We were denied at the door, after driving all the way from Iowa and dressing up in a fashionable manner, we were told it would be 15-20 minute wait for our table of 4. After waiting down the alley and watching 15 people in different increments allowed in (over 30 minutes), I approached and chatted with the bouncer. He informed me it would be another wait and quite frankly I knew he lied to me.

I recently held my birthday celebration at the Thaxton and it was nothing short of AMAZING! The staff, Mad Dog, and KP were phenomenal! I started planning this party a year in advance of the date and had a lot of anxiety about it since I live out of state and was working with a tight budget. However, I had been to the Thaxton previously (I am an Stl native) and knew I wanted to do a Great Gatsby themed party with food and entertainment. From the moment I reached out KP was readily available to answer questions, address concerns, provide referrals, and even coordinated visits for the DJ and myself (while I was in town for the holidays in 2023). I have never worked with someone this closely on one project for so long and it was certainly worth it. From arrival to departure, the day of went so SMOOTHLY! I truly wish that I could hit rewind on my party and do it all over again. I will certainly remember this event for the rest of my life and I am still getting phone calls about the amazing time people had. I HIGHLY recommend this venue for private events OR for a date night during their regular business hours. The Thaxton Speakeasy will always hold a special place in my heart.

The Thaxton Speakeasy is hands down one of the BEST bars and event spaces in St. Louis. They have and continue to host incredible events and weddings at their establishment. Kimberly the owner has assembled an incredibly knowledgeable and accomadating staff who truly know what their doing. From the doorman to the bartender to the waitstaff, they are all wonderful people. As a bar worker myself I am consistently blown away by their delicious and affordable cocktails and beverages. By far my favorite establishment to frequent, not only for a great drink after work, but to proudly present to everyone I can. If you are in St. Louis even for only the night. It's a must go.

I would love to have gone inside-- I read tons of happy reviews, read the website, found the password, and was really excited to go! but my boyfriend and i got denied at the door. The bouncer used an app to scan two valid Tennessee driver's licenses (born '01 and '02) and said that the app was showing red so we couldn't go in. He and the woman helping him not even try to check for any physical ways to see if the id was valid. Beware out-of-state visitors.
* I see your reply, but I still dont understand not knowing how to or going through the trouble of checking for a fake manually! Big disappointment on a 5 yr anniversary!

So fun! From the back ally entrance to the password to the feeling of the place down to the delicious drinks! (We did not get food but the drinks were great!)

Incredible wedding venue, one of the best in town. The staff was on point. Food - indescribably good. Atmosphere unbeatable. I want to live here.
We were looking to try something new instead of regular bars and clubs. We did some research to find the password and enjoyed the secretive thrills of locating the entrance and being led to the seating area.
The atmosphere is very vintage with dim lights and seating curated for engagement. The drinks were yummy. Just wish they served light finger food!

A very neat venue for drinks! We waited about 30 minutes for a table. They show you down an old staircase and into the speakeasy which has a club vibe. It was a lot of fun hanging out here, enjoying a drink, and listening to music. It was a little loud to converse but we were in party mode. I definitely recommend checking this venue out as it is different from other similar speakeasies in town.
