppers, onions, mushrooms, and zucchini. Garnished with feta cheese, tomatoes, olives, cucumber, pepperoncini, lemon, and pita bread. - Moussaka with a small Greek salad Our version of Greece's famous culinary delight. Slices of eggplant and potatoes, layered with ground beef, cooked onions and tomatoes, topped with a béchamel sauce. Served with a villager salad - Stuffed peppers - so nice! One pepper and one tomato stuffed with a mixture of seasoned ground beef and rice. Served with roasted potatoes Wonderful desserts of: - Baklava The world famous aristocrat of pastry desserts! Chopped walnuts and spices layered with delicate layers of filo with our house made syrup - Rice pudding Creamy rice pudding sprinkled with cinnamon - Kourambiethes Greek wedding cookies coated with toasted almonds and powdered sugar. So delicious they melt in your mouth - Galaktoboureko A delicate custard pastry topped with our house made syrup. Highly recommended Thank you, Jonida, for being our server!
The waiter was terrific. Very professional and friendly. It made me feel as if I was dining somewhere expensive but the prices were extremely reasonable. I had the chicken soup and the salad. The soup was out of this world. It was very lemony and slightly thick which was perfect. The salad was just your regular salad but the feta and olives really gave it a greek taste.
This restaurant has been around for decades, guess what it still smells and looks the same, horrible ! The day before we visited another disaster dinner at the The Greek kitchen in Kirkwood! (Read the review ) Just to compare I had ordered exactly the same dishes! Large gyro salad, flaming cheese, moussaka, Pastitsio! I was not surprised, when the food came ! I truly believe, that Greek places( that I visited two days in a row) are not making anything from scratch anymore, everything comes from a food supply company! All they have to do is warm it up in a microwave so it comes out dry and overcooked and tasteless ! Service was in your face with a wait up to 30 minutes to get your order and after that, the waitress was nowhere to be found! I am giving up on Greek food in St. Louis!
A very pleasant surprise! We were hungry for burgers and fries; this was the closest place we could find to the hotel. We had a bit of trepidation - ordering burgers at a Greek restaurant? - but they were excellent. Juicy, perfectly cooked. The first could have used a bit more snap and the Greek salad a better grade of lettuce and feta, but that was a small price to pay given how delicious the burgers were.

Friendly atmosphere, prompt service, cold draft beer, and lots of choices for good Greek food were all five star. But I had to take one star back for the food being under seasoned. Ever since I first had moussaka at Diana’s in Chicago many years ago, I seek out Greek restaurants in any city we visit. Olympia’s moussaka had all the ingredients - sliced potatoes and eggplant covered by a layer ground meat and topped with bechamel sauce - except the key seasonings of garlic and cinnamon. My wife’s falafel salad was also good, but missing the key seasoning of cumin. But we would still go back, and you should try it, too.
Ate here with my wife and daughter tonight. Easy to find, just south of Highway 64 at McCausland, with 2 parking lots across the street. Nice casual decor. Service was fine, considering the day we were there. Spanakopita was excellent, and the kebobs were very good (if you want vegetables with your kebobs, get the deluxe kebobs). Hummus was a nice appetizer, but they should have a spoon on the plate when it arrives, that would help with serving it. Prices were reasonable. Overall, a pleasant experience and worth repeating!
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was really good. My feta burger was perfect, just the way I like it. My wife enjoyed her stuffed tomato and stuffed pepper.
Very friendly, casual Greek American restaurant. Very nice staff and cool casual vibe. Order the saganaki for the production value! The prep and presentation clearly falls into American style Greek taverna. Also tons of parking.
