Server was very knowledgeable about food allergies and gave us some other suggestions around town. The brisket was the best I've had since moving away from Texas. We also got deviled eggs, pulled pork, creamed corn, and oh my gosh the beef fat fries! They were so good!!!

Friendly server but disappointing food. When we arrived all the meats were sold out except for chicken wings.

Our experience was pretty mediocre and disappointing. The deviled eggs, wings, and old fashioned were delicious. By the time we got there, the brisket, chicken, and ribs were gone. I understand that with BBQ the meat is not an unlimited quantity. What made the experience frustrating was the service. When we arrived, we were told the wait would be about 20 minutes and that those items above were sold out. I asked if the pork was almost out and they said they didn’t know. Our wait turned into a 45 minute wait. We also found out then that we could have skipped the wait by sitting at the bar; we were never offered that option. And by the time we were seated, the pork was gone. We just wish the service had been more communicative with us.

Ordered food at 2 to be picked up at 6. Arrived at 6:05 and my order wasn't ready. At 6:40, I identify my order beyond the counter and ask for it. They tell me they're out of half my order and ask if they can refund me for the missing items or substitute something else in. I ask for the substitution and I've been waiting another 25 minutes since then.I can't speak to the quality of the food because I've been waiting over an hour and have been watching it get cold on the counter.

Salt and Smoke restaurant, nestled in the old Hampton Business District (which seems to be making a big-time comeback) at 5625 Hampton, is a culinary delight!!!! The decor reminds me of many St. Louis eateries when I was growing up -- unpretentious and casual, but attractive. Our server was a charming young lady who was attentive and explained the various food options without hovering near the table, as sometimes happens with more formal dining establishments. And the food was sensational!!! I had the crispy kale salad with a topping of pulled chicken; my sister had the pulled chicken platter. The meat was not swimming in sauce, which was provided in table-side bottles. I have had hotter fare than their extra-hot sauce (who needs salad dressing??!!!), but it was tasty and had just enough heat to wake up the salad. Parking is via a nice, large lot. This restaurant comes with my recommendations and merits a five star review!

This was a fun place! The service was great! We went late over spring break, so they were out of brisket, which we were a little bummed about, but being we were there late, we understood. They were very good about allergies and gluten-free and had a super easy list to follow for what allergens might be in each food. The food was, unfortunately, the bummer. Our favorite things were beef fat fries and cracker mac and cheese. The ribs had a dry rub, and those were also goodThe deviled eggs were just ok, not anything stellar.Everyone tried the pulled pork and said it had good smoke but was very salty and almost oily, which is hard to explain because pork should be fatty, but this seemed almost greasy. The hushpuppies were too dense and had very little flavor.Overall, we tried it and enjoyed the meal but won't be back.Dietary restrictions: Great for people with allergies or that are gluten-free

Fantastic! I tried the half-rib dinner with baked beans and mac and cheese. All of it was phenomenal! The meal also came with a fresh baked roll that was tasty. I love how they don't pre-sauce their meat. Friendly service with a great location. Parking is limited.

I really enjoyed the food! I was recommended the brisket sandwich, which was excellent! The fries were good, & the brisket chili! Our server was very nice & informative... My only complaint was the portion size of the chili & brisket. I'm accustomed to seeing sliced brisket, & these were like burnt ends. It just looked very small & the chili was in a tiny cup. I'd definitely eat here again.. I just wouldn't order the chili as an additional side! The brisket was amazing!

The dry rub on the brisket was amazing! We bought the dry rub to take back home with us. Between our two plates we had the creamed corn, BBQ beans, beef day fries and Mac, ribs, skinny brisket and pulled pork. Finished with the bourbon pecan pie. Great food

Extremely quick service, definitely the fastest I've ever experienced ordering food and it coming to my table.Definitely worth the money!Incredible tasting food and a ridiculously large whiskey menu.Only thing I wasn't very happy with was their choice of barbecue sauces, they weren't bad but they could really use a St Louis style sauce.
