Edit- our second visit was even better than the first. If you love sushi, make a reservation here ASAP! The Tempura Fried Twinkie is absolute gas.Our first meal at the reinvented Benevolent King proved to be an absolute delight. We had outstanding service and delicious sushi. This is a unique concept compared to other sushi restaurants but B.K. really knocks it out of the park. Attention to detail is not spared and we found each bite packed with flavor. Would recommend the Pacific Oysters and King Roll. We have plans to return soon and cannot wait to try a few more dishes.

If you don’t know, they switched to Japanese cuisine and it was absolutely the right decision. Amazing experience. The drinks, food, and desert were all 5/5. The curry rice was incredible, the maki was great, and the Tokyo nachos appetizer was the perfect start to it. Had a great Negroni here as well, and the cheesecake/pocki (sp?) desert was perfect. All around just a really great eating experience.

If I could give 10 stars I would! This was one of the best experiences in any restaurant I've ever been to! The food was exquisite and the service was amazing! Our server Charlie was attentive without being annoying. Her suggestions were all spot on and she was a pleasure to talk to. The 3 of us all ordered different dishes and shared everything. Every dish was excellent!! The amount of times we each said OMG was a bit ridiculous but that is how amazing everything was! At the end of the night the chef Elliott came to our table and sat with us and explained of few of the favorites. He was warm, inviting, and very enthusiastic about what he made! It was amazing how cool he is! DO NOT PASS THE PLACE UP!! IT IS AMAZING PERIOD!!

Every bite from the new Japanese menu is exciting. We had the unique shooters, the hamachi crudo, and two maki (rolls). There was a small mixup that resulted in a delay we did not even notice, and the management comped one of our maki.

I loved The Benevolent King’s new menu. Chef Elliot is a master! His creations are both delicious and beautiful! The nachos (like nothing you’ve ever had), Godzilla roll and tuna nigiri are just a few of my favorites! The atmosphere is like something you’d experience in NYC! We loved it!

Zachary takes lots of pride in all areas of this gem of restaurant. The menu is unique, well balanced and delicious. The dessert is delicious. Go there on a date or with very close friends.

The restaurant has recently changed to a Japanese themed menu, and the food is delicious! The atmosphere was terrific before the menu change and is still a fantastic date spot.

New menu is not exciting nor good. Service was slow, but at no fault to the our server. The kitchen was behind. For what’s being provided the food is overpriced.

Seemed like it would have been a great place, but they notified me with less than 2 weeks warning that they would be changing concepts to a Japanese restaurant the day after Valentines day. At time of posting there has still been no official announcement about this on their social media, nor were they able to offer me a sample menu. It was extremely difficult to find availability at another at a comparable restaurant for Valentines day weekend. This seems really poorly executed on behalf of management and ownership. Feeling like I dodged a bullet for my special occasion if this is any indication of how the restaurant is run.

I had a memorable dinner with my husband at Benevolent King. The staff was very attentive, kind, and helpful when selecting our dishes. The oysters, braised octopus, lamb meatballs, and sugar witch vegan ice cream sandwich we're all delicious, well seasoned/balanced, and not overly sauced/salty. Definitely, we will be returning to try the same and new dishes in the future.

This place is good, borderline great. The small plates are a great way to try a couple of different dishes. The problem I had with this place is probably a 'me problem'. Nothing really transcended, nothing popped, my socks stayed firmly on. I may have expected too much given the other reviews.Try it, you may love it - you may just like it. Either way, I think you'll walk away happy.

I was at first skeptical looking at the menu a few months back…but I decided to try it and it far exceeded my expectations. My palate is elevated from that dining experience. Every plate we ordered was delicious, drinks and service were phenomenal too. Our favorite dishes were the poached apples, briouat, and Oysters Rockefeller. This is an excellent date night spot!

EXCELLENT food. We’ll balanced, thoughtful flavor combinations and excellent service. Cocktails were superior quality as well. The decor is a bit odd- certainly doesn’t seem to match the quality of the food, but didn’t effect the experience.

Vegetarian options: Thoughtful, flavorful vegetarian options.

We had diner here tonight and it was delicious. They have a great selection of small plates and cocktails. We tried the lamb meatballs and tuna tartar. Both were rich and delicious. Pictured is the Salatim. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but all the dipping sauces were amazing. The cocktails were good. The waiter suggested a black Manhattan and I found it to be a little nuttier than expected but not in a bad way. I would get it again. Overall, good experience and would recommend.
