Poor service, bartender ignored after receiving our first round of drinks with several mistakes. Seemed understaffed and unprepared for a fairly normal amount of customers

I had an absolute terrible experience with the Moniker. It took over 15 minutes to get water. I ordered a typical martini that was on the menu and simply asked for no vermouth. Nearly 30 minutes later, I was brought a tiny glass of an atrocious drink. I was given 3 kalamata olives, not the blue cheese stuffed olives listed on the drink. There was clearly remnants of kalamata olives in my drink. I questioned the server if the drink was correct and she said yes. Needless to say I slammed my $17 glass of kalamata juice and vodka and left. The music was also VERY loud to where my husband and I couldn't hear each other talking. Save your money and go elsewhere.

The BlackBerry cobbler martini might be one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. I also loved the azul.

One of my favorite bars in St. Louis this place is a vibe all on it's own, great craft cocktails and delicious food you won't be disappointed.

We made a reservation for 5:30 and unfortunately the experience was disappointing from the start. When we arrived, we weren’t greeted at the door and had to find someone ourselves just to get seated. After being seated, our table hadn’t been cleaned, so we ended up bussing it ourselves since no one came to wipe it down.
It took another 10 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order. We ordered drinks and food right away, but an hour later we still hadn’t received any food. Keep in mind the menu is mostly small bites, so the wait was unexpected.
When we asked our server about the delay, we didn’t get a clear answer. Eventually we had to walk up to the bar ourselves to ask what was going on. We were told the food would be out in 15–20 minutes, but after waiting another 15 minutes we were told it would be another 15–20 minutes again. They did offer our second round of drinks for free, which we appreciated, but by that point the evening was already pretty frustrating.
To make matters more confusing, two tables that were seated about 30 minutes after us received their food before we did. It honestly made us wonder if they struggle to manage tables larger than two, as we were a group of four.
Overall, the lack of service, communication, and long wait times made this a really disappointing experience. I wouldn’t recommend spending your time here.
Best espresso martini and steak I’ve ever had! Steak was so tender, cut with a butter knife. Try this place out!

I had a great experience on a Saturday night. Our waiter George was great and made sure our drinks fit the taste we were looking for. The cocktails were great but the food was phenomenal. The shrimp and grits and crab dip were amazing. They have such a great atmosphere, can’t wait to visit again.

Overall 10 out of 10!!! The food and drinks were amazing. The aesthetic and vibe of the establishment makes you feel like you are literally in another city. This is my favorite StL hidden gem. My only complaint is the balance of price & portion sizes of some of the menu items.

Incredible experience, I love this place and the staff. The lamb chops are insane, you won’t regret them. The staff are all kind and helpful. Add this place to the top of your list to visit.

I was looking forward to trying the menu, but unfortunately after making a reservation the waitress (spoke to us from the bar) had us seat ourselves and then ignored us. That was an interesting experience. The atmosphere seen like a lovely vibe despite that.
Had a 7pm reservation and was not seated until 7:28pm and then only received water after 10 minutes. They didn’t have a physical menu for the food. Ended up walking out.
Atmosphere was nice but service was terrible.

FYI: I did send this to the restaurant first before choosing to share my review publicly since zero response has been received.
I’ve been a consistent customer at The Moniker for the past few months and have invited family and friends because I genuinely enjoy the atmosphere. Unfortunately, my experience on 02/01 was disappointing. We arrived during the later half of brunch excited to try the “new brunch menu” promoted on Instagram, only to learn it consisted of just two items: sausage biscuits and gravy and pancakes. From there, we were informed, at different times throughout our visit, that several menu items were unavailable (mac & cheese, chicken ribs, hummus, asparagus, halibut, the sweet potato martini, and feta cheese). Running out of a couple items happens, but being out of core menu options felt excessive.
Two of my friends ordered the shrimp and grits and noticed the portion size was significantly smaller than what had previously been served (we even had a photo for comparison and shared it with the manager on duty who then went clueless to ever recognizing an alternative portion size ever being served at the restaurant). For the price point, the portion felt underwhelming. I, myself, ended up customizing a salmon flatbread due to limited availability. A meaningful solution wasn’t offered to us either so we paid our bills, tipped & left feeling blindsided by the inventory gaps and inconsistency. It was also freezing inside.
I’m sharing this not to deter anyone away from dining at The Moniker, but to suggest that Sundays may be better positioned as cocktail-forward service rather than full kitchen operations if the continued excuse is going to be “Saturdays wipe us out”.
